Chapter 5

"Do you have any siblings?" Ginny asked when we made it outside. She caught up with me and stuffed her hands into her pockets. "Besides Luna Cass, if you consider her a sister." She shrugged her shoulder.

"You can just call her Cass," I said, shrugging my shoulders. It felt weird hearing Cass being called Luna when all I had heard people call her was plain Cass or Alpha Beta. "She'll laugh at you if you use Luna or Princess."

"That is rude," Seraphina said, and I held back an eye roll. She pursed her lips and narrowed her eyes, and I could tell that she was disgusted by my cousin for her "behavior," even though she didn't know why. "Why would she do that?"

"Because she doesn't like her titles used," I replied. "If you want to call her something, then you can call her Alpha Beta, but that is the only thing she'll take besides plain Cass."

"But, she is a princess," Ginny said, "and a Luna. Why does she not like those titles?"

I shrugged again and grimaced. "I wish I knew," I replied. "However, I don't. I just know what others had called her and had her personally tell them to call her just plain Cass or Alpha Beta."

Ginny nodded, and she had a thoughtful expression on her face while she thought of something else. "So, so you have any siblings?" she asked again. She cleared her throat, and a blush appeared on her cheeks. "If I may ask, of course."

I nodded, not fazed with her asking me some questions about myself. "I have a sister that is two years younger than me," I replied. I stuffed my hands into my pockets and bit back a sad sigh. My heart ached when I thought about her because she wasn't here with me, but I knew that she had made the right choice for herself to go with the Guardsmen when she turned fifteen.

I had no idea why she chose to go with them so early, but I was happy that she did because she had worked so hard to become one with the help of Cass.

"What's her name?" Ginny asked. "And where she?" She looked around as if she would come from somewhere because she had asked about her.

"Her name is Clarity, but we call her Clara," I replied. I shrugged and grimaced. "As for where she is, I have no idea. She is part of the Guardsmen, so she travels a lot and doesn't really have a way of communicating with us." 'Except for Cass,' I added, silently, 'but she won't tell me where they are located.'

Ginny nodded. "What rank is she?" she asked. "Or are you allowed to tell me?"

"She is part of the Gamma Delta Psi," I replied. I shrugged. "Gamma Delta for short."

"And the whole thing is..?" She raised an eyebrow and waited for me to tell her before she cleared her throat, and her cheeks turned as red as her hair. "Sorry, sorry," she said. "I didn't mean to intrude; I was just curious."

I glanced at my mate to see that she was scowling at her Beta, and I had a feeling that she didn't want Ginny to keep asking all of these questions. "No, don't be sorry," I said, shaking my head while I turned my attention back to the redhead. "I don't mind telling you this." I shrugged and grimaced. "You'll learn about it anyway."

"Why?" Ginny asked. She cocked her head and studied me with bright blue eyes, and I could tell that she loved learning about anything and everything, something that she and Cass had in common.

"Because Cass is still a huge part of the Guardsmen, even though she is over here and not with them," I replied.

Ginny nodded, and I had a feeling that she understood what I meant. "Does that mean there will be random people coming over?" she asked.

"Not random," someone said from behind us. "Just... strange."

We turned around to see two of the fifteen members of the Alpha Beta behind us. One of them being the strangest of all, and she was scowling at the male with a dragon tattoo on his head.

Ginny gasped out loud and took a step back. Fear filled her eyes, and I was sure it was because Sergio looked more intimidating in her eyes than ours.

Seraphina growled and narrowed her eyes while she took a threatening step toward the male. Her whole body was tense, and I could tell that she did not like her Beta being scared of Sergio.

Sergio gasped and ducked behind May, who was shorter than him. He grabbed her arms when she almost left him under Seraphina's gaze and held her there. "No," he said. "You are staying right there and protecting me from an angry Alpha."

"But you called me strange," May said. She huffed and rolled her eyes while she scowled. "How is it that you are an Alpha Beta again?" she asked. "You are a big chicken."

"One, you are strange, May," he replied. "You're the one with hot pink hair. Two, I deal with weapons and not people for a reason."

"Angry or protective people, Sergio," Jayden said, amused, smiling at the older male. "You don't deal with angry or protective people."

"Same difference," Sergio replied. He shrugged and looked nonchalant while he kept his gaze on the bristling female. "I just send them to Cass and let her deal with them."

"And hide behind her," May said. She huffed and rolled her eyes, and I had a feeling that she didn't like being used as a shield. "Can you let me go, you big baby?"

"No," he replied. "Not until I am certain that the Alpha will not attack me."

Seraphina sighed and relaxed when Ginny snorted. She looked at her Beta before she looked at Sergio, still cowering behind the pink-haired female. "I won't attack you," she said. "You just started my Beta and made me become protective of her."

Sergio shrugged his shoulder and stood his full 6'7 form. "I get that a lot," he said. He moved from behind May and stood beside her. "That's why I cower behind the females so that they don't think I am a threat."

"Even though you kind of are," Jayden pointed, and Sergio rolled his eyes. "I mean, you are an Alpha Beta."

"Uh, so I am," May said. She folded her arms across her chest and scowled. An amused smile flickered onto her lips, and she raised an eyebrow at my Beta. "What am I? Chopped liver?"

"Yes," Jayden replied, and I snorted. He smiled innocently, and May couldn't help but grin back at him. "The only thing that is threatening about you is your driving."

May scoffed and rolled her eyes, the smile still dancing on her lips. "I am not that bad of a driver," she said. "Why do people keep saying that I am?"

"Because you are," Sergio, Jayden, and I said in unison.

"Cass is even afraid of driving with you and shows it," I pointed out, and she shrugged. "And nothing scares her enough for her to show it."

May shrugged again and looked nonchalantly at us. "Eh," she replied. "It's what it is. At least I know that I can drive."
