Chapter 15

Charlie cleared his throat and stood taller, looking just as annoyed as us. He looked at me before he looked at Cass and raised an eyebrow in question. "Are you sure?" he asked, and Cass tore her gaze from the way that Seraphina had left and looked at him with gold eyes filled with anger and annoyance.

Are you sure that you don't want to fight first..?

She closed her eyes and took a deep, shuddering breath before she released it with a small whoosh. "I am," she said and nodded while she opened her eyes to reveal that they had turned gray but were still traced with gold. "I am able to control myself, and I want you to go ahead and get settled in as well as talk to TJ about whatever it was that you wanted to talk to him about. I will be fine."

For now...

Charlie pressed his lips into a thin line and slowly nodded. He looked at her and then looked at Xavier, raising an eyebrow in question.

Xavier bit back a small smirk and slowly nodded, pulling Cass closer to him. "I will make sure to keep the storm calm until it is time for her to let it out in a fight with you." He pressed a small kiss to the side of her head and said something to her that we couldn't hear, earning a small growl from the female that I called my cousin.

"Maybe we should fight then," she said with a small growl in her voice, earning a small chuckle from him. She bit back a small growl and closed her eyes while she tucked her body closer to his, and their whole body seemed to mold into one. "How would you like that, Xavier?" she asked and opened her eyes while she raised an eyebrow in question.

"We can," he said with a small hum in his voice while he slowly nodded. "However, are you going to go full out this time or not?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

"Not," was her response while she shook her head, earning a small snort from Charlie. "I can't."

"Correction, you can but you don't want to," Charlie said with a shake of his head, and she shot him an annoyed look. He smiled and bowed his head ever so slightly before he looked at Xavier. "If you decide to do that, then that will be amazing," he said with a small hum in his voice. "I don't need my ass handed to me that hard." He flashes my cousin a small wink, earning a small growl from her.

Xavier cleared his throat to hide a chuckle and nodded. "Food first and then we will see what we will do after," he said before he looked at me and frowned, growing concerned. "How are you feeling about everything, T?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

I shrugged and grimaced, my face turning darker. "I'll be fine," I said, even though I was still a little peeved but not as peeved as my cousin was.

"If you need something then let me know," he said, "or your cousin. We'll help in any way that we can."

"And we'll leave dealing with Vengeance with me," she grumbled, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath before he released it with a small whoosh. "He is seriously going to have his ass handed to him in one way or another."

"Unless he decides that enough is enough and basically ends up killing you," Charlie said with a small smirk on his face, and my cousin shrugged and looked nonchalant that Shilan would kill her.

"Ingford won't let him," she said with a shake of her head. "If he does kill me, then he kills his Champion, which is something that they do not want to do."

Even though there had been many times she had already cheated death...

I pressed my lips into a thin line, and worry filled my body. I didn't say a word while I looked between them, not knowing what to say or what to do.

Cass looked at me and bit back a small smile while she tucked her head closer to her chest. "Go ahead and talk to Charlie about whatever it is that he wants to talk to you about, T. After that, you will go eat and then do whatever you want to do. If you need anything or need to fight again to be able to control the Vengeance inside of your body, then contact me. Is that understood?" She raised an eyebrow in question while she stared at me.

I nodded and bit back a small sob of relief, grateful that she would do that for me. "Ok, thanks, Cass."

She smiled and tucked her head closer to her chest. "Always," she said before she cleared her throat and shifted on her feet. "I'll always do that for you. You have my word. Now, excuse me and Xavier while we take our leave."

And with that and without another word, she and Xavier excused themselves with Charlie and me watching after them until they were out of sight.

Finally, when they were out of sight, Charlie cleared his throat and shifted on his feet, and I turned to look at him with a blank look on my face. He offered me a tight smile and tucked his head closer to his chest. "And if Cass isn't available then I will be there to help you control the wrath of Vengeance that fills your veins. Ok?" He raised an eyebrow in question while he studied me.

I breathed a small sigh of relief and slowly nodded while the weight of the world seemed to lift off my shoulders because that had been one of my fears, especially when Cass was out of town doing Cass stuff. "Ok," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "Thanks, Charlie. I appreciate it."

Charlie smiled and tucked his head closer to his chest. "Of course, T," he said and nodded. He cleared his throat and shifted on his feet while he looked the way that they had gone before he looked at me. "Now, come, let's go to my room and then talk. After that, we will get you fed and then you can do whatever. As Cass said, you still need to take care of yourself, no matter how hard it's going to get because it is going to get harder before it gets better."

I stayed silent and slowly nodded, biting the inside of my lip. I gestured for him to start going to his room and I would follow him, and he nodded and did what I silently suggested by walking to his room with me following him.

Thank Goddess to have a family like them who would be there no matter what happened even when the family wasn't even related to me by blood...
