Chapter 24

Last Chapter

"(Y/N)!" You snapped your head around at the sound of your name. "(Y/N)!" A boy came running up, coming to a halt in front of you and leaning against his knees to catch his breath. Only when he brought his head up to face you did you recognize him.
"Hey, you're--"
"Yeah, we met in detention," He smiled and stood up to his full height, which was a good few inches taller than you.
"I never got your name," you mumbled. He smirked and let loose a loud chuckle.
"Yes, I realize that, and sorry, I know it was rude of me." But the boy didn't say anything more.
"Are... you not going to tell me?" His green eyes glinted as he smiled again and shook his head slightly.
"I'll tell you on one condition."
"And what is that?" You raised an eyebrow, but couldn't help let slip a small chuckle.
"If you agree to come over sometime, just as friends of course." You shook your head, still smiling.
"Fine, deal." Another smirk.
"Great, I'll tell you when you come over. Does tomorrow work for you?"

Green Eye's Point Of View

I had to resist the urge to let loose a loud "YES" as she walked away, which would probably freak her out.
We had a date tomorrow!
I was confident she knew it was a date right...? She wouldn't have looked so excited otherwise.
I couldn't stop smiling once the rest of the day

2nd Point Of View

Aunt Cass would be so proud of you now that you were finally on your way to making some new friends. You'd already been invited over to someone's house!

~~~
You shrugged your coat on and slung your scarf around your neck as you stumbled out the door with Hiro and Cass. As soon as you'd gotten home from school that day, Cass had come running up to you, a smile splayed across her face. She'd told you you were going to visit your mother in jail (it'd been a thing you two had been planning for a little while, but it still came as a surprise).
Now, you were packing into the car, on your way to the San Fransokyo police station.
The car ride was quiet, you and Hiro both choosing to stare silently out the windows instead of talk to each other -- which was fine by you -- you already had a lot of things to mull over anyhow. Though the whole day, Hiro had been acting strange around you; he'd become clumsy and awkward even being in the same room with you, and he'd blushed every time you'd passed each other in the halls at school.
You turned to him, opened your mouth to speak, sat there for a moment with your mouth parted and no words coming out, before closing it again and resuming your earlier position, facing the window. What were you supposed to say? "Hey Hiro, I just wanted to know why you've been acting like a complete, utter idiot all day!"Nope.
Cass pulled into the parking lot a few minutes later, and you slipped out, following her up the spruce walkway and in through the big glass double doors. Cass kept walking over to the front desk, and you and Hiro went over to a few sad-looking plastic chairs that had been set up to resemble the waiting room they had no space for. Her and the receptionist talked for a couple minutes before Cass nodded at you and made her way to her own spindly chair across from you.
"She says it'll be a few minutes, but she'll let you know when you can go in." Cass told you quietly It was just the kind of environment where one would feel the need to not talk above a whisper.
"Okay, thanks Cass," you said, scooting back in your chair and leaning your head against the wall. You heard her say something about running a few errands while she was out and that she'd be back in a little while, and then she was gone.
You and Hiro sat unmoving, for a good ten minutes, before you felt a slight tug on your sleeve. You looked over to see Hiro, turned in his seat to face you, eyes wide and scared.
"(Y/N)..." he started, dropping his gaze to the floor. You raised an eyebrow and shot him a small, reassuring smile.
"Yes, Hiro?"
"(Y/N) (Y/l)?" The woman at the front desk called out. You stood up to go, but Hiro grabbed your hand.
"Wait!" You yanked your wrist out of his grasp and spun around to face him.
"Spit it out Hiro," you grumbled, with a nervous glance to the front. "I have to go."
"I wanted to tell you..." he trailed off again, then shook his head. "I never said it probably, so I wanted to tell you.... I love you (Y/N)."
You must have turned five different shades of red as you started incredulously at him. What were you supposed to say. How did you form words again?
Without any consideration or memory of deciding to do so, you grabbed Hiro by the collar of his sweatshirt, and kissed him -- hard. You definitely loved him, and hoped that this would be enough to communicate that.
You both broke apart a few seconds later, smiling like idiots.
"I love you too Hiro Hamada."
"(Y/N) (Y/l)!" The woman called again. You gave Hiro one last toothy grin, and turned to follow the receptionist to the back, feeling lighter on your feet than you had in a long time.
