i know there's more that's out there | ninjago oc's next gen

At last, I have made this! It took some time, deleting a bunch of paragraphs, and then mulling over my various characters a million times but we are here now and I couldn't be happier!

This features my OC's next generation so if you've read Playing With Fire or Musically Me then I'm using the characters from those books.

Title from the lyrics of What More Is Out There from MLP Equestria Girls Friendship Games.

"Okay! It's Kaida's first day at NCH and I want you both to be welcoming and friendly, so put your nice faces on." Kai rubbed his hands together in the way he does when he's making an announcement.

Usually, the news consisted of things like: "The neighbours think they're superior to us because they got a cat! Let's teach them a lesson by letting Toast loose in their yard!" or "Mom's birthday is today and I totally forgot, anyone interested in sharing their gift?", and even "I clogged the toilet again someone help me." At least today's announcement was something interesting.

The teens immediately pulled on their fakest, cheesiest, smiles. The movie-star grins spreading a little too wide and showing a little too many teeth. Isla snorted as she looked at her children, sipping her coffee with a small smile while Kai grimaced.

"Aidan," Kai paused as he worked out what he was going to say next. "Do you have any other expressions you can use?" Kai asked, his voice getting higher as he talked.

Ash leaned over the table so she could look at her brother's. She laughed saying, "You look like you want to kill someone."

Aidan dropped the smile and scowled at them. He glared at his family with shrew-eyes, the amber colour turning flinty. Ash seemed unbothered and replied with a solid kick in the skin, making her twin groan in pain. Aidan tried to retaliate with an elbow but Ash easily dodged it.

"Hey!" Kai gave them a look. "That's not being friendly, that's being a jerk."

"She started it!"

"Don't be a baby! You were making that stupid face at me!"

"You're face is stupid!"

"What are you talking about? My face is gorgeous!"

"Hey!" Isla cut in before they could continue. "You're twins! Both of your faces are stupid."

Isla let out a loud laugh when the siblings began yelling at her. "It's not my fault!" She raised her hands in surrender. "You get it from your dad."

Kai gaped at her. "That was uncalled for!"

"MOM!"

"Don't worry, I will be the most friendliest of friendly
people. She will not be able to think anything other than 'Wow, Lynn was so friendly'." Lynn said, her face determined. It was weird to see such an intense expression on the face of a girl wearing a sparkly headband and a rainbow temporary tattoo.

"Well, you don't want to scare her, honey." Jay laughed awkwardly. "Lloyd's a little nervous about all this so it's bound to rub off a little on Kaida. Just... be calm. Try not to overwhelm her."

Charlie grinned, stuffing a spoonful of Princess Cupcake cereal in his mouth. "That means you can't jump her in the hallway." Charlie told his sister.

"I'm not going to jump her," Lynn protested. "I was just going to give her a hug!"

"The kind of hug that involves you sneaking around her, wrapping your arms around her neck, and screaming?"

"Yes!"

"Yeah, that feels a little too much like being kidnapped." Charlie waved his spoon at her.

Nya snickered as Lynn pouted. "I'm sure you can hug her all you want once the rush of the first day is over." Nya assured her. Lynn visibly brightened at the words. She was like a lightbulb in that way, she dimmed and lit up depending on her mood.

"Maybe not all you want." Jay said quickly. "A happy medium." Charlie was pretty sure the younger sibling had not heard him as she danced away to get her backpack.

"I hope she doesn't knock someone down again." Nya said in concern. "Remember when she almost gave Cal a concussion?"

Jay sighed. "We can only hope."

"Who is Kaida?" Evie scrunched up her nose. "Ew, did Kai get another child and named it after himself?"

Cole gave her a look as he stuffed her lunch with the pre-made lunches Siena had prepared the night before. "No, she's Lloyd's daughter. Remember?"

"Of course not. We never see her! Do you even know what she looks like?" Evie challenged.

Lilly rolled her eyes as Cole glared at his youngest daughter. "Yes! She has green eyes and..." Cole blanched when nothing came to him. "And..."

Evie began cackling loudly as Cole stumbled for what else to say. Who knew an eleven-year-old could make such an evil sound?

"Oh no, it's never good when Evie is impersonating a witch." Cal said sombrely. His hair was stuck up in multiple directions but he didn't appear to notice as he sat down with fake concern.

"What did you do to your hair?" Evie asked bluntly.

Cal scowled, self-consciously mussing it in attempt to fix it. "I thought it was cool."

"Oh Callie," Lilly snorted. "It looks terrible. You're like a cheap Kai." Evie once again manically laughed as Cal began whining for them to stop. Siena didn't bat an eye at the trio when she entered. Simply strolling around the counter to get her tea.

"When did Evie get so mean?" Cole whispered to her.

Siena shrugged. "I think she gets it from you."

"From me?"

"You pick on Jay all the time!"

"That's different! Jay's...Jay." Cole reasoned intelligently. Siena snorted.

Cole raised an eyebrow at her. "See, I thought it was because she was spending too much time with Mackenzie."

"Oh she is." Siena agreed easily. "It's very concerning how alike they sound."

Cole screwed up his face. "I don't like that."

Siena just laughed.

"Okay! I'm ready to go!" Cal's hair was now flat against his face and still looked absolutely terrible but Cole decided not to comment on it.

"Don't forget your helmet, bud, I don't want to have to take you to the ER because Lynn tackled you again."

The villain laugh sounded as Lilly followed them out the door.

"ZANE? Where's my bag?" Gwen yelled as she scrambled around for her keys. As much as Zane tried to keep their home clean and organized Gwen always managed to lose something in it. Usually, Gwen would sign instead of talking but screaming was more efficient when it came to communicating across the household.

Noelle tapped the counter to get Gwen's attention. "It's on the coat tree."

"Oh." Gwen coughed with an embarrassed look. "Thanks, sweetie." She moved her hand to her chin and then moved it down. The movement was similar to blowing a kiss.

Noelle just rolled her eyes and turned around, a smile twitching at her lips. Gwen took a deep breath, calming herself a little as she messily tied her brown hair back. She walked in front of Noelle so the girl could read her lips. "Noes?" The nickname rolled of her lips easily. Noelle hated it because people thought her mom was calling her 'nose' whenever she talked to her.

Noelle narrowed her eyes but Gwen ignored jer. "Today Kaida is going to your school or something? Either that or she's going to a school which is good I guess because education- anyways I think Lloyd wanted you to look out for her?"

It was always a little hard to follow Gwen when she was talking because she tended to chatter, adding in unnecessary information and rambling for a long time. At least Noelle was well practiced in figuring out what she was saying. Even if she did miss something it didn't make much of a difference.

Noelle nodded. She wasn't sure why she was supposed to look out for Kaida since she was pretty sure the girl didn't know NSL. They didn't know each other well enough for her to pick up much of it. At least Ash would most likely be there so she could translate.

"Great!" Gwen beamed at her daughter and planted a kiss on her forehead. "Now, you should be getting to school and I need to go to work. Say bye to dad and then get to the bus."

"You said you wanted to drive me. The bus is already gone." Noelle raised an eyebrow.

"Crap."

The school was intimidating to say the least. Kaida's former school had been small, predictable, and easy. In contrast, Ninjago City High was full of chaos. Kids were skateboarding down the front steps, teens smoked in corners, while a group of boys wrestled on the front lawn. Kaida made her way around the young men battling for dominance, her mouth falling open as she stared at the huge doors.

Her fingers tightened on her backpack strap as she pushed her way past the floods of students and entered into the building. It was a typical crowded, dirty high school hallway but it was the people that brought it to life. A tall boy sailed by, his colourful coat flying behind him. A girl in a blue dress greeted him with delight, bouncing on her rollerblades confidently as she spun on the sleek floor. A teacher yelled at her for rollerblading in the halls but she ignored them as she hugged her friend. A girl with vibrant dyed red hair and black roots was head locking someone, another young woman egged them on as they fought through the halls.

Even though it was crazy and weird and totally over her head, Kaida smiled. A true, genuine grin that lit up her whole face. Something in her told her that she was meant to be here.

NOTE*****

NSL - ASL but in Ninjago

My last next generation one-shot My Little One features Kaida and Lloyd and that takes place on the same day as Kaida leaves for school.

Lloyd had sent Kaida to a different school than the rest of them because he was concerned for her safety since he was the only one who revealed his identity. (I know in the other books I said that all the ninja revealed their identity but in the rewrites I'm changing that. I know it's confusing, I'm sorry, maybe I'm trying to be like ninjago and making a million plot holes 🤣) Anyways, the school she went to was designed for the students safety since they're in Ninjago City, the most attacked place in Ninjago.

Though this school was safe for her, it also meant she didn't know the other ninja kids as well. When Kaida made it to her sophomore year of high school Lloyd made the decision to send her to Ninjago High School with the rest of the ninja's kids. Lloyd had been putting off training her to officially be apart of the Junior Ninja team but Kai persuaded him that in order to protect her, Kaida needed to be able to protect herself.

(All the kids are in grade 11 except for Lynn and Cal who are in grade 9 and Evie who is in grade 6.)

You can find more on my ninjago OC's in my OC's book. It is on my profile. I will update it depending on how I change the characters or how they develop. I also will add in the rest of the OC's when I have time.

Thanks for reading!
