Chapter 12

You trudged down the hall, dragging your feet as you went. Eventually, you came to a door, and though it was as ordinary as every other door in the building, it felt ten times bigger than it really was. In fact, it loomed over you, so all you wanted to do was curl up and disappear. You crumpled the small piece of paper in your hand with a quiet crunch.
Yes, you had been assigned detention.
Your friends had all teased you when you made such a big deal out of it (especially GoGo, who had been in detention more times than should could count). Though, as a straight A student, who'd never even walked past the detention room once in your life, it was a HUGE deal.
"You can do this," you muttered to yourself, grasping the brass doorknob firmly. You pulled it open with a creak, and stepped in silently.
It looked like a normal classroom, only with less than half the average class filling its seats. You balled your hand into a fist, willing yourself to suck it up, and walked over to the desk at the front of the room, your chest puffed out and your head held high. The teacher -- a large woman with thin hair that sat on her head like a limp mom -- peered out from behind the book she was reading to send you a dirty look. You slapped your slip down in front of her, and she nodded, gesturing for you to sit down. You turned to survey the room before you, mainly looking for an open seat away from everyone else.
A group of girls who all looked a few years older than you (and you thought they must have been held back a few years, since they looked to be in their early twenties) sat off to one side, glaring around and talking in hushed voices. Another girl was sitting by herself, hidden behind a large book, and a few boys were laughing with each other, folding paper airplanes and throwing them high into the air.
"Hey, over her!" Someone hissed behind you. With a start, you swung your head around -- and saw a boy, around your age, waving furiously at you. You walked hesitantly over to him, set your backpack down, and plopped down in the desk beside him. "You remember me?" He grinned, and you started at him, confused. You opened your mouth to admit you had absolutely no idea who he was, and you closed it again, noticing how his bright green eyes danced with amusement.
"You're that boy from earlier!" You exclaimed, beaming. His smiled grew even wider.
"Yeah! I'm really sorry about that by the way! I was a in a bit of a hurry!" You flushed, and shook your head wildly.
"You don't need to apologize for anything! I wasn't watching where I was going." He only flashed you another smile.
"So, what are you in for?" You chuckled lightly at his question.
        "I got in a fight."
"Really? You... Don't really seem like the kind of girl -- no offense!" He added quickly, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.
"Oh, none taken! And yeah, it was with this girl named Clare..."
"Clare?" He spoke quietly, tearing his gaze from you, and instead staring down at his hands.
        "Do you know her?"
"Yeah, kinda. We... Dated for a while really."
"Oh." He looked back to you again.
"She didn't cause too much trouble did she?"
"Well... I kind of punched her in the face." You looked at the ground, painfully aware of how red your face was. To your surprise, he burst out laughing. He had a cute laugh, that reminded you a lot of Hiro's, and you smiled to yourself.
"Seriously? I'll bet she freaked!" You managed a small smile yourself, and nodded.
"Yeah, she was pretty mad. It was incredibly satisfying though, I have to admit!" The boy only broke out into another burst of laughter.
"By the way... what's your name?" He asked once he'd caught his breath.
"Oh, it's (Y/N)," you stuttered, caught a little of guard.
"(Y/N)..." he muttered under his breath. Then, he turned to flash another dazzling smile at you. "My name's-"
"Shut up you two, or I'll put you at separate ends of the classroom!" The teacher barked. You sniggered, clamping a hand over your mouth.
A few more hours passed, and you two chatted the rest of the time -- and there you were thinking it was going to be boring. Soon, the lunch bell ran, and everyone stood up.
"Same time tomorrow?" He called as you both went your separate ways. You smiled and nodded, giving a little wave in goodbye and setting off towards the lunch room.
"(Y/N)!" You saw your friends jumping up and down as you walked into the cafeteria, trying desperately to get your attention. You blushed deeply and walked quickly over to them.
"(Y/N), have you talked to Hiro yet?" Honey asked, clinging to your arm. You frowned.
"No, not yet. I haven't seen him since the fight..." As soon as you'd finished the sentence, you caught sight of Hiro as he headed towards you. "Oh!" She gasped, stepping back. "Here he comes!" You gulped and walked forward to meet him.
        "H-hey Hiro," you stuttered.

Once again, I was going to make this longer but... Ug... Homework -_- Anyways, I'll update again soon!
