〔 001 〕 folks, which drafts to publish (?)
I wanted to put this on my message board. Still, I also wanted to give more information than I intended on the message board ━ so obviously, I decided to expose some of the drafts that I am willing to reveal and hopefully publish within the month! So, please let me know which one is interesting to read or to see some content for, as I am in stumps to make a decision ❪ I am incapable of making decisions! ❫, of four drafts!
01. Wilted Flowers ―― This is one of the books I had previously published a few years ago, and now it's been fleshed out to a better plot, and I miss writing for my historical ❪ desperate ❫ pining.
Tom Hughes AS Henry Kingswell
❝ Every night, I glance out the window, hoping that there is a wishing star that could whizz on by and grant me the one wish I always kept wishing for — but I am always disappointed. ❞
INFORMATION ✶ The Alienist / Laszlo Kreizler
inspirations ━ Malevolent ❪ podcast written by Harlan Guthrie ❫, The Alienist ❪ novel written by Caleb Carr ❫, the aspects of historical queer people, the dark history of Victorian era's crime, Jack the Ripper, aspects of Fleabag ❪ directed by Phoebe Waller━Bridge ❫.
✶ Okay, I loved this plot when I previously released it, and I still do love it, even with some of the changes created for it! The main point is that Henry is a librarian/archivist with a history degree. So, he is also technically a classified New York professional Historian who works in a bookstore. He knew Moore and Laszlo from attending their Harvard days, which also extends to knowing Theodore, so there's a bit of history and connection between everyone. However, in the past few years, everyone has been distanced, as one does, with parting ways for their careers, and it's when a murder case brings everyone together again. Henry's position throughout all of this is that since he is a Historian and has connections with books and knowledge, it will become valuable when needed.
✶ Henry, as a character, is very himself; he isn't the type to be outspoken ❪ it should have been evident when he went for a history degree and worked at a bookstore; mans so awkward— ❫, and so being friends with Moore and Kreizler, and eventually making more with the group as they solve this murder, is so important to Henry. However, this is when it gets a bit more personal within Henry's character — he clearly has vulnerable feelings and emotional feelings towards Laszlo that he can't bear to speak about because it was something that wasn't socially and psychologically accepted.
✶ That's where the idea of 'wilted flowers' comes from. Henry associates these flowers and picks them up ❪ as you would for romantic reasons ❫, but he lets them wilt away because he can't give them to Laszlo without fear and guilt. Henry would give an entire garden for Laszlo, but everything is wilted away because he simply cannot. I wanted to play around with that idea, but the possibility of a slow—burn, friends—to—lovers, forbidden love trope works well with this. Henry and Laszlo's relationship is charming, and there is clear pining from Henry's perspective and with Laszlo, but it's more subtle.
✶ Looking at the inspirations, Malevolent is meant to be Arthur's character in the podcast and relates to Henry because they are characters dealing with morality in the Victorian era ❪ directed towards the era's crimes aspects ❫ as they try to solve a crime that directly impacts them. The rest is explained just by comparing it to the show ❪ Fleabag is more about the relationship between Henry and Laszlo ❫.
02. Messages From The Dead ―― People need to start watching this show more. Otherwise, I'm going to start releasing all the plots that I have planned for this show ❪ trust me; I am capable of insanity for my favourite shows ❫
Evan Mock AS Irvin Fitzgerald
❝ You know, I never thought I would be involved in a conspiracy of murder with my childhood best friend and two old men. What the fuck is in the air at Arconia? ❞
INFORMATION ✶ Only Murders in the Building / No Love Interest
inspirations ━ Connor Walsh ❪ How to Get Away with Murder ❫, The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window ❪ directed by Michael Lehmann ❫, the problematic idolisation of true crime podcasts, and aspects of Based on a True Story ❪ directed by Craig Rosenberg ❫.
✶ Guys, please, I love this show, and it's so underrated. Since the third season came out, I knew I had to do something before I exploded because this show had no content! It's such a kooky show that explores the idea of a true crime podcast and how it can change drastically immediately because of that idolisation. Plus, I have wanted to use Evan Mock as a faceclaim for a while, and he is exactly how I imagine Irvin to be.
✶ Irvin is a guy who definitely was there at the wrong place and at the wrong time. He's getting mysterious messages from the supposed dead. On top of that, he's being dragged into this situation with the podcast and stuff because he somehow made friends with people who were also into the podcast he was currently listening to. Honestly, he just needed something to listen to and somehow got into it, even though he doesn't believe half of what the podcast says ― he firmly believes in supporting true crimes made with a purpose and not for entertainment.
✶ I'm also planning on having Irvin as someone who grew up in the Arconia building, he was an introverted kid who liked skateboarding around the fountains ❪ he always ran away when he got in trouble with the security guards ❫, and that is how Irvin really met Mabel then! Of course, growing up, he changed his personality and grew more into his skin, becoming confident. He eventually grew apart from the people who lived in the building ― he moved away to California. Still, his mom died, so that's why he moved back to New York and eventually moved back into the very building that he grew up in, but now as an adult. It takes a while for people to realise that he is Irvin and not some cocky guy.
✶ I really love Irvin, and when I eventually write and reveal his character arcs, it's going to be so satisfying because it's him reconnecting back to his roots and opening up more, becoming vulnerable as people surround him that he considers his family now. Plus, it's the idea of morality as well, wondering why he's getting messages from the deceased and connecting it with the murder at Arconia. It's also the fact that Irvin is friends with two old men, and their conversations are so fucking funny, like you have no idea, especially with Oliver.
03. Cherry Wines and Mistakes ―― ❪ trust me; I am capable of insanity for my favourite shows, especially when it comes for my sad queer characters! ❫
America Ferrera AS Quincy Farrows
❝ I got really drunk— we got really drunk, and the words I've said to you... I— look, I wish I said them to you sober, okay? ❞
Torrey Devitto AS Rosamund "Rosie" Wakees
❝ Oh c'mon, Qui, the number of times you've wished for a healthy relationship, and you finally got granted with Jennifer Jaraeu, and now you're going to pussy out! No! ❞
INFORMATION ✶ Criminal Minds / Jennifer Jareau / Spencer Reid OR Tara Lewis
inspirations ━ The Mentalist ❪ directed by Bruno Heller ❫, Eleanor Shellstrop ❪ The Good Place ❫, the idea of one━night stands and the wishing to continue something afterwards but having that tingling fear that it won't be the same emotions, and aspects of Hozier's sad romanticism songs ❪ specifically Cherry Wine and All Things End ❫.
✶ The edits of JJ have me in a chokehold because oh my god. I haven't had a book where it was solely a love interest for JJ, and now I do!! This is also in an AU world where Will is still included, but rather, a good friend of JJ ❪ and Quincy, because I believe they would be besties ❫.
✶ I love it when I have Hozier as an inspiration because of that man and his sad romanticism songs?? Yeah, Quincy's listening to them in the car with the windows down and sobbing along ❪ she's so real for it though ❫. But yeah, there are many tropes from his songs that I will put into this book, and I cannot wait to write about their relationship. Quincy's just going through her sadness, okay??
✶ What I have in mind for this is that Quincy is a part of the BAU group, possibly specialising in cyber crimes or sex crimes, not sure yet! Regardless, she's a part of the BAU team, while Rosamund is a paramedic who's roommates with Quincy! They are such cute roommates, doing just girl things <3 Eventually, Rosamund might make her way into the BAU, but I imagine her as a paramedic mainly, and it might remain that way.
✶ So yeah, JJ and Quincy has a one━night stand that both of them weren't prepared for, but they kind of just process it slowly. However, Quincy's like "oh shit, I had sex with JJ, my workplace crush?? Oh yeah, I'm fucked." And it's just a whole process of Quincy being like "we could have had so much more :(" ❪ I haven't decided on their ending yet... But I think I do want it to be happy, or like angsty happy?? ❫
03. The Lucky One ―― ❪ finally, I get to write metaphors about cannibalism, and no one can stop me!! ❫
Allegra Acosta / Justina Machado AS Clementine Parker
❝ Were there ever an us, Shauna? Did you imagine what we would be like as much as I did? Or was Jackie the only name on your mind? ❞
Ayo Edbiri / Kylie Bunbury AS Honey Stryker
❝ The water is fucking with my head right now, and I sound so crazy when I say this, but there's something in the lake ❞
Ruby Cruz / Lauren Cohan AS Harper "Felony" Fenlon
❝ Look, I can throw a really good punch, okay? Please, let me punch the fuck out of you! ❞
INFORMATION ✶ Yellowjackets / Shauna Shipman / Natalie Scatorccio / Lottie Matthews
inspirations ━ She Is A Haunting ❪ novel written by Trang Thanh Tran ❫, Jennifer's Body ❪ directed by Karyn Kusama ❫, Rosemary's Baby ❪ novel written by Ira Levin ❫, metaphors of cannibalism and metamorphosis in the perspective such as the art of beauty, aspects of Hannibal ❪ directed by Bryan Fuller ❫, and The Wilds / the aspect of deconstruction of feral girls ❪ directed by Sarah Streicher ❫.
✶ Do you know the amount of power that I would have if I started writing metaphors about cannibalism because of the amount of media that I've consumed ❪ hehe, get it? ❫, like the amount of power? Yeah, no, I would be unstoppable because I've been wanting to write something that was poetic and explored the ideas of cannibalism and how it can be perceived as beauty through the eyes of the beholder. And what way to do it than Yellowjackets?
✶ I spent quite a bit looking for the right faceclaims because I had previously had the characters described in my descriptions before looking for the faceclaims ━ which meant that I was looking for specifics. I am so glad that I ended up with these! These are exactly what I want, and they just fit the original ideas that I had for these characters. Especially when it comes to Harper's look, as she has that tinge of feralness, and I think that Ruby/Lauren can showcase that.
✶ Now, this book does have dark elements, and it's not meant to be in a lighthearted way because all three of them are their morals questioned and how they cope in the middle of the woods, surrounded by people who are also losing their minds. I also want to include some horror element that Taissa had, but with Honey — and I wanted to do something with the lake because why not??
✶ There are different tropes regarding relationships but I will keep it up my sleeves hehe! I like an element of surprise, but all I'll reveal are the love interests. It might change in the final edit of the book, but so far, they are what I have in mind! I also just couldn't bear to break up Taissa and Vanessa?? But who knows, I'll work something out!
✶ Each of their stories and character arcs is essential. I'm excited to write them, knowing that they all go through different stages of their stranded—in—the—woods moments, especially when they are processing their memories. I also know the amount of fun I'm going to have writing their banter because Clementine and Honey having to deal with Harper "Felony" Fenlon? Yeah, absolutely insane.
AND THERE WE HAVE IT POOKIES!! Please let me know which one you want to see, or which one has really cool things etc etc. I thrive on feedback and stuff, and I also want to hear your thoughts about everything. Plus, these releases depend on who is wanting to read which one :))
