Game Night
Stiles' POV
"So close! I was this close to kissing her! You came at the wrong time Scott! Couldn't you like wait a bit longer?!"
"Hey, I tried. I mean, we made out! For a long time! It was pretty awesome! We could've done it longer but she said she had to go back."
"Scott. You do realize that she took your first kiss away, right? You seem so chill."
"I know! I thought it was gonna be awkward! But I think it went out amazingly."
"You know what, Lydia would've been my first kiss. But it didn't happen because of somebody." I said grumpily.
"Don't worry! I invited them to go watch the lacrosse game next Friday and the party at my house. You'll get your chance."
-
Friday came extraordinarily fast. Tonight was a BIG game. Not only was it because this game was on Christmas Day, but because this was the final game. As usual, Coach Bobby gave us the 'Independence Speech.' We didn't know why, but we all just rolled with it.
The game was nearly done and everything was intense. It was a tie game, 27-27. Bodies were shoving one another. Sticks flying everywhere in the air. The crown getting reckless; cheering and screaming their lungs out. Everything seemed cold. Cold enough to see our own breaths. But it didn't bother us though, since we were too heated to notice how cold it was.
The last 2 minutes was even more chaotic. The ball was thrown everywhere, making me get lost in where I was at. Scott saw that I was open and passed it to me.
"I got the ball!" I said in excitement because that's the first time I've ever caught a ball during a game.
"Run! Run!" everyone was screaming. I looked at the other direction and saw all the opponents come after me.
"Shit. I got the ball." I said drenched in fear.
I began to run as fast as I can, but stopped as I came to the goal. Everything was somehow in slow motion.
"Shoot it!" Lydia screaming in overwhelming joy and frustration.
I tightened my grip, fixed my position, aimed it at the goal, and threw it.
"I scored a goal? I scored a goal!" I was stunned that I actually made it into the goal. It wasn't blocked, I didn't miss it, but I actually made it in the goal! I yelled in enthusiasm, lifting my arms from the success I've done.
We won the game by one point. As everyone was cheering, Malia, my ex-girlfriend, got enough courage to run up and kiss me. I gently pushed her off because we broke up and everything would just be complicated.
"Why did you do that?" I said furiously.
"It was a congratulation kiss. Look Stiles, I know you wanted your first kiss to be special... so here it is."
She stole my first kiss away. I wanted it to be with someone who would love me back. Malia, she used me, and I fell right into her trap. Which is why we broke up. She was right though. I did want my first kiss to be special, and this day was special... but it was with the wrong person. I wanted it to be with Lydia. I just stared at Malia with a grimace face and left.
When Scott and I came to Kira and Allison, we asked if they were going to the after party at Scott's house to celebrate the victory. I then asked where Lydia was and they replied with their fingers pointed at the parking lot. They said that she didn't feel good so she went in their car.
I ran everywhere around the parking lot looking for her. I decided to give up looking for her, until I saw from the corner of my eye, a car with the lights left on. As I came closer to the car, I saw Lydia crying. I told her to put down her window and then finally, she did.
"Hey Lydia. Lydia please don't cry." I said sencerely.
"I'm not crying."
"Lydia. You're obviously lying. Even though you look beautiful when your crying, I still don't want to see you in pain."
"I can't stop Stiles, okay. I'm just in deep pain right now. I just can't."
"Why are you crying?"
She hesitated but then said, "Everything is going to change if I tell you. Cause if I tell you one thing... I'm gonna have to tell you everything."
"Okay. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, but please promise me you're going to be at the after party."
"Stiles, I've made too much promises this year, and I've only accomplished a few of them. I just really think -"
"Lydia. Promise me. Tonight was the first night I ever scored a goal during a game. Please celebrate this victory with me."
She left out a sigh, closed her eyes, and said, "I'm going to regret this, but fine. I promise."
