Chapter 23

Asia's funeral was a few weeks later, and your mother's court case a few days after that. Thankfully, aunt Cass had agreed to help you with the planning, so it was a huge weight off your shoulders. But once it was all over, you were just glad to go home and relax.
The judge had declared your Mother guilty for murder and attempted murder. She would get the help she needed and be put away for the rest of her life.
At the moment, you and Hiro were cuddling on the couch, watching an episode of Doctor Who (because I hope they still make it in the future XD).  His arm was resting across your shoulders and your head was on his chest, and you sat in silence. For the most part, Hiro had given you all the space you needed after everything that had happened, but he was also there for you whenever you needed.
"So... Matt Smith plays Doctor Who in this one, right?" You let out a frustrated sigh.
"No, that's David Tennant, the tenth doctor," you huffed. "And his name's THE DOCTOR, not Doctor Who." Hiro chuckled a little and patted your head.
        "Right, okay."
A moment of silence enveloped you as you both turned your focus back to the TV.
        "(Y/N)?"
        "Hm?"
"Do you think... you'll ever go visit your mom?" You swung your head around to look him seriously in the eye.
"I don't now Hiro.... She did try to kill me." Hiro nodded impatiently.
"Yeah, but she was ill, you know that. She might not have even known what she was doing."
"You know she'll never be sane again right?"
        "Yeah..."
"The doctors can relieve some of the pain, but she'll never come back. I doubt she'll even remember me."
"Hey, it's okay (Y/N)," Hiro whispered, pulling you into his chest. "I'm sorry I brought it up."
"It's fine," you muttered, returning the hug greatfully. "I just... I don't have any family left. Asia was that last..." You swallowed the lump in your throat and hugged Hiro tighter.
"You have me ya know." He said eventually.
        "What?"
"Me and Cass. We're your family too. I would've thought you knew that by now."
"Oh... well," you stuttered, taken aback. Hiro smiled widely.
"I just wanted you to know, don't take it so seriously," he chuckled.
        More silence.
        "Hiro?"
        "Yeah."
"The gang wanted to know if they could come hang out here later... I'm sure they've been worried about us."
"Yeah, that'd be fun. I don't think we're doing anything later."
"Cool." You were going to look back at the TV again, but Hiro grasped your shoulder, and pulled you back around to face him for the third time.
"(Y/N).... I just want to thank you." He said quietly, not meeting your eyes.
"For what?" You offered him a feeble smile and he returned it.
"For... coping so well I guess." Your brows wrinkled in confusion.
"What... do you mean?" Hiro let go of your shoulder and sighed, leaning back against the armrest on the couch.
"When Tadashi... died, I didn't do well, ya know? I didn't eat, or sleep, or talk to anyone." You nodded slowly to show him you were following what he was saying. "But, you've been really great about everything."
        "Thanks... I guess."
"Just know we're always here for you (Y/N), me and all your friends. We really do care about you." You smiled wider and leaned closer to your boyfriend.
"Thanks Hiro." You closed the gap between you, and let Hiro pull you into his lap.

Bit of a cheesy chapter, I know. But in my opinion, after everything that happened, the story needed some fluff!
PS. I've started working on my movie sequel, which will be an x reader, though I don't quite know when it will be published, it shouldn't be too long after I finish this one ^_^
