28. Sacrifice & Regrets

Every blessing is a curse.

Every soul seemed to suffer.

The miracle born in the heavenly realm lay lifeless on the ground, right beside the love of his life. It was the dropping tears in the eyes of the too-shocked-to-react celestials that screams their pain out loud.

"What did you just do?" Yoongi was the first to break his trance of disbelief. "Bloody hell Jin, what the fuck did you just do?" He spared ahead.

"Stop right there Yoongi." Archangel Jin turned his face toward the demon guard. Wing furled majestically behind him. "Not one step advance."

"I can't believe you killed them." Suddenly, the crack in his voice defeated his anger as he stumbled on his own feet, knees hitting the hard ground while his tears met the gravity of the earth. Yoongi's body trembled as the coldness of the night air brushed his lean physique.

"Y-you killed my s-son? My Jungkook?"

He might be Namjoon now, but he once was the fallen angel of the heavenly realm who is also the father of the now-dead Jungkook.

Archangel Jin's eyelids twitched as he held his glowing blade firmly in his hand while his wings held his frame bright and majestic despite the tremble of his heart internally. "I did what I had to."

"NO YOU DIDN'T YOU FUCKING ASS. YOU COULD HAVE SAVED THEM BOTH. YOU OF ALL PEOPLE COULD HAVE SAVED THEM BOTH." Yoongi's anger broke past his sorrow as he charged forward without second thought catching Archangel Jin slightly off guard.

With the incoming force too strong with hate and anger, Angel Jin stumbled a few feet back losing the grip of his blade as he was knocked backward with his back hitting the ground.

"Argh, I WILL KILL YOU!"

"Yoongi NO!" Angel Mikhail was quick to act as he zoomed to the demon guard and held his swinging arm backward before it could strike the Highest Archangel of heaven. "You know you can never hurt the highest archangel, YOU WILL BURN TO ASH."

"LET ME GO! I need to fucking kill that asshole, he killed Jungkook and Tae!" Yoongi was bewildered. He could not for the hell of him accept the sight of two lifeless bodies on the ground.

"Yoongi, I had to perform this sacrifice. Taehyung would never have made it out with a powerful angel-demon holding his soul hostile. It was impossible." Archangel Jin spoke quietly. Did he loved the solution he had to pull off? No, he didn't. But, he had to do it regardless.

As Yoongi struggled against the grip of Angel Mikhail, he finally seemed to acknowledge the words of Archangel Jin. His anger began to subside, replaced by a profound sense of loss and grief. Tears streamed down Yoongi's face as he looked at the lifeless bodies of Jungkook and Taehyung. He knew, deep down, that Archangel Jin had made an agonizing decision, a decision born out of love and duty. He may not have agreed with it, but he understood the impossible choice that had to be made.

"Yoongi, I know this is hard to accept," Archangel Jin said with a heavy heart, slowly standing up, "but their sacrifice was the only way to protect the realms and prevent an even greater disaster. Taehyung's powerful essence combined with Jungkook's unique heritage was a potential catastrophe we couldn't risk."
Yoongi's anger had transformed into overwhelming sorrow. He let out a mournful cry, his entire body trembling with grief. Angel Mikhail released his grip, allowing him to approach the lifeless bodies. He fell to his knees beside them, tears mixing with the dew on the ground. Archangel Jin remained a few feet away, his blade still glowing, his wings held high, and his heart heavy with the burden of the choices he had made.
As the celestial beings and demons gathered around, their tears mixed with those of Yoongi. The heavenly and demonic realms had clashed for millennia, but in that moment, they were united by a common loss. It was a somber reminder that, in the grand scheme of things, love and sacrifice could transcend even the deepest of divisions.
In the distance, a soft, mournful melody began to play. It was the haunting sound of a celestial harp, its ethereal notes drifting on the cool night air. The music carried the weight of their grief, a requiem for the fallen.
The realms would never be the same, and the pain would linger for generations to come. But in that shared moment of sorrow, perhaps there was a glimmer of hope that one day, a new beginning could emerge from the ashes of this tragedy. And who knows, we might stand another chance for this forbidden love between Jungkook and Taehyung to revive once again.
