Chapter 7
After Hendery closed the door behind him, both him and Jaehyun sat down on his own bed. The latter found the room to be quite cute and was not totally surprised that he found a massive computing set in front of him which also included a gaming keyboard.
"Aaah so you play games too," Jaehyun said softly while looking at his younger friend.
"I do! Lucas-ge, WinWin-ge, YangYang and I love to play League of Legends together," he said before letting a smile curl up on his face and continuing, "Xiaojun made an account to join the fun but he only played once..so there's nothing much when it comes to achievements."
This earned a short laugh from Jaehyun and mentioned that he, Haechan and Johnny loved to the play the same game as well.
"We should play some rounds some time; it would be totally awesome," Hendery replied with a wink. Jaehyun nodded eagerly in response before being asked to give out the notebook again. He looked at Hendery's eyes going from left to right while reading the lyrics attentively and his mouth was a little agape. His big round eyes seemed to glimmer and as Jaehyun was hoping for him to tell him something, Hendery suddenly turned to look at him with the same expression in his eyes.
"Hyung, these are extraordinary!" he exclaimed before leaving another compliment, "Well, I expected nothing less because Dancing in The Rain's lyrics have been the best so far for Resonance in my opinion but these..wow.."
Jaehyun blushed at the sudden comment about the song that Hendery mentioned. The song was close to his heart as well but he wanted to make this song even more special.
"Thank you for saying that Hendery," Jaehyun said with a smile and then asked, "So, how do you think we should continue writing it?"
"First of all, what actually inspired you to write this song?"
This hit Jaehyun like a brick. He knew that they would have to discuss the theme of the song in order to write it but he had forgotten that by doing so, he was going to risk having his secret uncovered. He gulped, trying to think of a way to respond Hendery in a way that the latter would not suspect him.
"Uh..this may sound surprising as the lyrics up till now don't show it but," Jaehyun said while feeling his ears heating up within seconds before he then continued, "Have you ever heard of that legend where soulmates meet each other in their dreams?"
"Oh yeah, I have! It's really sweet actually," Hendery stated along with an innocent smile before pointing out, "Then that will be our starting point for today. We can work on the chorus as what you have here can serve as the first verse and pre-chorus."
They had barely even started but Jaehyun was already admiring how Hendery's mind worked while coming up with lyrics. Hendery asked him to pretend as if he was actually one of those people and describe how he would feel after realising that everything had been a dream, kind of.
Jaehyun almost chuckled. If only Hendery knew that he did not have to pretend.
As time went by and as a result of their impeccable teamwork, the two managed to come up with a very strong yet smooth chorus;
I guess everything was a dream
When I made eye contact with you
I was so happy, I guess I can't help it
My heart seems to be empty
I want to make you stay,
Wanna keep falling asleep like this,
You know, like it's in dreams
While he was very satisfied with what he had written thanks to Hendery's help, Jaehyun was also wearing a bright smile. However, a thought occurred to him. Should he shoot his shot? He knew exactly what to expect but it would not hurt if he tried to seek the answer to the recurring question he always had echoing in his mind.
"Do you believe in the legend?"
Hendery looked as if he was taken aback by the sudden question. Jaehyun thought that he was making a fool of himself and was already thinking about burying his face within the bedsheets of the bed he was sitting on. He could not believe he actually asked the question when he knew that Hendery would most likely laugh at him. Before trying to speak up again and sugarcoat his question with other random remarks, Hendery responded,
"I do."
It was now Jaehyun's turn to be surprised. Is he serious? he thought to himself while looking at his friend.
"Really? You do?"
"Yeah..I mean it's a legend, right? There has to be some truth in it, at least, but I believe that every inch of it is true."
Hendery stopped for a moment, as if gathering his thoughts about how to exactly place the words he was about to say.
"You know, now that I think about it, it's actually difficult," he started while furrowing his eyebrows and then continued, "They can't give each other their personal details like names or where they live if they've never met each other in real life...it must be so hard until they find these details out by chance or even meet up by chance."
He was so touched by Hendery's comment that he could feel a pang in his heart; it hit home. His mind was suddenly so clouded with thoughts that the pencil he was holding fell from his hand; its sound breaking the silence that suddenly loomed on the two. As he leaned down to retrieve it, he could feel a hot tear running down his left soft cheek, the one which was not facing his friend. As soon as he sat up again, he turned to Hendery again in order to reply to him as he had left him speechless.
"Wow..I never really thought about it that way," lied Jaehyun but thought it was believable enough for Hendery not to suspect anything. The latter just nodded slowly, almost as if he was suddenly shy but then, he asked a question.
"But imagine if they knew each other already; that would be totally awesome...but would they immediately date? Wow...now that would be a weird situation now that I think about it."
"We've gone from being lyricists to theorists," replied Jaehyun with a soft laugh and then said, "But I guess if they're young, they would let some time pass until they're mature enough for a romantic relationship. They would feel secure knowing that who they'll end up with is already a friend of theirs or something."
"But imagine if they hated each other's guts in waking life," said Hendery while chuckling.
"Now THAT would be awkward," replied Jaehyun while reciprocating the chuckle. As he was about to continue talking, he suddenly received a text message from Haechan.

Jaehyun smiled at his phone and as he faced Hendery again, he told the latter what happened. As Jaehyun was about to stand up to go back to his own dorm, Hendery suddenly spoke up.
'Hyung, can I ask you a question?"
"Sure," said Jaehyun without thinking twice.
"You're one of those who communicate with their soulmate in their dreams, aren't you?"
