Chapter 06: secluded getaway
When I had closed my eyes to ignore Ethan, I must have drifted off to sleep, and only woke up now to an argument between Felix and Lauren. Am I surprised? No, not at all.
"It's letter!" Felix objects.
"It's color!" Lauren exclaims, sounding so over this, but I know she's not a person to shut up.
"What the fuck are you two arguing about!?" I have to ask, my voice coming out dry from sleeping, but loud enough for them to hear.
"Eye Spy." Hanna groans, rolling her head back against her seat.
She has got to be joking. They're arguing over a game...
"It's letter." I state my own opinion.
"Thank you, Chest." Felix says, my jaw ticking at the nickname that he still calls me.
"Well, we're doing color, it's easier." Lauren says, and I mean, it does sound easier.
"Nope, sorry but no." He objects.
"Why's he so...?" I whisper to Ethan, who only gives me an awkward look.
"Why not?!" Lauren yells.
"Because I can't see them!" Felix yells back, and Ethan raises his brows at me, realization falling over me. "I have deuteranopia, which is colorblindness, so no, we're not doing colors if you want every answer to be wrong. I mean, I could guess, but it'll be mostly wrong."
"But you have a colored tattoo." Lauren points out in a confused voice, only making me stifle a laugh because she's not wrong.
"I know. And that's red, but I only see it as gold dull color, pretty cool actually." He mutters to himself. "Now, can we please do letters."
"Fine, if we must." Lauren says, looking out of the window which is my cue to leave them to it.
"Wait, he's colorblind?" I ask Ethan, quite surprised I never knew of this.
"Yep, he comes to me with his outfits, and I tell him the wrong colors, it's fun." Ethan says lowly and I gape at him, whacking his chest making him laugh. He's such an asshole.
"Ethan, that's so cruel!" I hiss quietly.
"I know" He chuckles to himself.
"You're such a dick." I roll my eyes, lying my head back against my seat.
"You love this dick, and my dick, so shut up, baby." He smiles over at me, and my heart skips a beat at the familiar name of adoration. It's the first time he's called me it since the breakup, and it came out so freely.
We're getting closer and closer the more time we spend with each other, and I'm scared of how close we're going to get this weekend. There's only a fine line between this; what we are right now, and what we were back in December.
A very fine line.
~~
When I had woke up before, I hadn't realized how long I was asleep for, but apparently it was longer than I had thought since the rest of the journey turned out to only be less than an hour. I'm now sat here in complete shock after Ethan telling me that we have five minutes until we arrive at the beach house, because in all honesty I expected maybe another hour to this drive.
"How long was I asleep before?" I blurt out, my eyebrows raised in surprise.
"Around two hours, you looked like you needed it." Ethan says softly, and my jaw drops slightly. I was asleep for two hours, whilst I was in a moving vehicle no less. "You look comfy."
"I'm warm but this blanket is so soft." I whisper, nuzzling my head back into it. Yes, I'm sat with a blanket wrapped around me in the middle of a heatwave. Don't get me wrong though, I only put it on at first because the AC was making me chilly and I didn't want to be the person to ask to turn it down.
"Okay, we're around, I'd say four minutes, from the beach house, but in around thirty seconds or so, you'll see the ocean. We're just about to take a right turn, so look out of the window." He says, and I smile as I do as he says, watching the beautiful style cottages pass us by.
Once we pass the last cottage in this quaint little village, Felix takes a right, and a small gasp leaves my mouth when the ocean comes into view. I'd say it's just under a mile away from here, straight down this hill. The ocean is a beautifully turquoise, the sun glistening on the waves. Extraordinary houses line the beach front, leading all the way up here, the more expensive at the very bottom.
"This is where we're staying?" I whisper, looking back at Ethan who has a massive smile on his face. "It's beautiful."
"Yeah, I know, and the house is even nicer. It belongs to Scar and Felix now, but it was their parents before they sadly died together." He tells me, and I blink at him in shock.
"Do you know why?" I ask.
"Yeah, Rosa had terminal cancer, she didn't have long left, and there was always a plan that when it got too painful, she'd... do it – not just for herself, she didn't want to put her family through the pain of watching her fade away. When she died, Anthony followed her minutes after. That was never supposed to happen, but I guess love does that to some people." He says, and my heart breaks for not only Felix and Scar, but also Anthony even though he's sadly no longer here.
"How old was Felix then?" I whisper.
"Fifteen, which is no age to lose both parents. They were amazing people, but I only met them a few times since Scar adopted me in June and they died in the August." He says with a sad smile.
"So, Felix doesn't mind coming here?" I ask, referring to the beach house, assuming it must bring back old memories.
"No, well, it's been nearly six years, so not now, but at first, no one came, and I didn't even know it existed. Scar was the first person to come back here, and he brought Maria just before she gave birth to the twins – who are now four as you know; the little devils." He says and I laugh, shoving his shoulder slightly. "Anyway, we've been coming here every summer since then. It was massive thing for Felix; the first time, but he loves coming now. We sometimes take little trips out here, just the two of us. It's filled with happy memories, and we only want to continue that."
"And then that's what we shall do." I smile over at him. "How come you never mentioned this was here?"
"I wanted to surprise you at one point with this, but obviously things happened." He mutters disappointingly, and I sigh, knowing that all too well. "But, at least this way, we've got all our friends. It'll be more fun."
"I'm sure it would have been great just the two of us, and I would have loved it." I assure him, hoping him not to belittle the idea because it sounds amazing, and so thoughtful.
"Everyone, we're finally fucking here!" Felix yells suddenly, and I immediately look out of the window, my jaw dropping in total awe when I see the place he's parking into.
When they mentioned we were going to a beach house, I pictured a house in mind, maybe four bedrooms, but I'm going to go out on a hunch here and say there's more than that. These 'houses' are massive, they're more like mansions and villas.
"Is this on the beach-front?" I ask Ethan.
"Yep, there's a gate from the backyard." He says with a smile.
"Wow." I whisper under my breath.
Everyone is quick to evacuate the van, eager to see the ocean, whereas I have literally made myself at home and need to not only put my shoes back on, but pack my bag. Thankfully, there's only a few bits, and a blanket to fold which Ethan gladly takes before he climbs out, and I hand him my purse as I push the soul of my foot into my sneakers before following him.
With a smile on my face, I jump down from the van, and twirl around as I inhale the refreshing sea air. When I stop, I catch Ethan smiling at me in amusement, and I gladly take my purse from his outstretched hand as I walk towards the trunk.
"Chest, get your case." Felix catches my attention and I immediately scowl at the nickname.
"When will you finally stop calling me that?" I ask in annoyance, knowing the answer already.
"Never, Chest." He grins, handing me my case and my arm automatically slumps down, my shoulder dropping as it does and I hiss at the slight pull. Wow, that's heavy. I probably shouldn't have packed so much.
"How the fuck did that name come about anyhow?" Matt asks with a laugh.
"Francesca; Chesca; Chest; they're apparently very similar." I roll my eyes.
"I mean... they are." He says and I groan. If he starts calling me it too, I don't think I'll be able to cope.
"Come on, I wanna look around." Hanna enthuses, and I nod, agreeing with her.
"Okay, okay, follow my lead." Felix wears a wide smile, obviously happy to be back here.
"Be ready for the whole tour." Ethan whispers close to my ear.
"Don't worry, I expect nothing less." I say with a giggle.
Ethan makes sure the van is locked, testing one of the doors before we catch up to everyone at the front door of the house waiting for Felix to unlock it. As we wait, I look up at the vast building, the walls an ivory white, and several large windows scattering it. I can only assume it's the same the whole way around.
Walking through the front door, there's a very wide hallway, only lit by an overhead strip light, no windows in here aside from the little one in the front door. Numerous family photographs in frames are hung, pretty much covering the walls that are magnolia, giving a comfortable, homie vibe. The flooring as I expected, is wooden – a light beige color, fitting to the beach style they have going here. All four of the doors are light oak, the same color as the large staircase to the right, leading upstairs.
"Woah." Matt blurts out, turning around in awe – same Matt, same.
"Welcome to Casa Campbell." Felix muses before he starts effortlessly giving us the tour. "So, there is a bathroom on your right – it's nothing special, just a toilet and sink, but very ideal when you're drunk. Now, through the first door to the left is the dining room we hardly ever use, but have a peep in if you'd like."
"He's loving this, isn't he?" I whisper back to Ethan, who only nods in response with a grin.
"As you can see, lovely staircase and more photos of baby me, and Scar before he actually had the scar. Now, there's two more doors – one of them leads to an office, it's boring, you can go in there if you like, but again, it's boring and the AC doesn't work. The other door leads to the main room, so drop your bags and follow me, I don't expect you to carry them around." He says which I'm extremely grateful of, my arm feels like it's about to drop off.
I leave my case next to Ethan's large gym bag which I assume is full of his clothes for the weekend. Once Felix opens the door to the next room, my jaw immediately falls ajar as my eyes fix on the most obvious thing in the room – the side opposite is completely see-through; there's glass panes covering it, and only when I look closer, do I see double doors at either end, paved steps leading down to the 'backyard'. I don't know who would call that a backyard, but I certainly wouldn't. As well as the massive lawn – beach beds and chairs scattering it – there's also a pool with a diving board, pavement surrounding the body of water. And, at the very bottom of the backyard, there's a gate leading right onto the beach.
"Um.... that's the backyard?" I get out finally, turning around to Ethan.
"Yep, you're not going to want to leave this place." He whispers with a smile.
Finally taking in the actual room that I simply ignored, I blink, adjusting my eyes to the brightness in here. A beautiful kitchen is to the left, the color scheme for all the cabinets and wood is, as before, light oak, and the countertops are marble, as well as the island.
The kitchen only takes up a small portion of the room despite how big it actually is, the open-plan living room taking up the rest. With a fireplace in the center of the right wall, a very large television above it, the dark grey 'u' shaped sofa is placed, so it's created a little cozy nook, quite like the apartment, and a large grey rug sits in front of it. The sofa looks pretty much brand new, and I, in all honestly, didn't know they made sofa's this big, but it definitely works in here.
Even though the place is very modern, it's decorated so it's also very rustic and old timey, and comfortable for children to also stay here. It feels very homey, strangely enough.
"Um, what, this is your beach house?!" Hanna blurts out, looking around in shock.
"Yep, mine, Scar and Ethan's; it's... big, but welcome. I need to immediately point out that there is curtains to block out that massive wall of light when we're all dying of hangovers, so don't worry about that." Felix says, and I sigh, very thankful because that would simply feel like death.
"I didn't expect this." Lauren says quietly, and I smile because for once, she doesn't have anything smart or snarky to say.
"Well, little one, welcome to Casa-" He's about to finish that sentence before she cuts him off.
"Casa Campbell, got it." She nods, a little smile appearing on her features.
"Mate, shall we show them the rooms and let them settle in. It's like, what, nearly six now? We'll order some food, get the fire on outside and that." Ethan suggests, and Felix smiles in response.
"Okay, let's hop back on the Felix's tour train, we've only got a few stops left. By the way, quick side note, you've all got a bedroom each." Felix quickly adds, and I smile, thankful because I have craved a night, just one night alone.
We all follow Felix once again, and grab our bags before we go upstairs, and to no surprise whatsoever, the photo frames continued along the walls. To keep up with everyone, I couldn't look too long but I know I'm definitely going to when I have the time. I just love photographs, and I'm sure there will be a photo of teenage Ethan somewhere. At least one, and I'm dying to find it.
"Okay, this conductor is quite frankly... exhausted, so these first four bedrooms are guest rooms, they all look the same, so chose your pick." Felix says casually.
"Of course you wouldn't finish the job." Ethan says, rolling his eyes. "Anyway, the other four bedrooms down there are mine, Felix's, Scar and Maria's, and then the twins'. If you need us, we're literally down there."
"Okay, got it." Matt says with a smile, heading towards the first room on the right.
"Wait, where's the bathroom?" Lauren asks, Matt halting in his steps at her question, waiting to find out.
"You've all got one each." Felix says, and I should be surprised, but at this point, I aren't.
"Okay, thank you, Felix." Lauren grins before pushing open the first door on the left.
When Lauren and Matt are in their rooms, Felix turns to me with a surprised look on his face.
"She was just weirdly nice to me." He whispers.
"I think she's just grateful." I laugh at his surprised state.
"Might do this more often." He mutters under his breath, and I smile in response as he walks down the hall.
"Come on girls, I'll actually show you to your rooms." Ethan says, and Hanna spins around with a grin on her face.
"No need, I think I can find it myself, but, by all means, show Frankie." Hanna says, and I frown at her words, slightly confused because I'm sure she hated his guts yesterday.
"Will do." Ethan says hesitantly, equally confused as I am at her change of tune.
Once her door is shut closed, leaving Ethan and me alone, I smile up at him, the excitement of everything truly coming to the surface. This is where we're staying this weekend.
"I can't believe this has been in your life and you never mentioned it." I whisper giddily, heading towards the room on the right, and he chuckles, following behind me.
"Well, first of all, I'd like to point out we were in a relationship for one month, and even though I wanted to bring you here in the future, I wasn't going to tell you that, that soon. And second of all, I had never been in a relationship, and I had no clue what I was doing... I still don't. I mean, breaking up with you probably wasn't a good thing either, but-" He says, but I cut him off from his chaotic ramble that was going to just continue.
"You saved me by breaking up with me." I whisper, looking up at him with a serious look.
"Meh, you saved me by being with me." He shrugs, and I duck my head down, hiding the smile because as stupid as it sounds, I feel like a teenager around him. "Now, let me show you your room."
Walking into what I'll call my bedroom for the next few days, I smile at how shockingly normal it is – there's a queen bed with ivory white sheets in the middle of the room, against the left wall, and a television opposite. There's two doors; one next the television, and one at the far end, next to the bed, and I assume that they're the bathroom and closet.
"Is this okay with you, princess?" Ethan asks.
"It's perfect, thank you." I whisper, quickly rolling my eyes at the nickname before I turn around to face him. He's leant against the doorframe, his t-shirt riding up his torso slightly.
"I'm the furthest door on this side." He tells me, and I nod shyly, unsure why I'm shy at his words but for some reason I am. "See you."
I wave awkwardly, hating the little exchange as he leaves me be. When the door shuts, I groan, lying back on the bed, annoyed with myself. That couldn't have gone... more awkward. When Ethan and I hang out, whether it's at his apartment or my dorm, we leave each other at the end, but, it's the first time we're staying in the same place, and truly, I don't know how to behave.
It's uncharted territory.
~~
Walking through the door into the main room, I frown when I see no one in here, so I venture towards the vast window, and smile when I see people out there. It's later now, and the sun is setting over the ocean as I walk down the paved stairs.
"Frankie Frank!" Felix yells, and I smile as I walk down the last couple steps.
"Hi, is everyone out here?" I ask, still somewhat dazed from my nap. Yes, I napped again, can you blame me? Also, the meds that I take for travel sickness make me kind of tired.
"Ethan's getting a shower, he'll be down soon, but pretty much yes. Matt mentioned you were asleep?" He questions with a frown.
"Yeah, I was tired. Today's been busy; you know?" I chuckle as I approach them. They're all sat around a burnt out fire-pit, several comfy chair surrounding it. I sit down in the seat next to Matt, who kindly puts a blanket over my shoulders, the ocean breeze making it somewhat chilly out here.
"Get your sleep, I wish I had." He jokes, and I give him a tight-lipped smile, knowing that he must be exhausted after not only a day of college, work, but also driving us all down here.
"So, what's the plan?" Hanna asks, her chin leant on her knee which is pulled to her chest.
"Pizza is on the way, and we're going to have some drinks, maybe play a few games." He says, and the idea of that sounds like the perfect way to end the day.
"Ooh, beer pong." Lauren smiles, and I immediately shake my head. The last time we played that, which was quite a while ago now, Matt had to carry both Lauren and I out of there over his shoulder because we had drank too much. That game is dangerous! One second you're sober, next you're swaying sideways.
"How about beer pong but make it shots of vodka?" Felix says to her.
"How would that even work?" Hanna asks with a frown, and she's not wrong. Ping-Pong balls in shot glasses? Yeah, I don't think so.
"They'll be in actual cups, just one shot of vodka in each... or maybe more." He says, a wicked grin on his face.
"Yeah, I'm down. Frankie?" Matt turns to me.
"One game, that's it, and I'm out." I point at him with a stern voice.
"Fair enough." Hanna chuckles.
The noise of a door opening fills my ears, and I frown looking towards the stairs, only for a smile to replace it when I see Ethan start to jog down them, pulling down a black tee over his torso, then running the same hand through his wet hair whilst his other is occupied with the food. My eyes dance over him as I quite literally forget how to breathe. Moments like these; when I catch myself staring, it's when I realize how deeply in love I am with him. It's fucking terrifying.
"Hey." Ethan greets everyone.
"Hola." Lauren smiles, and I chuckle at her use of Spanish, knowing she doesn't know any other word besides that.
"Food!" Hanna exclaims.
"Yes, food finally. We've just been discussing tonight's activities." Felix says as Ethan hands out the pizza boxes, knowing whose is whose because everyone has different toppings.
"And what are they?" Ethan laughs, running his hand through his wet hair again before he subconsciously takes the seat next to me, our pizza in hand.
"Okay, so, vodka style beer pong. A game of truth or dare, because, well, it's very harmless. I also wanna get to know more about you all, so maybe never have I ever too – that's always fun." Felix says, and I agree, that's one of my favorite games to play whilst in drunken company.
"Sounds good." Ethan nods along before turning to me with a smile, and he mouths a 'hi'.
"Hi." I whisper, flattening my hands out on my joggers as I avoid his eye contact.
"Barbeque pizza; that okay with you?" He asks, opening the box, and my mouth waters at the sight. I know many hate barbeque sauce, especially on pizza, but this will always be my favorite. I'm also going to ignore the fact that we ate this for dinner last night as well because I simply don't care.
"It's perfect, thank you." I say, smiling like I have done this whole day.
As always food was amazing, and so was the company – I really have got the best bunch of friends. In the middle of our meal, Felix decided to go into the house, bring down a whole bunch of drinks, so we could start the night right, and I'm already a teensy bit tipsy as we sit around the now lit fire pit. It's been nearly an hour since we finished food, and we're in the middle of a random question roulette.
"Okay my turn finally, you girls are question hogs. Anyway, what age did you all lose your virginities, where and how was it?" Felix asks, leaning on his elbows. "I'll go first. I was sixteen at the time, and it was in the girl's dad's truck. It was pretty good to be honest."
"For you." Hanna says with a laugh.
"Wait, you had sex in her fathers car?" Matt asks, and I laugh, that's such a Felix thing to do.
"Back of the truck, it was on our second date, there was a mattress and everything. Quite fucking romantic to be fair." He says, and I hate to admit, it doesn't sound all bad.
"Okay, that's kinda good for a first time." Hanna says, and I nod, agreeing.
"I'll go next. I was eighteen, it was on prom night, to a friend in a hotel room." Lauren says with a smile, making me as well as everyone else, genuinely shocked because I really didn't expect that. "Okay, I know, I know I was older than some, but I was very into my studies, and it never came up. Me and him, we had a pact that if we were both virgins at the end of high school, we'd do it on prom night, and turns out we were. We had sex, then did facemasks and watched High School Musical Three. And the sex was actually pretty good."
"Wait, can I trade my first time with you?" I blurt out, totally fucking jealous. I want that.
"Tell me yours first then." She chuckles in response.
"I was fourteen, it was with my first ever boyfriend, he was thirteen. We did it in his bedroom, he lasted close to twenty seconds, may have been ten. And his brother walked in less than a minute after." I say, and her mouth drops open, everyone else staring at me in shock. "Honestly I was questioning if there was a refund policy."
"Please tell me you didn't stay with him?" Felix asks, looking hopeful.
"We were together for four full years." I say, and his eyes widen, choking out a cough.
"Did it improve?" He asks.
"The sex?" I clarify, and he nods hesitantly, only making me laugh. "That first time was the first time I was ever underneath the fucker, I was always on top. He wouldn't do any work. It was always just awful. I broke up with him on graduation day, after a reality check on my life. He had cheated on me like twenty times throughout the relationship, and enough was enough."
"Still want to kill that prick." Ethan mutters.
"Me too, who else wants to kill Chris?" Matt asks, everyone's hands raising including my own.
"Anyway, that was my first time. You wanna trade?" I ask Lauren who only shakes her head with a look of disgust on her features.
"I'll go next, to get it out of the way. I had just turned thirteen, it was in my bedroom. It was pretty shit." Ethan's short with his answer, and I sense there's something behind it. I guessed that when he first told me, back in New York, but I don't want to press, and it's not my business.
"Francesca, you were fourteen. Ethan, you were thirteen?! Guys, you were children, literal children." Matt says somewhat sympathetically and I laugh, nodding. It didn't matter back then though, it just felt right in that moment, and I was personally ready for it. "I was seventeen, nearly eighteen. I knew I was gay for years, but I suppressed it for so long, however I came out at seventeen, met my ex, we were together for six months. Around a month into it, we had sex. That was literally the only time I ever did anal, I've never again."
"Wait, you've done anal once?" Felix asks in surprise, my exact reaction when he told me.
"Yep, apparently me being a top is a surprise to everyone..." Matt says with a laugh.
"I've walked in on him and Kieran, he's not lying." I confirm, hating the memory that's imprinted in my brain. Nothing can scrub it out.
"We don't speak about that." Matt points at me.
"My poor fucking eyes." I shiver, no one wants to see your best friend have sex. Nope, no way.
"You walked in on us! You have ears!" He defends.
"I was listening to Led Zeppelin, the moans were in my ears anyway!" I exclaim my point.
"You were listening to Whole Lotta Love, weren't you?" Ethan laughs, a smile etched on his face when I look over at him.
"Of course I was." I roll my eyes that, that was even a question. Whole Lotta Love, no fucking words for that song.
"Am I seriously last?" Hanna asks, and I check around, nodding when I realize everyone's gone already. "Ugh fine. I was sixteen, at a party, and she was also the first girl I slept with."
"Wait! Hold the motherfucking phone!" Matt yells, jumping up from his seat. He dramatically takes a breath before composing himself. "Since when have you slept with women? Wait, no, wrong question. Why did I not know of this?!"
I feel like I'm the only one who isn't surprised. I mean, Hanna hasn't exactly been shy in the past, talking on how attractive girls are on the television.
"I'm unlabeled, so I just never mentioned it. It changes nothing. I just like sleeping with everyone." She shrugs her shoulders, and I smile at everyone's reactions, they're just happy for her, only Matt being the dramatic bitch he is. "But, I have to say. Girls are better than guys in the sack."
"I have to agree." I mutter under my breath, Ethan not included in that answer. It's not a shock, everyone knows about the little phase I went through, I literally got a pat on the back one morning from Matt when he saw a girl in my bed.
"I'm a little offended in all honesty." Ethan whispers, and I smile over.
"You're not included, you're... okay." I say, lying through my teeth at the downplay of how good he is, earning a scoff from him.
"I'll remember that when you want me." He murmurs, making a blush rise to my cheeks, and I smile down at my hands, so he can't see.
"We had sex with the same girl." Hanna says with a laugh, my eyes widening at her revelation.
"What?!" I exclaim in total shock.
"Yeah, around a week after you, she remembered the dorm." She says, and I purse my lips together.
"Oh my God, this is amazing. I wonder who was better." Matt laughs as a joke, and my eyes direct over to Hanna.
"Me, by far." Hanna says and I scoff.
"Wanna go? I'll change your mind." I say, earning a smile from her. "Let me remind you that I was always on top, in charge for four fucking years. Four."
"Are we getting front row seats or?" Matt asks.
"Wait, you've slept with girls too?" Felix asks me, processing everything, and I look up at him.
"Yep, I'm straight though." I say, remembering my first year of college, the first couple months were spent experimenting quite a lot. Those first couple months were fast paced; sex, drugs and constant partying. I really hated men at that point of my life and I started questioning my sexuality, so I experimented; I slept with girls instead. Now as I've come to terms with everything, I see their attraction, I just aren't attracted.
In the moment it was just a feel good high.
"Many guys, especially the ones I have met, are very toxic with their own masculinity, whereas girls really don't care. I am not saying all guys by the way because some guys have probably kissed their friends, but it's very likely with girls, especially when drunk. Like I'm always kissing my friends when I'm drunk." Hanna says, and I nod, agreeing.
"Oh yeah, same, I've kissed both of them. It's just a thing that happens." Lauren says casually.
"See, this is true. I've kissed Francesca several times and I'm one-hundred percent gay." Matt says, and I laugh, nodding.
"Wait, has everyone but me kissed Francesca?" Felix asks, and I look around, feeling quite... I don't know, bad, when I realize he's right.
"Sorry, but it's staying that way. I'm not kissing my ex's uncle." I say, then laughing at how weird that sounds.
"I'm younger than him!" He defends.
"Still my uncle." Ethan pats his shoulder.
"And you're like my brother now, it's weird." I say, smiling at him, hoping he doesn't think I mean it any other way because it's not. Felix is insanely attractive, like I have a thing for tattoo's and he totally could get it if he wasn't my ex's uncle, and as I said, I kinda see him as a brotherly figure, so it'd be weird now.
"She's a good kisser if that makes it better?" Matt smiles, and I look over at Ethan to see his reaction, and to no surprise, his jaw is clenched.
"Okay, moving on. How about we play a few rounds of truth or dare?" I suggest, needing the conversation to change before Ethan snaps and hits someone. Secretly though it's nice to see him somewhat jealous.
"Yes, I'll go first." Hanna says, clapping her hands together. "Um, Francesca; truth or dare?"
"Truth." I'm too lazy right now for a dare.
"Seriously, girl, you're boring. Uh, fine. I guess... what's your favorite sex position?" She rolls her eyes at the lame question, and I assume she had a dare ready to ask.
"Doggy or reverse cowgirl." I blush, answering quickly before facing Matt. "Matt; truth or dare?"
"Dare." Matt says cockily.
"Send a text to our bestie Kieran, and act like the desperate bitch I know you are." I smile, his own dropping in response.
"Seriously?" He whines, pulling out his phone.
"Yes, and make it desperate, like end of the world bullshit kinda desperate." I add, loving this a bit too much as I take a sip of my drink. "Oh, and loud and clear when you tell us."
"Such a bitch." He mutters and Hanna laughs, smiling over at me. "Fine, whilst I do this, Felix; truth or dare?"
"Truth." Felix says, quickly downing the rest of his drink.
"Shortest time you've lasted?" Matt doesn't hesitate a second, distracted typing out the message.
"Like eight seconds – not my proudest moment." Felix muses to himself like he is proud.
"Did you at least go down on the girl and make her finish after?" Hanna groans.
"I was seventeen, I didn't care!" Felix excuses himself, and I roll my eyes, not at all surprised.
"Wow, just wow." Lauren laughs, shaking her head at him. "I can't believe you fucked me."
"You let me, so jokes on you. And you finished, I'm a changed man, thank you very much." He says her, and she smiles, tucking her hair out of the way at his words. I really mean it when I say, if they don't get together, the universe is simply corrupt. "Anyway, little one; truth or dare?"
"Dare." She crosses her arms over her chest.
"I dare you... to kiss... me." He smirks, his eyes never leaving hers. I won't lie and say I didn't expect that, but it's Felix and I totally did.
"Hell no! You'd just love that, wouldn't you?" She rolls her eyes.
"It's a dare, you can't pass." He shrugs at her predicament, a smile on his face.
"Sure I can. I aren't doing it." She refuses.
"Fine, do a truth." He bargains which is only fair.
"Okay, shoot." She smiles at his change of tune.
"What is the most embarrassing thing you've ever done after sex?" He asks in a teasing tone, and I frown, sensing there's something behind that question.
"Fuck it." She mumbles to herself before swinging her leg over his, leaving me in shock as she crashes her lips on his.
"Woah, what?!" Hanna blinks, choking on her drink.
"I-" I can't speak, Lauren and Felix are kissing. I realize it's a dare, but they're kissing.
Lauren's hands are in his hair; Felix's are roaming her body, and I'm in total shock as I watch this pan out. It feels almost illegal to watch this happen. Obviously they've slept together before now, but no one ever saw a kiss between them, it's just been flirty banter. I'm in total and utter shock that she's kissing him, and not in a 'friendly' way either.
"I feel like we should have put a bet on them instead." Matt laughs, and Ethan frowns at me in confusion.
"A bet?" Ethan questions.
"Doesn't matter." I dismiss him, deciding not to tell him about the bet my idiot friends made on us having sex this weekend. I'm almost one-hundred percent sure it won't happen.
"That was a low blow and you know it, so I hope you enjoyed yourself, that's the last time you will ever touch me." Lauren says, and Felix only rolls his eyes in response, quickly situating his pants when she climbs off his lap.
Lauren reaches forward and grabs the bottle of vodka from the floor, downing some of the contents before putting it back down.
"Now, who's next?" She asks, looking around. "Oh wait, it's me. Ethan, truth or dare?"
"Dare; hit me." Ethan chuckles.
That's how the next hour of rounds went – shameless things were revealed, funny dares have been made. And now, as Felix down the rest of the vodka from the bottle, he stands up from his seat, stumbling slightly, preparing for the final dare of the night.
"I can't believe you dared me this!" Felix slurs, pointing an accusing finger at Lauren.
"Payback's a bitch, baby." Lauren smiles up at him, her eyes red from the joints that were passed around.
"So fucking unfair." He mutters under his breath.
"I can't wait for this." Ethan laughs, and I giggle, lying my head on his shoulder.
"I'm glad you guys are happy!" Felix yells, rolling his eyes before he lifts his shirt over his head, stumbling slightly as his tattoos come to show. I'm not over the fact his whole upper body is inked.
"Do we need music for the show?" Matt jokes as Felix continues to strip as Lauren asked.
"No, this is going to be quick." Felix dismisses it.
"Isn't he a little too drunk to be doing this?" I whisper to Ethan, and he shrugs, smiling over at me. I'm a little uneasy about the fact he could quite literally die.
"If he drowns, I'll jump in and save him, does that make you feel better?" Ethan asks, and I nod, it only easing me a bit because Ethan looks quite comfortable with my blanket draped over his shoulders. I believe if Felix does drown, he wouldn't hesitate to help, however he looks awfully comfy.
As Felix stumbles out of his pants, Lauren raises a brow at him, gesturing for his boxers as well. She's really not going easy on him, is she? My vision is quickly covered by Ethan's hand, him not allowing me to see this, but thankfully he removes it just in time for Felix to land in the pool, fully naked I must add.
"Seriously?" I look over at Ethan.
"You didn't need to see that." He tells me as if it's a promise, and I giggle slightly at his disgusted facial expression.
"I'm cold, Fucking hell, I'm so cold." Felix screeches like a little girl when he comes up for air, and we all erupt into laughter as he shakes his head – his long, wet hair makes him look like a drowned rat almost, and he truly looks freezing.
"Get a towel then, you weirdo." Ethan laughs, lying his head on mind which is on his shoulder.
"Is no one going to offer to me it, or do I have to walk in the house myself?" Felix asks.
"Definitely the second one." Lauren nods, loving how this dare planned out.
"I hate you guys so much." He groans walking towards the steps, and before Ethan can cover my eyes again, I see him completely fucking naked. I duck my head further into Ethan shoulder, who only laughs deeply in response.
"You really aren't ashamed to show it all off, are you?" Lauren scoffs.
"Don't you fucking comment, I'm cold!" He says and I dare look up to see him waddle towards the stairs, attempting to cover himself up the best as he can with just two hands.
I think that's enough fun for tonight.

LONG FUCKING CHAPTER, but this has taken 10, TEN, fucking days to complete. I'm so writers blocked it's not even funny. I'm so frustrated. I have less than a week until the release date for the 1st and 2nd chapter, and I'm nowhere near where I wanted to be. I wanted to have over 10 chapters done, so I may not be taking the break in July as I planned which sucks. I want you guys to have continuous updates, I don't want there to be a waiting game. If there is, I'm sorry.
Btw I'm so glad Felix is now in the main friendship group because he's literally one of my favorite characters I've ever written. Have we got any predictions for the future with him?
Life update: I had my student day at college the other day and I was so nervous, but it turned out amazing! I met some new friends, they're all really nice. I'm starting college in September and GOD I'm nervous about it, but it's better now that I know the campus and everything. THE WEATHER in England is back to shit again, but when you're reading this, I hope it's warm. I miss it.
Question of the chapter:
Who would you LOVE to see in concert?
1D but like they need to reunite first, and realistically those tickets will be sold out in seconds. I do want to see all of the boys though, especially Harry and Niall because they're my favorites. I also want to see Ben Howard but he sadly doesn't tour anymore. Oooh, also Florence and The Machine!
I hope this chapter was okay!
