~turning the corner~
As Amilia made her way to meet Gabriel, her heart raced with a mix of anticipation and anxiety. She wanted answers about her past, yet the thought of facing him filled her with unease. She hadn't planned on apologizing, not after everything that took place between them.
The doctors had advised her to be happy and avoid stress, and with the help of medication, her nightmares had ceased, leaving her with only darkness until she woke. The sedatives kept her safe, but they also left her feeling disconnected from reality at times.
As she stepped into his place, a flood of memories washed over her, reminding her of the last time she was here, of how things had turned out of control. Doubt crept in, making her second-guess her decision to seek answers, and she found herself unsure about her decision to confront him.
AMILIA:
I dragged Noah along, threatening him to stay besides me at any cost. Even then, I couldn't shake the feeling of distrust towards him. Despite his promise to stick by my side, I just couldn't trust him. This man's a snitch and un predictable.
nerves gnawed at my insides, and the possibility of facing him filled me with worry. But what heightened my anxiety even more was Noah's presence beside me. His non stop chatter about his day at college and other things is making me so annoyed that I want to punch his face to make him shut up. I mean, okay - - he is just trying to help me i get it! But it is no help. I am really
anxious. Each word he utters only serves to intensify my unease, leaving me feeling even more on edge than before.
As we were heading upstairs, I couldn't help but constantly check to ensure he was still there, As I turned to look at him he gave me a smile and thumbs up.
He's smile and gestures are doing little to ease my nervousness. I stopped at the top of the stairs, waiting for him to take the lead. He walked through the hallway, me following behind.
As we reached the end, Noah stopped in front of a room on the left corner and I looked at him, my nerves causing me to tremble.
(Why am I so nervous?)
All the while Noah did nothing but laugh at my situation, he said standing infront of the closed door.
"It's just Gabriel Am, he's not gonna eat you."
I rolled my eyes and replied,
"Exactly, Noah. It's just your Gabby."
He shook his head and laughed throwing his head back, at my use of the nickname and I just shrugged. He opened the door for me, and I took in a deep breath before getting in.
As I entered the room, my eyes landed on Jared, Gabriel's bodyguard, I internally rolled my eyes - ofcourse he had to be sticking by his side. Jarred sitting on a chair, looked at me and I mumbled a little "Hi" and in response he JUST nodded at me. Huh! Such a coldie.
I turned and carefully looked at the room. Everything looks really neat and clean. His desk is placed against one wall near the window, with just a lamp and some papers on it. There's a comfy chair next to it, which is dragged near the bed and Jarred is sitting on it. The bed is on the opposite side of the room, against another wall, with the headboard facing the door. It's centered in the space to create a balanced look. The bed is made nicely with white sheets and a few pillows.
A small bookshelf is tucked into a corner, not far from the bed, with some books and personal items.
The walls are adorned with pictures, one above the desk and another above the bed, adding a personal touch to the room.
Overall, Gabriel's room feels really peaceful and organized, with everything put away nicely.
While I was looking at the room, I could sense the piercing gaze of the person on the bed making me more nervous then I was, I shrugged it and decided to just act normal. When I slowly turned towards him, he was engaged in a conversation with Jarred. I notice an arm sling wrapped around his left arm. I was shocked and looked at Noah for an explanation.
He sighed and said in a low voice.
"We didn't tell you because we didn't want to make you worried. He just got a minor injury, that's why he couldn't visit and you had to come see him yourself."
I nodded feeling unsure. Gabriel was engaged in a conversation with Jarred So, I took the chance to check him out.
lol.... that sounds soo inappropriate.
I just looked at his appearance.
Laid out on his bed, Gabriel's posture was relaxed as he reclines against the soft pillows. Despite the arm sling enveloping his left shoulder, his expression remained composed, an evidence of his toughness. His dark hair wildly spread across his forehead, giving him a carefree and untamed appearance and framing his face with an air of casual elegance.
His eyes, the hypnotic grey black eyes reflect a mixture of consideration appearing focused yet distant, as if his mind is elsewhere. His posture at ease as he faces Jarred. Dressed in a T- shirt and a blanket draped over his legs.
As he's talking his body language suggests a moment of reprieve from the daily activities. His probably not attending the college either. Despite the minor inconvenience of the injury, Gabriel appears at peace, his presence radiating a sense of quiet strength and self-assurance.
Looking at him, I am over- whelmed I don't know why?
It's these emotions that swarm up in my chest and are always ready to explode when Gabriel is near. It's non of my business but still, I find myself worried about his well-being. He doesn't deserve my sympathy.
I felt like a deer caught in headlights when Jarred cleared his throat. My heart skipped a beat as a wave of embarrassment washed over me. Had I been staring at Gabriel too long? I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks as I quickly averted my gaze, hoping to avoid any further review. The last thing I wanted was for Jarred to think I was checking out his friend like some silly schoolgirl.
He excused himself, saying.
"I sent Arik and Nathan to buy groceries, I guess they haven't returned yet. I'll go check."
As soon as Jarred left, Noh noticing the tension peeked out of the door looking into the hallway and seeing him act like that, I knew he was about to dump me. He is a literal chameleon, he can dump u and runaway even if u are in a death bed, if he finds something else more beneficial for himself.
He faces the outsdie and shouts a "coming" and then turns to me,
You rogue!
I shake my head in disapproval but he ignores me and says.
"I think Ark and Nat are here, they probably need help. Be back in a minute." He said with a big grin spread across his stupid face.
And with that he ran off leaving me and this Grizzly bear alone.
I don't know what to do as I'm rooted in the same place ever since. I muster up some courage and look up to find him busy typing away on his phone. Ughh!
Noticing my gaze he turns his head and I dodge his eyes, suddenly looking at the ground seems more interesting. Sensing my distress the really humble and gentleman "Gabby" decides to pay me some attention.
I managed to keep it together, until he says.
"come here,"
I am taken aback, my senses heightened with surprise. My heart begins to race loudly in my chest, the sound echoing in the ears.
"Me?"
I tentatively point towards myself, seeking confirmation.
"Yes you"
he says matter of factly as there's no one else in the room except us.
My pulse quickens further, a mixture of disbelief and anxiousness coursing through my veins. With hesitant steps, I move closer, looking up I see that I only managed a few steps ahead.
Ughh!! Why do i get paralysed around this man, like chill Am He's not gonna eat u.....
I chant Noah's words in my head again and again.
The sound of his chuckle fills the otherwise quite room making my cheeks flush with a sudden rush of embarrassment, heat radiating as I'm unable to bear the intensity of his gaze.
May the holy Earth swallow me whole!!
His gentle command to sit breaks the tension, and I rush towards the chair where Jarred sat a while ago.
After an hour:
As I sat beside the Grizzly's bed, I sighed for the empth time now.
I couldn't shake the feeling of being invisible. For the past hour, he is engrossed in his phone, not paying attention to the fifty-four kg mass spread out on the chair besides him.
lol Am!! Who talks like that about themselves? Very bad!
I mean I am fit, I like my body as it is. People might call me short as I've 5'1 height with fifty four kg weight. Girls here is US ars tall and defined not gonna lie, And compared to that I might be abit short and I might also have a tiny viny bit of tummy, but I care less.
I love myself, and that's what matters.
I was brought back to reality by Noah's voice as he barged in while informing us that the dinner is ready and we should head downstairs.
As soon as Noah announced that dinner was ready, Gabriel bolted from the room without so much as a glance in my direction,
a pang of disappointment spread in my chest as I realized he didn't even bother to see if I was following.
Noah, noticing Gabriel's hurried departure, couldn't help but chuckle softly, leaning towards me with a knowing look.
"Looks like the meeting didn't go well,"
he remarked quietly, his tone laced with amusement.
I rolled my eyes in response, I am mad at Noah for leaving me with the devil at the first place.
I shrugged off Noah's comment, determined not to let Gabriel's behavior get under my skin.
He is running away from me, from the truth but I will find the answers no matter what.
Descending the stairs, Noah led me to the left side into a hallway. But there are just empty rooms deprived of any furniture, like this part hadn't been used since ages. I haven't been on this part of the main floor before.
Noah noticing my curious gaze said.
"We recently cleaned up a room down here, you know"
he remarked, a playful glint in his eyes.
"We were just staying on the upper floor, but with the family members increasing..."
He trailed off, a mischievous smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
I smiled looking down feeling happy as they were doing things for me. I felt really lucky to have them all.
Soon we entered a small room where a simple yet inviting dining table was set. The room itself was modest, lacking in luxurious furnishings but emitting a sense of warmth and cleanliness. There was a small place for cooking and washing dishes kinda like a kitchen u can say. The aroma of home-cooked food filled the air, mingling with the soft chatter of conversation as we took seats around the table.
We found out that Jarred and Nathan cooked and honesty, it was really good. I heard Gabriel can cook really good meals too but due to his injury I couldn't have the honor right now.
External P.O.V:
As they settled in for dinner, Amilia found herself unable to enjoy, her attention focused instead on the hearty meal laid out before her. The atmosphere was relaxed, with Nathan, Noah, and Arik engaged in easy banter, sharing stories and jokes as they passed around plates of food. She didn't pay attention to anything.
Gabriel and Jarred were engaged in a very serious conversation, Againn!!
Despite the cheerful mood of the group, Amilia remained somewhat withdrawn, her silence speaking volumes as she picked at her food, lost in her own thoughts. She couldn't bring herself to engage in conversation, not with Gabriel sitting across from her, his presence a constant reminder of the tension between them. She felt disappointed at him for pushing her away whenever she thought of getting close to him.
Amilia was strolling along the backside of the theatre, the place she saw from the balcony, the last time she was here.
Drawn by the peaceful ambiance of the moonlit night, She was at a quite spot near a babbling stream, its gentle flow illuminated by the soft glow of the moon overhead. Lost in her thoughts, she stood by the water's edge, mesmerized by the enchanting reflection of the moon dancing on its surface. This place felt magical, really opposite to the busy world out there. It felt un real.
Suddenly, a faint sound broke through the stillness, causing Amilia to startle. She turned to the side to find Gabriel standing nearby, his presence unexpected yet strangely comforting. He faced the water, his figure outlined by the moonlight, and Amilia took in his appearance.
He was wearing a hoodie that draped loosely over his frame, the left arm lifted up by the arm lift.
The hood cast a shadow over his features, adding an air of mystery to his appearance. His hair were falling on his forehead making him effortlessly handsome. His posture relaxed yet guarded, with his hands tucked casually into the pockets of his hoodie.
Despite the casual attire, there was an aura of strength and determination around him, as if he was ready to face whatever challenges came his way. There was a thoughtful expression on his face, illuminated by the soft glow of the moon.
For a moment, they stood in silence, the only sound the gentle murmur of the stream. Then, Gabriel cleared his throat, breaking the silence. Amilia turned her face towards the water, feeling embarrassed yet again as he looked at her side and said.
"I'm sorry for always acting like a jerk when you're near"
he admitted, his tone tinged with vulnerability.
"I just don't know how to act in front of u."
She got confused by his words, but shrugged off, as he's always talking like that around her.
She remained silent for a moment, then said.
"I don't forgive you, maybe I never will be able to forgive you for the things you put me through,"
she began, her tone firm yet vulnerable.
"But you said sorry, and that was..... un expected. I can try to get back to normal if you answer my questions."
Gabriel let out a heavy sigh, his gaze drifting towards the water as he wrestled with his own inner chaos.
"I will tell you, but not right now,"
he finally responded, his voice strained.
"You see, your condition is not good."
"I'm fine, I just want answers,"
Amilia insisted, her resolve unwavering despite the uncertainty looming over her.
Gabriel shook his head, a pained expression crossing his features.
"You will get all the answers,"
he assured her, his voice softening.
"But u know that we both are not in a good condition right now, I'm tired - tired of running. I want us to be normal."
He stopped and then continued, in a defeated tone.
"Can we pretend like there is no worry in the world for a while? Act like we're normal, act like we are all we need."
Amilia felt sorry for Gabriel. She hadn't thought about his feelings much before, only focusing on herself. Now she realized he must have been going through a lot, and she felt bad for him.
She nodded slowly whispering.
"Okay."
And in that moment, as they stood together beneath the moonlit sky, the burdens of the past momentarily forgotten,a fragile sense of understanding blossomed between them, bridging the gap that had long existed between their hearts.
