Chapter 6
Pit pat, pit pat, pit pat...
Jaehyun loved hearing the rain droplets hitting his quite large umbrella. Each footstep of his caused a little splash since all of Seoul was washed out with rain, and it seemed that it was going to continue to be for some more time.
It was taking Jaehyun quite a walk to arrive to the other dorm. He had a fellow NCT member in mind but he was not from NCT 127. Of course, Mark and Taeyong were talented lyricists but Jaehyun wanted to try writing with someone he was not as close with yet. Furthermore, he loved this member's writing - it was just his type. His thoughts then started to wonder somewhere else; he wondered if she would like this song if she were to ever hear it. She was probably not going to come across it as soon as it released.
'It is too good to be true anyways, we're not going to meet so soon,' thought Jaehyun before sighing softly while looking at the towering building in front of him.
He had finally arrived and as soon as he entered, he closed his umbrella and put it in a plastic bag in order not to leave any drops on the floor. Jaehyun did not visit this dorm an awful lot but he was always happy when he did so. They treated him as if he were part of their unit and always made him feel as if he were at home.
It did not take him long for him to arrive at the dorm's door. He knocked with his particular rhythm, signalling the guys inside that it was him who had arrived. Just as fast as a bolt of lightning, the door was opened and Jaehyun found a smiling Dejun in front of him.
"Jaehyun hyung! It's so good to have you here," the younger male said excitedly with widening eyes and his signature smile plastered on his small face. His dragon-like eyes were sparkling and Jaehyun could not help but smile at his friend and give him a pat on his shoulder.
"Hyung!" a voice was heard from another room. Jaehyun immediately recognised who he was and before he could reply to him, Sicheng shot out of his room in a flash and engulfed him into a massive hug.
"You're never this excited when you get to see us!" whined Dejun jokingly.
"And you never hug us like that!" continued Ten while walking up to the three of them.
"But guys, I see you every second of my day...I eventually get tired of you," Sicheng said mischievously. Jaehyun could not hold himself from laughing at what was happening in front of him, but he did not expect this to become more dramatic.
"What did you just say?!" bellowed Yukhei while cracking up as he walked out of his room.
"Oh no...look at what you've started Dejun," Ten said with a snicker.
"Me?! You're blaming this on me?! You were the one who continued the joke!"
"You get tired of us?!" continued Yukhei dramatically before opening up even more, "Bro, I'm your roommate! How could you even think of saying that?!"
"This is about to turn into a telenovela, I'm so sorry," Ten told Jaehyun with a chuckle. The latter was not disappointed at all. Instead, he was eager to see how all of this was going to unfold.
"Yes, I do! And to put the cherry on top, I get tired of you the most! I even see you before closing my eyes to sleep and after I open my eyes when I wake up," Sicheng teased the younger male.
"Wow..after all this time, I thought that you saw me as your dearest brother," said Yukhei while fake sniffling and before continuing, "My heart is shattered into a million pieces."
Jaehyun burst out laughing along with Ten, Dejun, Sicheng and Yukhei himself. He was used to the many antics that he experienced in his own dorm but they were no match to the comedy that the WayV members served. He, indeed, concluded that spending a whole day with all of them simultaneously would have been the most chaotic day he would have ever experienced.
"Are you always like this?" he asked with a smile. His heart warmed at the sight of Sicheng being mischievous and goofy with Yukhei, Dejun and Ten and could not hold himself from reminiscing the times of when his fellow 97-line dear best friend was his fellow member back in NCT 127.
"Always," replied Ten with a fond smile before explaining further on, "Imagine having Haechan's energy and mischief but multiply it by seven."
This gained a shocked expression from Jaehyun himself. Ten laughed at him and said, "Yep, you haven't seen the worst yet. You should see Hendery; that guy is crazy and loud, I'm telling you. Don't be fooled by his apparent timidness when he's at work."
"Really?! I thought he was the quietest along with Sicheng. I have been meaning to talk to him actually..is he here?"
"He is! He's in our ro--"
Before Ten could finish his own sentence, YangYang and Hendery bolted out of the latter's room, with Hendery chasing the younger member to get his bag of chips back. When he took the message that YangYang was not going to give him the bag that he so greatly craved, Hendery decided to just simply give up and sulkily go back to his room, until he finally realised that Jaehyun was there.
"Oh! Hi hyung!" he greeted Jaehyun shyly before continuing with a flustered look on his face, "I'm so sorry; I didn't see you at first and you must have been startled by our shouting...it was my last bag and I was so excited to eat it but that boy never listens to me."
Jaehyun reassured him that it was okay and there was nothing for him to worry about. Hendery in return thanked him and gave him the bright smile that he usually wore on his face. It was so contagious that Jaehyun automatically smiled too, as well as Ten and Dejun who were beside him. Hendery then asked Jaehyun what brought him to the WayV dorm, as he thought to himself that it was surprising since the latter did not visit the dorm often. Jaehyun only walked up to him and took out his small notebook, and then giving it to Hendery. While still surprised with the sudden gesture, Hendery continued to look at Jaehyun, as if there was something strange in this exchange.
"You're trusting me with your diary?!" he said surprised. Jaehyun chuckled and encouraged him to look into the pages. As he opened the book, he found the lyrics that Jaehyun had written since then, including Dancing in the Rain, and as he turned another page to find the new lyrics. He lifted his head to face Jaehyun again and excitedly exclaimed, "Are you writing another song?!"
Dancing in the Rain was one of his favourite songs from all the Resonance songs that they had prepared until then. While he still happily held the booklet, then realisation hit him.
"But..why are you showing me this?"
"I was hoping to talk to you about this song since I want it to be as perfect as it could be and I'm stuck at how to form certain parts of the song...you are a really talented lyricist; maybe you want to be.."
Hendery's eyes shone and a smile was gradually growing on his face as he said, "Are you telling me to be..?"
"Do you want to be the co-lyricist of this song? Only if you feel comfortable though," said Jaehyun with a hopeful tone.
"Of course! This is really an honour, thank you so much Jaehyun-hyung!," Hendery said cheerfully before continuing, "Follow me to my room! We have a song that needs to be continued." He grabbed Jaehyun's hand and made their way to Hendery and Ten's shared room.
"Oh, Ten-ge, don't come in unless needed please; this needs full concentration," he said with a smile.
"Noted."
