THIRD PERSON

SIX WEEKS

Twins were not something Tom had expected. Two children? It somehow made him feel twice as bad- which he didn't think he could feel worse.

The call was two days ago.

"There are two...?" Tom asks the woman. It was an odd choice to be the first thing she said in four years.

"Twins."

"Twins!?" His heart drops, just imagining the double sleepless nights, imagining the the exhaustion.

"Yeah. Seren and Euphie- although in Korean its Areum, not Euphie."

"Two gir-"

"A boy and a girl."

"Do they speak English?" Tom's hopeful that they do.

"Yeah. Seren's a lot better with languages though. Euphie doesn't like practicing her English."

The two had talked for a long time, only about the kids though. Y/N agreed to let the kids meet him today at the park. Tom was really excited, he had brought the electric car for them too.

The night before Y/N had explained to Seren and Euphie that they would be meeting a man today, they didn't need to act nice if they didn't like him. And they had to tell her if he was mean in any way.

TOM FOCUS

Now, Tom was waiting at the meeting spot, scanning every face he sees.

And then there's Y/N, her hands connected with two children, walking towards him.

The mas stares in awe. A little girl slowly skips, another little boy coming to join her. A different boy is at the other side of the woman, he's looking around,  studying everything.

Tom watches them for a minute before they get to him. Two men stay behind Y/N sending daggers at him. Tom's heart is rapid, and it only gets faster when Y/N and tom make eye contact fir the first time in years.

Y/N's palms were sweaty, her breathing shallow and heart rampant. She squeezes her children's hands before bending down and bringing them in front of her.

"Do you remember the man I told you about yesterday?"

"Yes." They both answer, nodding.

"Well, this is him. Say hi, guys."

The two turn to face the man who bends down to their level.

"Hi." Euphie gives a small wave before stepping back into Y/N's chest to hide.

Seren studies the man's face. "Hello."

"Hi." Tom smiles. He's trying his hardest not to cry at the sight of his children. "My name is Tom."

"Okay." Seren responds before turning towards mom.

"Can we go play now?"

Y/N laughs, catching Tom's attention. His heart skips at the glorious sound. Holy fuck did he miss that laugh. "You guys can go." Y/N finally stands up and watches her kids, along with Jungkook, run towards the play ground. Tom remembers the bag he's holding, making a mental note to give it to the kids later.

"Do you two want some space?" Namjoon asks. Y/N and Tom look at each other.

"That'd be nice." Tom nods. The two watch as Namjoon and Jin walk away, going to watch the children play.

Y/N is the first to speak, "What the fuck, Tom?"

"Hello to you, too." Tom  smiles.

"Why?"

"I'm sorry." His smile disappears, regret taking its place.

"For which thing?"

"I'm sorry I tracked you down. I know I should have done things on your terms, but I really wanted to see our kids, Y/N. I regret leaving you back then. I wish I was hear the last 4 years, I wish I was better." A tear slips from his eye. It takes lots of self restraint for Y/N to not reach up and wipe it away.

The woman sighs, "You can't change what you did."

"I don't expect you to forgive me, especially now."

"Good, because I wasn't going to." Y/N starts walking along the path, tom following close behind.

"For the last few months I couldn't stop thinking about you."

"Months? Try years of looking at children who look like the guy that left you," She scoffs. "it would be torture if I didn't love them."

Tom goes silent before speaking up again, "Why Korea?" He moves next to her now.

"I have friends here that supported me... And I thought you'd never find me here." She replies honestly.

"Oh." Is all he replies.

"You really fucked me up, you know that?"

"I figured..."

"I let my walls down to be with you and you did the same very thing that made them be there in the first place." She watches the ground ahead as they walk, her chest heavy.

"I'm sorry."

"I hope you are."

"That night, when I came back home to the apartment and you weren't there, I don't think I've ever experienced something as horrible as that feeling."

"I just did what you asked."

Tom nods, "I wish you hadn't."

"I wish I didn't do a lot of things, but that one's not included." Y/N responds, turning her head to look at him.

The two make eye contact. Tom studies her face, looking for the slightest hint of a lie and getting none. His heart aches, sadness devouring him whole.

"That's valid." Tom nods, breaking the gaze.

"You came here for the kids, let's not go past that."

The two walk in silence for the rest of the time until they get back to the playground. Tom gives Seren and Euphie the toy car, showing them how it works and then playing with them. Euphie tries to race the car and fails, causing Tom to pick her up and run with her, crossing the finish line first.

"We did it!" Euphie yells, the largest smile on her face. Seren walks behind the two, "Speak English, he can't understand us."

"Won!" Euphie yells in English this time, still cheering.

"We did!" Tom smiles wide, throwing Euphie up and down causing her to giggle.

"My turn." Seren says once the two stop, handing the small girl the controller.

The girl hums a yes and watches Seren get lined up with the car. "One! Two!" she pauses, "Three!" It takes a second, but she gets the car to start moving, quickly racing past Seren and across the finish.

Y/N, Namjoon, and Jin- who's holding a sleeping Jungkook- watch the three play. "He's good with them, isn't he?" Y/N asks, her voice kind of sad.

"He is." Namjoon confirms, nodding. "It annoys me."

Hi! 'Tis I. I hope you all had happy holidays, 2020 is about to come to an end, I'm sure we're all excited.

What was your favorite present this year? Mine is a 6 foot teddy bear that I've been asking for for months. I severely underestimated the space it takes up haha.

I hope you all are doing amazing, I'm doing well myself.

Thank you again for always supporting me, you have no idea how much I appreciate it. I have to go visit family now, I'll see you again soon.
