The first year of marriage was peaceful for the two Avengers at least. They didn't have any major problems, except Hydra's information being dumped into the internet. Zara and Bucky were enjoying their time together, and were trying to enjoy every minute they had together, even when they were on missions. Unfortunately, that came to an abrupt end when Steve tracked down a former member of shield. 

Zara and Bucky were with Steve, Sam, Natasha, and Wanda. Zara stayed with Wanda since she hid easier and Zara was getting used to being undercover. Her and Wanda were sitting at a cafe together and Natasha was sitting a few tables away. Steve was in a hotel room looking down at the same street they were surveilling. 

"You know I can move things with my mind right?" Wanda said knocking Zara out of her head. She smiled a little before Natasha responded. 

"You have to learn to look over your shoulder everywhere you go." Nat said into her cup of coffee. 

"Wow, you're even more paranoid than me. Anyone tell you that you're just a little paranoid?" Zara asked causing Wanda to smile.

"Why has anyone said anything?" Natasha asked. 

"All the time." Sam said as he stood on the edge of a roof a few buildings away so he could see all  the streets around the area. 

"Focus everyone." Steve said causing you and Wanda to look at each other before going back to look through the crowds around them. "Sam, you see that garbage truck? Tag it." Steve added before the team straightened up and waited for the order. 

"Trucks loaded to maximum capacity, and the drivers armed." Sam said, concern laced in his voice. 

"Go now. They're not hitting the police." Steve said as he ran out of the hotel. 

"Who are they hitting?" Wanda asked as the pair stood up and followed Natasha's lead. 

"Institute for Infectious Disease. Didn't you read the list of other potential targets?" Bucky said making Zara laugh a little but they both picked up speed as they started running. 

Before they made it, the sound of metal colliding with solid objects rang out. Wanda and Zara looked at each other before they picked up speed. 

They got there just as Bucky and Sam did. 

"I make 7 hostiles." Steve says as he looks around to see who they're fighting. 

Sam flew up to surprise two hostiles, knocking them out. "I count 5." Sam said as more saw the group and made their way towards Wanda. 

Wanda froze the man and called to Sam as she flung the enemy into Sam's path. 

"Just like we practiced." Steve said to Wanda. 

"What should we do about the gas?" Zara asked as she looked into the windows that were filling with toxic gas. 

"I'll get it out." Wanda said as she launched Steve into the building. 

"Protect her." Bucky said to Zara as he went to fight the people who were coming to stop them. She watched him for a second, hoping he wouldn't get too injured before turning back to Wanda. 

Zara ran over to her friend and turned around so they were back to back. She took a deep breath, put her hands out and sent out a forcefield that covered both of them. Controlling them was difficult at first for Zara but she had gotten the hang of it in a few months after she started. 

Sam and Bucky had gotten over a few differences and were fighting together well. 

The fight continued around Zara and Wanda who were focused on getting the gas out as well as protecting Wanda to make sure Wanda couldn't get attacked. Natasha came crashing in causing the focus to switch to her. 

"Rumlow has a biological weapon." Steve said causing Zara's shield to waver with uncertainty.  

Bucky ran over to Zara who was tiring and checked on her. "You can let it down. Natasha will take care of some of them for now and the gas is out now. Come on." Bucky said as Zara let down the shield. 

Wanda nodded at the two of them but her gaze lingered on Zara. "Be careful." Rang through her head before Wanda turned the other way and ran. 

An explosion sounded in Natasha's direction making Zara and Bucky run over to help her. They got to her in time to see Rumlow's truck drive away. 

"Go, I'm fine." Natasha pushed them away as she struggled to get up. They looked at her one more time before turning and running after Rumlow. 

"Sam, do you have eyes on the trucks?" Zara asked as they struggled to make their way through the crowd. 

"They're heading north. I spot 4, they're splitting up." Sam said as Bucky and Zara sped up. 

"I got the two on the left." Bucky called splitting away from Zara while climbing over the car and running to the left. 

"I got the two on the right." Zara said as she did the same but split off to the right. 

Sam circled, making sure he could track the two of them as Steve made his way to them. 

"They ditched their gear." Steve said, ending with a grunt. 

As Bucky caught up with them, Zara did too. She tackled one as she took their gun out of their holster and shot the other in the leg. She stood up quickly as the one she tackled stood up to look at her. She aimed the gun and shot him in his right knee. 

As the men held their injured legs, Zara went through their bags. 

"I don't have it." Zara said as she caught her breath. 

"Steve's fighting Rumlow, he needs assistance. I'm on my way to Bucky." Sam said. Zara took a look at the injured men. Before she took off she zip tied them to tables that were near them. She then took off running to help Steve. 

"On my way." Zara said. 

It took a couple of minutes to break through the crowd but once she did she saw the problem. 

"Payload secure." Bucky said making Zara relax a little but the relief was short willed. 

Rumlow was on his knees and Steve was holding him by the collar. Zara noticed Rumlow was arming a bomb as he talked to Steve. Before Zara had a chance, Wanda sent Rumlow flying up into the air. Zara tried to form a force field around him to minimize the damage, but it was too late. Just as the shield was starting to form, it went off. 

The damage was immediate as the three of them stood there in shock. 

"Oh my...Sam, we need fire and rescue on the South side of the building. We need to get up there." Steve said before running into the building. 

Zara watched Wanda fall to her knees, watching the fire rage inside the building. She knelt down next to her friend and hugged her tightly. 

"Zara!" Bucky called as he ran into the clearing. He saw her with Wanda on the ground and took a breath of relief but then saw what had happened. 

He knelt down next to Zara and kissed her head. "Take her back to the hotel, we'll cover it here. Be careful and take the side streets. We'll be there as soon as we can." Bucky said as the three of them stood up. 

"Be careful, I'll keep my comms on. Let me know when you're done and on your way back." Zara said. She kissed his cheek before turning back to Wanda and taking her hand to let her know she was with someone who would protect her. They made their way through the crowd and back to the hotel.
