Ghosts Come Back (special pt 2)

Dark’s POV

I hated this I didn’t have to go back there, but I did. I just had to visit her grave. She may have not been my girlfriend but she was sure a good friend. I had always brought flowers with me when I went but the local florist had shut down due to lack of bees here in hell. We had to get special flowers that could grow without natural sunlight, little water, and could survive the heat. I had hear of a few people that had grown them successfully so I went on the hunt to find at least one. I wandered and wandered nearing the graveyard with every step. I needed to find some flowers, I just needed to find one flower. If I could find one I could be more at ease when I went to her grave. I soon I found it, a garden of hellflowers. Small blue and black flowers I snuck up to grab them I grabbed a few and tucked them under my arm. I was about to run off and make my way to the graveyard when I heard a door slam open.

“HEY!! WHAT ARE YA DOING WITH MY FLOWERS?!?!!” I spinned my head around to see an angry demon standing on the doorstep of the house where I got the flowers. He was about my height, he had dark green hair, I didn't have much time to take in more details because he was advancing on me. I backed up at least a few feet before he grabbed the collar of my shirt.

“Where do ya think your going with my flowers?” He let go of my shirt collar and crossed his arms waiting for my answer. I wasn't obligated to stay and answer his question, but if I didn't there's a good chance he would follow me.

“I-its for a f-friend…” He raised his eyebrow.

“Lemme guess, it's for yer lover.”

“What n-no she was really just a friend.”

“Was a friend until ya swept her off her feet.” I tried to figure out why he looked familiar, then it realization hit me like a truck. He looked like Jack, I had overheard a few conversations in between Mark and Jack about their counter parts. I’m guessing that this guy demon thing is Jack’s counterpart.

“No. I swear she was just a friend.”

“I don’t believe ya, show me her.” I sighed and grabbed his wrist and headed for the graveyard. I walked in, the familiar feeling of gloom and grief washed over me. I let go of his wrist and walked to her grave.

“Oh...I’m so sorry…” I kneeled on the ground. I felt his hand on my shoulder, I put my hand on his and looked up at him.

“It’s alright, it’s over now. There’s nothing I can do about it.”

“I feel like this is a bad place to make a friend or at least get to know someone, but I’m Anti.” He smiled a bit.

“I’m Dark. I'm guessing you at least know a little about me.”

“What do ya mean?”

“Im Mark’s counterpart, the one that married your counterpart, at least I think it might be you.”

“OH! Yeah I’m Jack’s counterpart” We both laughed a bit, it took away the feeling of sadness and despair for a moment. It was nice. I saw his eyes drift back to the grave.

“Was she pretty enough for flowers?”

“Beyond it.”

“Was she ever dating you?”

“Not me, Mark. I did meet her a few times though.” I remembered her the first time I took over. Man, i  was not expecting to get hit with a frying pan with bacon in it. I patted the ground next to me, Anti sat down. I told him about her, I told him as the memories came flooding back.

~Flashback~

I took over Mark like I normally would. He did put up more of a fight than usual, at the time I didn’t know why. Until I saw her, she was cooking in the kitchen, I didn’t see what it was but it smelled good. I walked over to her and put my hand on her shoulder and leaned down to her ear and whispered.

“Whatcha cooking human?” She jumped, turned around and smacked me across the face with the searing hot frying pan, getting bacon everywhere in the process. It surprisingly knocked me to the floor.

“Oh sorry, I didn't- what the? What’s up with your eyes Mark?” She set the pan back down on the stove and knelt down carefully next to me.

“Oh I’m not Mark.”

“Then you must be Dark. Mark told me about you.” I honestly didn’t expect her to be so calm about this. The last girlfriend left Mark because she read a fanfic or something where I was a killer fueled by bloodlust. Soon enough she helped me up while the dog enjoyed the fallen bacon.

“So um… Wow I don’t know what to say. Normally I’d have to calm them down. Or try and stop them from salt and burning me while acting like Sam Winchester or something.  I guess Mark really told you what I’m about.” She chuckled.

“Nah, I’m just sorta used to weird things like this happening. When Mark told me I just shrugged it off.” What kinda girl did Mark find? Jeez, I mean I tried scaring her and she would just laugh. I could not find a way to get through her. She seemed fearless. Soon night fell and since I normally stuck around for a couple days I walked into her room. Yeah, yeah I know I sound like a creep but I’m a demon I’m supposed to be scary. I sat on the edge of her bed and accessed her dream. It was odd. I can still remember it clear as day.

Her dream went something like this;

She was being chased by someone. She seemed slow, she soon fell to the ground as the person approached her. I saw the man and recognized him, it was the infamous Wilford Warfstache. He was carrying wings in his hands, they looked like they had been severed off. I wondered where they had come from until I saw the bloodstains down the back of her shirt. She started shifting in her sleep. I couldn’t just stop watching, I wanted to know what happened next. She had starting moving backwards while lying on her back, she ran into something. She looked up and saw Mark, but he had my red eyes. He pulled her up by her shoulders as Wilfred came close enough to look her dead in the eyes, he was inches away from her.

Then it just stopped, everything went black. She woke up. She was shaking and gasping for air.

“No… No dear god please no…” She grabbed her arms and dug her nails into the skin, constantly muttering no or stop. I had left her room before she woke up, just around the time the dream went black. I knocked on her door before opening it.

“Are you okay?” She shook her head.

“What’s wrong?” She opened her mouth to say something but slowly shut it.

“I-I can’t say…”

“Mark can’t hear you, it’s alright, tell me what's wrong.” She shook her head again. She just broke down crying, I didn't know what to do. I tried to comfort her, but before I could even try and hug her wings unfolded from her back. They just came out of nowhere, it almost looked like something from Maximum Ride.  Then I knew what she meant when she said  I’m just used to weird things happening.  Wilford doesn't play around like that, he was really going to hurt her.

“What’s he trying to do to you?” She turned her head to me, she quickly wiped her tears away.

“I-I… How did you know…?”

“I know Wilford, he doesn't play around.”

I spent the next day trying to get whatever it was out of her, she didn’t crack.

I wish she had told Mark before the crash.

~Flashback Over~

“Do ya know where that Wiford fella is?” Anti asked.

“Nope, haven't seen him since her dream.”  We soon left the graveyard and walked back to his house, we talked, we played games, we got to know each other, it was nice.  He seemed cool, but now that I was thinking about what Wilford would have done to her if she was alive, I couldn't stop.

Why did Wilford have her bloody wings?

How did she have wings?

Could Wilford have made the car crash?

More questions flooded my head. I didn’t know how long I was thinking about it for but the death sound of mario brought me out of it.  Before the game reset Anti paused the game and looked at me.

“Dude are you okay you seem out of it?” I looked over at him.

“Oh yeah, sorry. Let’s get back to playing.”

“Are you sure? Somethin on yer mind?” Besides the whole ‘my counterpart’s girlfriend could have just been murdered by my brother.’ Yes, actually. It’s been a tradition between me and Mark that every year I’d come visit him. Halloween is only 8 days away.

“Yeah, so me and Mark do this thing where I go over to his place and just hang with him for a week. Last time I talked to him he told me he wanted me to meet the kids. I was thinking Jack would probably want the same.”

“Sounds like a plan! So should we go get ready?”

“Yeah, Mark hasn’t cared when I come early.” Soon I left Anti’s place and went to go pack. I went back to his house once I was done and waited out front for him. He came out a few minutes later almost hitting me with the door.

“Let’s go!” I grabbed his hand, and I’ve got to admit he’s got nice hands. They were soft and a good bit smaller than my own. I teleported the both of us to Mark and Jack’s shared home. I set my bags down and walked around, looking for Mark. Before I found Mark I found two small children playing in what I could only assume was their playroom.

“Oh hey Anti!” I heard Jack say. They were in another room but I could still hear them pretty clearly. I felt a tug on my pants and looked down to see a girl with really pretty green eyes.

“Are you uncle Dark?” I nodded.

“Yep, and you are?”

“I’m Sam, or Sammy.” I picked Sam up and looked over at the other child. He was standing and looking down at the floor.

“I lost my shoe.” I chuckled and scooped him up as well, I had a kid on each hip. I walked out to the living room to find Jack and Anti sitting on the couch talking with one another. I think Mark said the kids names were Sam and Tim.

“Hey Poppa!”

“Ey! Sammy Sam!” Jack got up and walked over to me, kissing Sam on the cheek.

“You guys are early!” Mark said following it with a laugh. Soon me and Mark were in the kitchen making some chicken and dumplings. Momiplier knows what’s good. After dinner the kids went off to a friends to play, so it left the four of us to talk. I think it’s time they knew.

“So um Mark?”

“Yeah?”

“Did your girlfriend ever act weird around you or keep secrets?”

“Well um, now that you mention it she was. She never told me, she kept saying she couldn’t.”

“There’s a good reason.” Mark looked up at me confused.

“And that is?”

“I think Wilford is the reason why she’s dead.” Jack's eyes widened and Anti shot me a look. I don't know why though. Mark had gasped loudly and covered his mouth. I saw tears quickly rush to his eyes.

“W-why didn’t… Did she know? “I motioned for the four of us to sit down.

“She might have. When I was here for the first time, he was tormenting her in her dreams.” Jack quickly moved over to Mark to comfort him. Anti wouldn’t stop giving me that look.

“She did w-wake up in the middle of the night a lot.” Jack wrapped his arms around Mark’s shoulders, pulling him closer to his chest.

“Why don’t we ask her?”

“What? What do you mean ask her? She’s dead, it’s not like we can text her.” Jack looked over at Anti.

“Anti, theres a handheld mirror on the counter in the kitchen. Can you go get it?” Anti nodded and got up to go get it. When he came back he sat back down in his seat after handing the mirror to Jack.

“What’s the big deal about the mirror?” Anti asked.

“She’s in there. We can talk to her.” Anti and I both looked dumbfounded at them.

“Well get her then!” Anti said, I couldn’t help but notice the slightly happy tone in his voice. Mark whispered something to the mirror and then showed it to me and Anti. A pale gray girl appeared.

“Hello there! It’s been awhile since I’ve seen you Dark! Oh and you must be Anti. Jack’s told me about you.”  I was shocked, but I didn’t have the time to be shocked. We needed to get to the bottom of this.

“Did you and Wilford make a deal?” I saw her face drop.

“W-what…?”

“Did he make a deal with you?”

“I-i…” She paused, she may have been thinking.

“Yes, I had too. If I declined he would have killed Mark.” The room was filled with a quick gasp from everyone in the room.

“What about the wings I saw in your dream?”

“He tried to cut them off, thats when I made the deal. He told me after he was done with my wings he was going to kill Mark.” Mark started crying into Jack’s chest. I handed Jack the mirror.

“Mark, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you, his deal had a few rules. One of them being I couldn’t tell anyone.”  Mark wiped his tears away and looked at her.

“I… It's alright… I see why you did it…”

“Are the kids home?” Jack looked confused.

“No, why do you ask?”

“I wanted to tell them goodbye.”

“What!? Why is that necessary?”

“Wilford’s coming back. I don't want to hurt anyone. Once I tell the kids goodbye, smash the mirror, shatter it, shoot it. Do whatever it takes to make sure I’m gone.”  Mark grabbed the handle of the mirror and held it tight.

“Please don’t go!” He cried harder. Jack held him tighter. Anti took the mirror from Mark, who quickly wrapped his arms around Jack. I looked over Anti’s shoulder. She screamed from inside the mirror as pink semi-transparent clouds covered the view of the mirror. Anti dropped the mirror out of fear and it shattered. Mark quickly looked over at the shards, tears coming out of his eyes like a river. I grabbed Anti by the arm and pulled him back from the shards. We all just stood there in silence, keeping our gaze locked on the shards. Soon a ghost appeared above them. She was back!? THIS IS NOT HOW IT NORMALLY WORKS!!  Jack held Mark closer, it looked like Mark’s grip had loosened.  Her eyes snapped open.

And they were glowing.

Bright.

Pink.
