PROLOGUE

VIOLET ROBINSON SIGHED SOFTLY, her body laid across the hood of her best friend, Stiles', Jeep. Next to her, her other best friend, Scott, sat at the edge of the hood, looking up thoughtfully at the full moon.

"All right, so I found some cool three bedrooms in the Mission District, but they're pretty expensive. A couple in Haight and Ashbury. Also expensive." Stiles listed, looking down at the map of nearby towns and circling all the places he found with a red sharpie.

Scott looked down at the paler teenager. "What about Berkeley? Don't a lot of students live around there?"

Stiles nodded. "Yeah, yeah, we could try Nob Hill." He made yet another circle in red. "But, the Jeep would probably burn through a lot of clutches."

Violet snorted, bringing her friends attention to her. "You're bringing the Jeep?"

He narrowed his eyes at the petite blonde girl. "You know the plan, okay. No one gets left behind. That's the plan." Scott and Violet shared an amused look.

"Lydia's not gonna have a problem getting into Stanford. Kira's thinking USF. Malia's, uh, gonna, you know, she'll figure something out, okay. The plan's perfect."

"Or we could also wait until we actually get into college and then figure out where to live." The true alpha suggested, grinning at Stiles.

Stiles' shoulders dropped as he looking between his two best friends. "I have a vision, guys. Okay? And it is a beautiful vision. Don't ruin the vision. Okay, we can check out the East Bay. Haven't looked at Oakland yet, you know." Both of the humans looked up at Scott upon receiving no reply, following his gaze to the bright moon in the sky.

"You okay? Starting to feel it?" Violet asked, casting her friend a concerned glance.

Scott shook his head. "No. Just thinking."

Stiles placed the cap on his sharpie, tossing it down as Violet sat up on the Jeep. "About what?"

"Senior year." The werewolf replied.

"Senior year? Come on, that's, that's–that's nothing. That's going to be easy." Stiles said, though Violet could tell he was more trying to convince himself.

Scott straightened in his spot, "It's more like something Deaton told me once." He looked at the two humans. "You ever hear of regression to the mean?"

"No, I don't think so." Stiles replied as Violet shook her head softly, a few of her blonde locks falling into her face.

"It was basically his way of saying that life can't ever be all bad or all good. You know, eventually things have to come back to the middle. So, think about the last few months. Things have been good, right? But not amazing." Scott explained.

His words brought a thoughtful expression to Violet's face, the pale girl bringing her bottom lip between her teeth as thoughts began to swarm her mind.

"Yeah, but no one's tried to kill us in six months either." Stiles added.

"Right. We've been pretty much in the middle for a while. Which means, at some point, the scale has to tip one way or the other." Scott replied. "Things are gonna get really good again."

Violet's head tilted back as she sighed. "Or really bad."

Thunder cracked loudly in the sky, bolts of lightning being see behind the clouds as wind blew, bringing a shiver down Violet's back. "Think it's been long enough?" Stiles spoke, following his friends leads and looking up at the dark sky.

"Yes!" A voice–that Violet admittedly forgot about for a bit–yelled out from behind them. The three friends turned their heads, their eyes landing on Liam who was still chained to the large tree they were parked in front of.

"Hey! Trying to have an adult conversation over here." Stiles yelled back. Violet rolled her hazel eyes, used to the banter between the human and the beta.

"All right, you're two years older than me." Liam argued back, his baby blue eyes rolling. "And I'm fine. Just let me go." He pleaded.

Reluctantly, the three older teens made their way to the tree, Scott taking the keys from his pocket to unlock Liam's chains. "It's not that we don't trust you–" The alpha began to reassure.

"It's that I don't trust you." Stiles interrupted, earning a slap on the arm from his small friend.

"–But after that last full moon..." Scott trailed off. It was obvious that from their facial expressions, all four of them were thinking of that night and the strange occurrences that happened.

Liam looked at his alpha, and then to Violet, with a desperate expression. "It was one slip up." He insisted.

Stiles gave him an incredulous look. "Slip up? A dozen calls to the Sheriff's Department about a "monstrous dog-boy" running around the streets of Beacon Hills naked. That's a slip up?"

Scott's head lifted to raise an eyebrow at his beta. "Why were you naked?"

Liam goes to throw his arms up but with the chains restricting his movements, only his hands moved. "It was really hot out that night, okay? Let me go."

Violet stepped closer, gazing at the boy (that at this point, was basically like her younger brother) with a worried expression. "You sure you're okay?"

Liam looked down at Violet, who was unfortunately about an inch shorter than him, and nodded softly. "It won't happen again."

"You're in complete and total control?" Scott asked. After a second Liam nodded, and his hesitation was just enough for Violet to realize that he was lying. "Yeah. Complete and total."

The chains fell loudly into the bag that Stiles had brought, the boy mentioned picking it up. Stiles wrapped an arm around Violet's small form, the teenagers beginning to walk away. Out of instinct, Violet glanced back just in time to see Liam look down at his bloody hands and all she could do was sigh.

He was still learning.

"Is it a party?" Liam questioned even though Stiles was the only one really paying attention as Scott and Violet were both on their phones trying to reach their other friends.

"It's not a party." Stiles responded, looking one hundred percent done with the younger boys questions.

"Then what's at midnight?" The beta tried again.

"Your bedtime." The spastic teenager replied. Liam glared at him, "Why aren't the girls going?"

Violet made a face, looking up from her phone and gesturing towards herself. "Um, I'm a girl?" She pointed out, only to be ignored.

"They're meeting us there, okay? And just stop asking questions, all right? It's a senior thing." The pale boy finalized, glancing back at the sophomore. "You'll know when you're a senior."

Scott's eyebrows furrowed at the small screen in front of him. "You guys having trouble with your phones?"

As Violet opened her mouth to answer, the engine began sputtering, the blue Jeep coming to a stop in the middle of the road. "Oh. What the hell?" Stiles mumbled.

Liam peaked over Stiles' shoulder. "You out of gas?"

"No, it's electrical." The human replied. "Probably the alternator again." Scott and Stiles both hopped out of the car and Violet opted to staying put; she knew less about cars than Stiles did and that was saying a lot.

Out of the corner of her eye, Violet could see Liam putting in his earbuds, her mouth opening in preparation to talk to him about what she had seen earlier. But the words never escape as lightning striked behind them. Very closely behind them.

"Guys..." Liam mumbled, his voice wary and a bit startled. The two look back again, this time a larger and more violent lightning strike landing on the pavement a few yards away from the Jeep. "Guys!" Violet yells instead, her heart beginning to race. Lightning didn't just naturally strike like that. She knew for a fact that things like that didn't just happen and she had a whopping 96 in science to back her up.

"Yeah, give us a second, please!" They hear Stiles call out. "Guys, stay in the car, okay?" Scott tells them in a softer and less agitated tone.

Another lightning strike is heard but the lifted up hood keeps the two teenagers inside the car from seeing anything. The car suddenly starts up as Violet tries to calm her rapid heart. Regression to the mean indeed.

Liam quickly climbs over the seat, poking his head out the window.

"Can we go now?"

Violet can see Malia talking to her dad as the Jeep pulls up, her face full of worry. Stiles honks to signal their arrival and Maila points at the vehicle before the father and daughter make their way over.

"Sorry we're late!" Stiles yells out, a grin planting itself on both the faces of Stiles and Malia as they greet each other with a kiss. One that made Violet's chest ache as she was reminded that she no longer had anyone to share a connection like that with.

As they pull away, Liam's head appears in between Scott and Stiles, a goofy expression on this face. "I'm sorry too."

Mr. Tate looks between the three boys, his eyes narrowed as his protectiveness for his daughter shined through. "You boys do remember I own a gun, right?"

Stiles nods stiffly. "Vividly." Mr. Tate nods, giving his daughter a wink as he leaves the group.

Once everyone had been squeezed in (with Violet being the smallest, she was now situated on Malia's lap with her short legs across Liam's, leaning against the window) all four heads turned towards Malia. "What?" The brunette questioned, her flannel clad shoulders dropping.

"Did you find out yet?" Violet asked, a look of realization coming across the werecoyote's face.

"Find out what?" Liam asked. Malia gave them a small nod. "They're gonna email me."

The beta tilted his head to the side, "Is this about summer school?" He asked, completely oblivious to how oblivious he should be about the situation they were speaking of. Malia's head snapped towards her boyfriend, a look of slight betrayal clear in her chestnut colored eyes. "You told him?"

Realizing that maybe it wasn't his business to know, Liam spoke again in an attempt to make things better, but instead made it much worse. "Uh...Oh, no, all they said was you had to go to summer school 'cause the principal said your test scores weren't good enough and you might have to repeat junior year."

"Liam, honey, please stop talking." Violet spoke up quietly as Malia's glare focused onto a very annoyed Stiles.

"We should've left him chained to the tree."

To say Beacon Hills Memorial was in chaos would be an understatement. Patients were being brought in on gurneys left and right for a reason that Violet or any of her friend had yet to find out. All they were supposed to do was make sure that Liam would be fine at the hospital with his step dad while they left for the high school. But, of course, nothing even that simple would be successful for the McCall pack.

"My dad's helping out in surgery. He's not gonna be done for hours." Liam informed Scott and Violet as the three of them hurried down one of the many hallways of the hospital. Time was really running out and considering their lives for the past couple of years, they could do with some normalcy. "So I'm either hanging out here or I could still go with you guys..." Liam said as they reached the elevator, not so subtly hinting at the fact that he desperately wanted to be apart of whatever senior thing they had going on.

"Show me your hands." Scott ordered after pressing down button on the elevator.

Liam's shoulders dropped as he stared at his Alpha. But upon seeing Scott's expression Liam defeatedly looked around to make sure no one would witness the next events. The beta pulled his hands from his pockets, opening them to reveal the dried blood from the now healed wounds caused by his claws. Liam sighed. "Okay, so I'm still having trouble."

Violet shook her head, placing a comforting hand on Liam's shoulder. "No. You're still learning." She corrected, offering him a small smile.

Scott wore a matching smile. "What do you do to stay focused on not changing? "

Liam reached into his collar, silently pulling out his earbuds as an answer. "But, it's not working." He tells them, his tone making it clear that he was upset.

"It's working enough." Scott assures him. "Listen, Derek told me that you were one of the strongest that he'd ever seen at your age. Now, coming from him that means a lot." The elevator dinged and the metal doors opened, both of the older teens beginning to step back. "Maybe means that things are gonna be harder for you for a while but it also means something else, doesn't it?" The true Alpha asked, holding the door as they both stepped inside.

Liam shrugged lightly. "That I'm really strong?"

Scott and Violet looked at each other with grins before looking back at Liam, speaking simultaneously. "Hell yeah."

Scott pulled his phone out immediately after the doors closed, Violet following his lead to see if either of them had heard back from Kira. "Anything?" Scott asked as they began to descend. Violet shook her head with a sigh. "Nothing. You?" She only received a repeat of her before actions.

As soon as the elevator reached the first floor, Stiles approached them with a face of anticipation. "Still can't reach Kira." Scott informed him.

The three of them began to walk back to the front of the hospital, Violet having to move slightly faster due to her shorter legs. "Okay, you reminded her about tonight though, right?" Stiles questioned.

The teen wolf shrugged with a nod. "I think so. She only texted me once this week."

Violet quirked an eyebrow, looking up at her werewolf best friend. "Once? How'd you guys leave things when she left for New York?"

"Well, they were good." Scott replied. "Yeah, I just said, you know, Don't worry about anything, just go and have fun."

At those words, Stiles made a face, staring at Scott in disbelief. "No–You told her to go have fun?"

Both Scott and Violet looked at Stiles in confusion. "Why? What's wrong with that?" Scott questione, glancing between his two best friends. Violet could only shrug, also not knowing why him telling Kira that would be a bad thing.

"Nothing." Stiles mumbled. "Nothing's wrong with it. Just–I don't know. That can be interpreted a lot of different ways."

Scott's eyebrows furrowed. "Like what?"

"Well, like, Don't worry, we're not exclusive. Go have fun with other guys." The awkward teenager informed him. A look of worry came upon Scott's face while Violet rolled her eyes. Stiles could really be ridiculous sometimes. Or all the time.

"No. No way." Scott immediately denied.

"Malia," Stiles turned around, catching his girlfriends attention. "If you were going away and I told you Don't worry, go have fun. What would you think I was talking about?"

The werecoyote tilted her head. "Fun like bowling? Or sex with other guys?"

Violet rolled her eyes once again. At this point she was amazed that they hadn't gotten stuck inside her head with how many years she's been best friends with Scott and Stiles.

The werewolf's eyes widened slightly. "Okay, yeah. Now I'm worried."

Their conversation was interrupted as all their attention was brought to yet another body being wheeled in, paramedics talking to each other as they passed by.

"Hey, Mom, where's all this coming from?" Scott questioned as Melissa passed them to go assist the paramedics.

The nurse turned and began to explain quickly as she continued to walk backwards. "A jackknifed tractor-trailer on 115, caused a major pile up." All of their shoulders dropped.

"Scott, there's only one way back into Beacon Hills from the airport." Violet spoke, bringing her hand up to anxiously bite on her nails.

"115." Scott realized, blinking in frustration.

Stiles' face dropped as he went to lean against the front desk. "Kira's never gonna make it."

Violet could practically see the light bulb go off in Scott's head and she couldn't help the smile that began to form on her face. Maybe they would actually get their chance at being normal teenagers for a night.

"I can get her. You guys head to the school. Lydia's probably already there. We'll meet you by midnight." Scott rushed as he grabbed his helmet and jogged to the entrance.

"How are you gonna get to her in the middle of a traffic jam?" Stiles exclaimed, worry clear on his pale face.

"We'll make it." Scott insisted. "Trust me."

"Nothing from Scott or Kira." Malia announced, glancing from her phone to Violet's, which showed that she hadn't received an answer either.

Stiles quickly showed them his phone screen. "And nothing from Lydia either."

"And I still don't know if I passed." The brunette sighed, looking down at her phone. Malia looked around at all the seniors entering and leaving the school. "I don't want to do this unless I'm actually a senior." The werecoyote Violet and Stiles.

Violet placed a hand on Malia's shoulder, offering her friend a comforting smile.
"Yeah." Stiles mumbled, glancing back for a second before going uncharacteristically silent. The two girls shared a look.

"Give is a minute." Malia quietly said to Violet, the blonde girl nodding before stepping away and letting the couple have their privacy.

Violet figured she might as well continue to try and contact her other friends as Stiles and Malia had their moment. She could recall hearing her name in the conversation but seeing the serious looks on their faces, kept herself from butting in.

It wasn't even five minutes later when Violet caught a figure running in their direction from the corner of her eye. She looked up and squinted, catching sight of a very familiar face.

"Liam?" Violet exclaimed as he ran right passed her. The human wasted no time in running after him, gasping as Malia broke away from her kiss with Stiles to push the beta down as he reached them.

"Oh, my God!" Stiles gaped from behind Malia's crouched form.

Liam panted as he caught his breath. "Scott's in trouble."

As soon as the words left Liam's mouth, the four friends didn't hesitate to track down Scott and run straight to where he was located. Violet didn't have to be a werewolf know that everyone was probably reeking of worry and fear.

Worry for their friend and fear that they might not get there quick enough to save Scott.

It didn't take them long to get there, but each of the friends could feel their stomachs sink and their chests ache at the sight of an unknown man with his claws sunken into Scott's chest. It seemed as if their world was going to fall apart as their friend was almost defeated.

But Scott McCall never ceased to amaze even his friends as he successfully stood back up, easily breaking the man's arm and pulling out the claws. Though when Violet took a good look at them, they were more like talons.

"I don't know who you are or what you thought you were going to do, but I'll give you a choice." Scott growled as he glared down at the unknown man. "You can stay and I'll break something else. Or you can run."

The man, who looked to be a werewolf, glanced over at where Stiles, Violet, Malia and Liam were standing.

"I'd run." Stiles advised, glaring daggers at him.

The man growled, clutching his broken arm to his chest as he quickly fled from the scene. Scott and Kira made their way to their friends, the whole group looking back at the other unknown werewolf that had helped out Scott.

Violet didn't know who the boy was, but as he smirked and walked closer to them, she realized that she really wanted to.

"You don't remember me, do you?" He finally spoke, his deep voice bringing a shiver down Violet's spine. All of them raised their eyebrows.

"I guess I look a little different since the fourth grade." He said.

Suddenly, memories flashes in Violet's mind. Images of a smaller version of the guy in front of her, helping the smaller version of her on the playground, carrying her lunch tray when her arm was broken, and other memories that she hadn't even known she remembered. All of them leading to the realization of who the handsome boy in front of her was.

"Theo?" Violet spoke up, earning a charming grin from the said boy and confused looks from her most recently made friends.

Malia leaned in closer to the petite blonde. "You know him?"

"They used to." Theo corrected, still smiling. "Trust me, I never thought I'd see you guys again. Couple of months ago, I heard of an Alpha in Beacon Hills. When I found out his name was Scott McCall, just couldn't believe it." He explained, occasionally making eye contact with Violet. "Not just an Alpha, but a True Alpha."

Scott seemed at a loss for words, as were everyone else. But eventually he spoke up. "What do you want?"

"I came back to Beacon Hills. Back home with my family." Theo grinned.

"Because I want to be a part of your pack."

"We haven't seen this kid in years. You don't find that highly suspicious?" Stiles ranted as they made their way into the high school.

Scott looked at his best friend. "I'm kind of more concerned about the guy who just tried to kill me."

A sudden buzz interrupted their conversation, all of them turning to look at Malia who was staring at her phone intently.

"I'm in!" The werecoyote exclaimed, bring a smile to everyone's face. "I passed." Stiles wasted no time in bringing his girlfriend into his embrace. "I'm officially a senior." Both Kira and Violet laughed, their arms wrapping around Malia happily.

"Thank God." A voice suddenly said. When they looked, a relieved Lydia Martin was approaching them. "Where have you guys been? The whole senior class is here."

Looking at their speechless faces, the strawberry blonde glanced between her friends. "Are we doing this or not?"

All of them shared a look, grins growing on their damp faces as they nodded. Stiles' arm wrapped around Malia's shoulder and Scott's did the same with Kira, Violet beaming as her and Lydia locked arms.

It took them less than two minutes to reach the library, and surprisingly less than five to get through the line of seniors. When it was finally their turn, Stiles was first, using the black marker to quickly write down his initials onto the blank space of the bookshelf.

Next was Lydia, the banshee fancily writing down L.M. Then Kira, who seemed kind of nervous, looked at Lydia and asked, "This isn't vandalism, is it?" Lydia only replied with, "Not technically." And let Kira write down KY before they both stepped back.

Malia was next, hesitating before writing a T next to the M and grinning as she handed the marker to Violet.

Violet hadn't realized how fast time had flown by until this moment. It seemed as if just yesterday she had been roaming the woods with Scott and Stiles the day before sophomore year, looking for the dead body of Laura Hale. And now here she was, the day before Senior year, writing down her initials on a bookshelf with all of her best friends behind her. They had been through so many obstacles in the past couple of years, but this moment made it all seem worth it to Violet. They had made it to this point, whose to say they wouldn't make it through any other obstacles that were to come their way later?

Realizing that she had spaced out, Violet quickly, but neatly, wrote down V.R. on the bookshelf before handing the marker to Scott who sent her a smile. Violet stepped back in between Kira and Lydia, leaning her head on the banshees shoulder as she watched Scott write down SM.

She felt Lydia stiffen a second later and it wasn't until she had looked back at the bookshelf that she understood why. Right next to his initials, Scott had written down AA. The blonde felt a few tears well up in her eyes at the tribute to her fallen best friend.

"She would have been with us." Stiles spoke up quietly, receiving a small, "Yeah." from the true alpha.

Lydia pulled Violet closer to her. "She still is."

As the pack made their way out of the library, Violet had never felt more content. She may not have had her family anymore, but she did have friends—a pack.

And that was more than enough for Violet.

There it is! The prologue is up! We are both extremely excited to begin writing this story, especially Alexis who came up with Violet's character. For those of you who don't know, Violet is an original character created by Alexis from the Klaus Mikaelson book called Ethereal which can be found on Alexis' profile -danvers .

Violet is an amazing character that we cannot wait to bring into the teen wolf universe. You do not have to have read Ethereal to read this book or vice verse, we've only brought over Violet's character, not her whole storyline.

Thank you everyone for reading, and we hope you enjoy the story. Just an FYI, the more comments and votes we get on each chapter the faster the next one will come!

– Alexis and Kirsten.
