Chapter 2: A Gossip, Misinterpret

School ended that day, and I felt that a part of that void, has been filled again. It was now noon, and the sun was close to setting. The once clear sky, of light blue-filled with shaped clouds. The blue disappeared into a canvas of orange-purple. Soon, the orange will change to purple and the purple will change to black. And that's when the stars will appear, but for now. I enjoyed this time, as the cherry blossoms whisked away through the breeze. Than a vibration moved in my skirt pocket. I rustled through my skirt, and grabbed my IPhone, I changed the purple-black checkered to a pink cat. I entered my password, it seemed I got a text from... "It's from Wataru." I clicked the message, and I read it.

I smiled at the phone. And nodded, "Promise." And I started to run toward Shigure's house. "I'll do my best, to ask Kyo out." Minutes later, Wataru got my text.

"Oh, it's a text from Aki." Wataru flipped open his blue-phone. Clicking the message, he flopped onto his mattress. His hair was drenched, water drops plopping off his hair. A white-fluffy towel, wrapped around his neck.

He smiled. "I'll do my best, to ask Yumi out."

I was in the living room, my feet in the kotatsu. Even though it's spring, and not the season for Kotatsu, I could just fall asleep I one. I was watching TV, and I came a cross a drama. It seems that the main character is in love with the owner. But the owner can never get over his diseased ex-girlfriend. Who was forced to be engaged with this horrible man, that mistreated her. And she took her life out of grieve and sadness. But, while the main is in love with the owner, 4 other guys seem to have fallen for her. One is her childhood friend, another is her cousin, and the other two are... I started to get engrossed into the drama. I grabbed an mini-orange from the middle of the table, and peeled it open. It's sweet. I heard rumbling from the steps, and someone appeared next to it. "Hello, Aki-san." It was Yuki. "Hello Yuki, what's up?" He was still wearing his school uniform, and it was already 6:00. He sighed, and plopped himself next to me. I placed an orange in front of him. He looked utterly exhausted. "Are you alright Yuki?" He didn't say anything. "Tohru is making dinner right now, Kyo is training outside, while Shigure is in his office." "Is that so..." He talked. "You're really exhausted huh? And you're still in your uniform." "Just a council meeting running late, and I was too tired to change out of the uniform." He looks pale. "I don't want you to stress on me Yuki." I turned my attention back to the TV, and silence engulfed us. Than, I felt pressure on my shoulder, and something tickling my neck and cheek.

"Yuki?" He had leaned his head on me. I blushed a bit. I could hear his soft breathing, and his tiny mumbles. When he would move, his silver hair would play with my cheek. It tickled, but I didn't mind it too much. "He must of fallen asleep..." I took a glance down at him. This is the most I have seen Yuki calm, a lot must of happen. Today huh? Today I was able to admit my feelings, and meet someone who understood me. We're both idiots in this love again, but now... my thoughts stopped, when Yuki moved again. So cute! I thought. I took a better look at him, he is beautiful. It's hard to believe he's a guy. Crap, I just made fun of manliness. Though he may look it, they should see how he fights. He can be Kyo in a heart beat, especially when tired. I smiled a bit, that was good old days. I wonder if I'll get those days back. I took one more glance at Yuki. Well, this is fine for now. And Yuki stayed like that, till it was time for dinner.

~~~~~~
The next morning, I entered the classroom as usual. Shinko, Tohru, Arisu and Hanajima left early this morning to the canteen. Kyo went to argue with the teacher about something. "Hey everyone." Everyone completely stopped what they were doing. And stared at me strangely. Mai and Yuki came up behind me. "What's wrong Aki?" Mai asked. "I don't know, everyone just stared starring at me." "Starring at you?" Yuki questioned. Me and Mai ignored them, and walked toward are desk. We started talking about some random things, before someone entered the classroom with a loud burst. It was Shinko, soon after Tohru, Arisu and Hanajima appeared behind her. "Aki. Come here." She motioned me to come toward her. What's up with everyone? Me and Mai followed, and Shinko closed the door. "What's up guys?" "Did you hear the news Aki?" "News?" "Than, you don't know?" Tohru asked me. I looked at them strangely. "Mai, do you know?" She shook her head no. "This!" Shinko popped up her phone, and my eyes must of fallen out of my eye-holes. "What is this?!" I shouted.
It was a picture of me and Wataru together, and under it was caption. "New love birds between and senior and a second-year. "Who's that guy Aki?" Arisu asked. "He's a guy I met yesterday. Me and Wataru? But that's not- AKI!" I turned my head. And I saw a gasping Wataru. "Wataru!" "Well speak of the devil." Hanajima said. "Wataru, do you know about this?" He nodded no. "Not at all, I just found out this morning." "Than your saying this..." Mai suddenly held my shoulder. "Mai?"
"Aki... someone just created a scandalous, fake gossip about you and Wataru-kun."
Tribute Song: Gossip -Hatsune Miku Append
So the reason why everyone has been staring at us, was because someone made it look like me and Wataru were dating. And when I finally thought I could like someone without bottling it up. That person is the worst! I was walking to the canteen, but what made me happy and sad, was Kyo was walking with me. "Hey Kyo." "Yeah, what is it?" He's avoiding my gaze. "You don't believe in those rumors do you?" "What are you stupid?!" I stared at him startled. "If you don't believe that rumor is a lie yourself, do you expect me to believe you." He stared straight at me. With his orange-red eyes, my heart skipped a beat. Sometimes I wonder why I fell for you Kyo, and now I know. I smiled brightly at him. "Thanks Carrot-top." That he hissed like a cat at him. For a second I saw cat ears. "What you say?!" "Carrot-top~" I mocked him. Than I started running away from him. "Stop calling me that!" And now he started chasing me.
I reached the canteen, and the place was less crowded. Actually there was barely a line. "Wow, everything simmered down compared to yesterday." I scanned the food. "Which one are you getting Kyo?" He looked around too. And the thing he choose made me laugh. "Fish-flavored crackers? I know you might be the cat, but really?" He blushed out of embarrassment. "Just let me choose what I like!" "Okay~" Than I choose my food. We went up to the counter, and look who it was operating the cash register. "Mina-san~" I smiled. "Hello Aki, oh! and Kyo is here too." Kyo just nodded. "Yeah, were just picking up lunch for ourselves. Everyone is eating at different times because of schedule." 'Well alright. Let me just ring this up for you." She started entering the price of each food. "So Aki, I heard about the rumor." I choked on air for a second. "You did!" "Yes. So what is it? A rumor, gossip, the truth?" I sweat dropped. "Just a gossip, me and Wataru are just friends. Plus, we just met two days ago." "You just met the guy?" Kyo asked. I nodded. "Yeah." "That would be 500 yen." I took out the money. "Thanks Mina." We waved goodbye to her. "Hey, let's stop at the vending machine to get a drink." Kyo mentioned.
So it was pretty awkward now. I wanted to say something, but couldn't think of anything. "So how did you two meet?" Oh, he talked. "Who? Wataru?" "No duh!" He hissed. "You don't have to be rude. Anyway, he's a childhood friend of a friend of mine. I just happen to meet him by chance." "Is that so..." And it just got awkward once again. I thought of something by chance just now. "So how's your martial arts? Strong enough to beat a bear?" He chuckled. "A bear huh?" I think things will be going smoothly.
~~~~~~

Physical education came, and that's when Yumi appeared. "Aki, is it true?" I gulped. "True about what Yumi?" She than shot a glare at me. That's strange, I thought. "Do you like Wataru?" She suddenly closed the distance between us, and she puffed her chest out toward me. Her arms crossed across her chest, and her cheeks puffed him. "I like Wataru as a friend. And is this about the rumor?" She didn't say anything, but slowly nodded. Oh boy. "About that rumor- Aki~" I turned my head to see a blonde. "Momiji!" Out of know where, he pounced at me. "AKI~" "GYAH!" And I fell to the floor, Momiji hugging my lower torso. "Momiji, what are you doing?" I gasped. "I never see you at all Aki. And I really want to hang out." He whined. "Aki, who's that?" I looked up at Yumi. "This is Momiji Sohma... he's related to Kyo Sohma." Suddenly Yumi's face turned red. "Your related to Kyo?!" Suddenly she started to cram Momiji with tons of question;... about Kyo. "What's his favorite color? What's his type? Does he like girls with long or short hair? Does he like chocolate?" "Yumi stop. Your scarring Momiji." She suddenly stopped. And noticed Momiji crying in the corner. "Oops. I went over board." "You think?"

Minutes Later...

I sweat dropped. I could feel my already tight hold of the waist, tightened even more. Yumi really went overboard, because now, Momiji won't let go of me. "Momiji, it's fine." He shook his head. "This is really ridiculous." I sighed again. "Momiji, don't you have a class starting soon?" We're on the third floor, for third years. And he should be in the second years floor. He nodded. "But I wanted to stay with Aki longer!" He complained. I put my hands to my hips, and felt something in my skirt pocket. I dug into them, and I saw wrapped candies. Candies? I'll give it a shot! "Momiji, if you stop, I'll give you some of my special candy." He suddenly stopped. "Here." I showed him the candy. The candy that was colored wrapped, to match the flavor. So the grap was a clear, yet shiny wrap around it. If there was butter scotch, it would of been a yellow, brown. Not too gold. He took it. "I'll talk to you late Aki." He waved goodbye to me, with a smile on his face. Looks like it worked. I looked up toward Yumi, my expression changed. She was looking down at the floor, with a sad, distance look. "Aki, answer me seriously. Do you like Wataru?" I flinched. "No, I don't. I like him as a friend. It's just some misunderstanding." She looked unconvinced. "Than, why is it, your suddenly all buddy-buddy? When I saw his phone, out of know where he had your number. And... I looked at you guy's text. What were they about?" I could only stare at her. She even looked at me and Wataru's private conversation. But before I could speak up, a new voice submerged. "Yumi? You looked through me stuff? What happened to the Yumi I knew as a child?" We all turned toward the sound. He stood there, with a disapproving face. Half of his hair tied up with dark-pink pins, and his usual charming smile vanished. His dark-chocolate eyes held no more color to them. Yumi and Wataru could only stare at each other, before Yumi ran away. I watched from a distance, as she slowly disappeared around the corner. I turned toward Wataru. "Are you okay?" I asked. He looked up, and a bitter smile formed. "Yeah... I just didn't think Yumi stuck to this level." I could only look at him with a sad expression. Suddenly, I had an epiphany. "Ne, Wataru..." He looked up at me. I could see he stare at me curiosity, as I held a small smile on my face. "Let's go out for ice cream."

The sky became an orange-mirage, and the sound of a close-by water fountain was heard. Little sound of small children, but more like, little sounds of people. The park was vacant, and it was late afternoon. A food stall was at the side of the park, a sign written in many chalk colors was posted. I came up to the stall, Wataru following. I stared up to glance at many words and numbers, on the menu. "I would like a vanilla ice cream please." He turned his attention toward Wataru. He got the same flavor as me. We waited for the waffle-cone goodness to enter our hands. And me and Wataru just stood their, in a comfortable silence. We received our frozen treat, and started to walk. "I didn't think you would go for vanilla Wataru. I always thought you were a... hm... a chocolate or mint type." He chuckled. "Is that so? I could say the same to you. I thought you were more of a strawberry or cookie type." I could only make fun of him. "Is that so?"

We walked and talked, probably passing the same fountain 4x. But I guess time consumed us, but I didn't come here to have fun. I can here to get answers, answer that could solve both Yumi and Wataru's problem. And maybe even mine. "Wataru, what do you think of Yumi now?" He stopped from taking another lick from his ice cream. And his eyes saddened. "Well, I guess you can say I'm pretty disappointed in her. This isn't the Yumi I know and fell for." I could only shrug at this answer. "Maybe that's your problem Wataru." He snapped his attention right at me. "Maybe the Yumi you loved then, is different from the Yumi now." Silence one again engulfed us. The only thing I could hear was the park's fountain and the kids playing about. I knew my words had stricken him. "Wataru, it's up to you now. Do you love the Yumi now? or Do you love the Yumi before?" As soon as I said that, I knew that it would change for the both of them. And I left Wataru, and headed home. Leaving him time to think.

 ~~~~~~
My hand gripped the handle, and the sound of the door clattered. It slid open for me, letting the warm, and cozy air escape into the widow night. I took of my shoes and slipped it for slippers, and sighed. Closing and locking the door behind. I entered the house, and food was left on the table. Well, it was late. From the park to Shigure's is a bit far, and me and Wataru talked for a long time. I sniffed the air, I love the smell of Tohru's cooking. I settled my stuff upstairs, and changed into something comfortable. I scurried down stairs, entering the living room. "Hey Tohru, how long till dinner?" I heard a muffle, before her head peaked out of the kitchen door way. "A couple more minutes." "Alright." I decided to read a manga I got from Mai, and settled on the floor. But my mind couldn't concentrate on anything, except the problem I got into. Why is it always me?! It's like I'm one of those typical heroines in a shoujo manga, JUST LIKE THE ONE I'M READING NOW! UGH! I tossed the manga on the table. (AKI! TREAT MY MANGA NICE!) I stared up at the ceiling, "What a terrible day."
~~~~~~

I walked alone toward my morning classes, everyone else either had something, or was dragged into something. "Maybe what I said was too rude for Wataru." I can't help but sigh. I kept my head down, only to bump into a body. I looked up, and fell backwards from the person in front of me. "Holy Crap! Wataru!!" He just stared at me, before bursting out laughing. What? After a while, he stopped. And looked down at me again. Could he be nice enough to help me. And why! Does he just stare. He continued to look, his face red. I looked down at myself, realizing my legs were wide open. I blush at embarrassment, and shut my legs. "DON'T LOOK! YOU IDIOT!" He blushed more, before apologizing. "Just help me up." He grabbed my arm, pulling me up. "Sorry about that." "It's fine." It's not fine. "I wanted to talk to you." Wataru said. "What is it?" "About you advice yesterday." Was that even advice. "I think your righ- hey you two. Being love birds so early in the morning." What?! "What?!" We both shouted. Starring at the culprit, it was none other than-
