River Banks
Mark The Seiren's POV (Au where sirens are guys that eat girls after luring them in with their songs)
I sat along the edge of the sea, watching the waves crash upon the shore. I loved watching the waves, it was so relaxing. I loved the sound most of all there was just something relaxing about it. I smiled as I layed down on the warm rock that had been sitting in the sun all day. I sighed and closed my eyes taking in the sounds of the sea. The sound of the seagulls, the crashing of the waves, the warmth of the sun on my back, the faint sounds of children's laughter. Sure I may be a seiren but I really wasn't in the mood to eat anyone right now. I opened my eyes to see some kids swimming over while their parents weren't paying attention. They tried to get up on the rock I was sitting on, but they were having trouble. I reached my hand out to help them. They seemed a little scared but one little girl grabbed my hand. I pulled them up to the rock one by one. There were 5 kids, 4 girls and 1 boy. The boy seemed so scared.
"P-please d-don't eat us mister...." The boy said, his voice quivering. I smiled at them.
"Now why on earth would I eat kids like you?"
"Cause you're a seiren. We thought you were a merman" I chuckled.
"You haven't done anything bad to me, so why should I eat you. Learn about someone before you judge them." I saw them relax and smile.
"Now who wants to play!?" I asked, they all nodded. I dived into the water motioning them to follow, they all jumped in one by one. I looked over to see the worried look of their parents, but then as they watched they became calmer as well. We played around until sunset, we splashed each other, played Marco Polo, I even let them ride on my back on the way to shore. Soon they went back home, I swam back to my little cave near the rock where they found me. I shared my cave with my mate Sean who was sleeping in the back corner of the cave. I smiled and swam over to him, as I did his sleepy arms wrapped themselves around me. I turned around to face him and returned the hug. He cuddled into my chest, smiling.
"Didja have fun today?" He asked, not moving to look up at me.
"Yes, I played with some kids that swam over to me."
"That sounds nice, maybe one day I'll be able to go with you." I would've brought him today but his fin was damaged while he was trying to get away from an angry farmer who had seen him out. Sean wasn't doing any harm, just looking at the stars. He attacked him and cut his fin with a rake.
"I could carry you out tomorrow." I waited for his response, but got none. I looked down to find him asleep with his head resting on my chest. I kissed his head before going to sleep myself.
~Dream~
Sean and I were playing on the shore. Not sirens, but human. We kicked up the sand and jumped around enjoying the warm weather. We ran over to the pier and dived into the water. We changed back into sirens. Some mermaids swam by, we waved to them. Then we spent the day swimming around and playing in the water. I stopped playing for a moment just to watch him swim around for a bit. His smile was bright, just like his eyes, he swam around happily. He grabbed my hand and swam up to the surface. We got on top of a rock and started singing softly to one another. We pressed our foreheads together, eyes closed, singing sweet words to each other.
BANG!
I stopped singing and fell over, grabbing my chest. I saw Sean reach out to me before everything went black, I heard sobbing. It was Sean. I left him alone and unprotected... I felt awful.
~Dream over~
I woke up to see sunlight pouring through the cave, Sean curled up on my side. My heart was racing, my breath short and quick. Sean must have been awake because he started to sing one of my favorite songs.
"If you'll be my star, I'll be your sky. You can hide underneath me and come out at night. When I turn jet black and you show off your light. I live to let you shine. I live to let you shine, but you can skyrocket away from here and never come back if you find another galaxy. Far from here, with more room to fly. Just leave me your stardust to remember you by"
The kind and familiar words of the song helped calm me, I don't really handle nightmares that well. Sean was almost always there to help me though. We've known eachother since we were teenagers. I sighed after he finished and kissed his head.
"Thanks Sean, I really needed that." I didn't know what time it wa but then I heard some kids laughing and I looked at Sean, looking for approval. He nodded, I smiled and swam outside. The kids from yesterday were there, playing in the water with their parents or older siblings. I climbed back on my rock and waved, trying to see if I got their attention. An older girl with long brown hair waved at me before swimming over. She climbed up onto the rock with ease.
"Hey are you the seiren that was playing with my little brother yesterday?" Her voice sounded intimidating. I nodded.
"But I swear I didn't hurt any of them." She looked at me with a cold, dead stare. As if she could kill me just by doing that. I backed up a bit.
"I don't care, you're just a serien. A cold blooded, heartless creature."
"I don't care about that... You could hurt people..."
"But I haven't and I don't plan too."
"So what, do you think I care. No. Now, how about you surrender, and no body gets hurt."
"Ma'am wait please, I don't mean any harm."
"I don't care." I heard a click and I got mortified, Please why can't she just go away?
"Why won't you let me go...?"
"YOU ARE SO IMPOSSIBLE!!" I didn't really get what just happened but she jumped off the rock and swam away. I didn't really feel safe so I swam back to the cave to be with Sean, who had fallen back too sleep. I scooped him up and and placed him in my lap, he rested his head on my chest.
Maybe we'll move to the river banks...
