Deeper Feelings

Jin-Jer showed up at the gravity chamber bright and early. If there was one thing she knew about Vegeta, it was that he always woke up early to train.

"What are you doing here?" he asked.

Jin-Jer stood there with her arms crossed, "You said you were going to train me. Well, I'm waiting." she tapped her foot.

Vegeta smirked. Training was one thing that all Saiyans just loved to do. They are obsessed with becoming stronger. Their brains were wired to work that way and want to be the best. It's what made them such a unique race.

There was no way that Vegeta would take things easy on Jin-Jer just because she wasn't used to this new crucial way of training. She wouldn't want him to do that either. She wasn't afraid to put in the blood, sweat, and tears in order to ascend to a level she only dreamed of.

25 times earth's normal gravity was so intense but Jin-Jer refused to give up. She is a proud warrior who doesn't give up easily. That's why Vegeta looked up to her as a child. She always wanted to improve even if it did seem like her skills were perfect.

Within a few hours, Jin-Jer was able to withstand the gravity. "I'm going to crank it up to 30. I need you to push yourself to use even more power than you are."

Jin-Jer gritted her teeth and answered with a stiff nod. This was the most intense training she's ever done in her life. But there was no way she was going to stop now. Even if she wanted to, Vegeta wouldn't let her. Just like how she never let him stop working hard when he was a kid.

Vegeta could feel Jin-Jer's power rising little by little. She wasn't at SSJ level yet, but give it time and she will be. He noticed that she was getting tired but they weren't done yet. "Keep your eyes open! Don't stop fighting!" he motivated loudly, throwing a series of punches, at which Jin-Jer dodged. One kick came a little too quickly for Jin-Jer to block, thus nailing her right in the ribs. She fell to her knees, clutching her side.

"Gahhh!!" she cringed in pain. "I think my ribs are broken."

"You're fine." Vegeta told her, "Get up."

Jin-Jer tried lifting herself up from the floor, broken bones and all, but the gravity seemed to catch up to her and her power started to diminish.

Vegeta went over to the control panel and shut the machine off. "Turn it back on. I'm fine. I'll fight through it."

"Don't be foolish." Vegeta told her, "Can you stand?"

Jin-Jer weakly made it to her feet. When she took a step to follow Vegeta out of the gravity room, she fell back to her knees. Vegeta kneeled down and picked her up. Jin-Jer smacked her lips, "I can walk on my own." she argued. "I don't need you to carry me."

"Don't be stubborn." he hushed, carrying her into the house and laying her on the couch. She watched him pull out a beige sack. "Here. Eat this."

Jin-Jer scrunched her face at the sight of what Vegeta was offering her. "No thanks. I don't like Lima beans."

"It's called a Senzu bean." he informed. "It'll heal you."

Jin-Jer took the bean and examined it. She shrugged and ate it. Within a few seconds her eyes shot open and she jumped off the couch, being full of energy. Jin-Jer felt her ribs and was amazed that they weren't hurt anymore. "No way! I feel amazing! And all my wounds are gone!" she flexed, "I even feel a bit stronger too." Jin-Jer ran up to the prince and hugged him, "Thanks, Vegeta!"

Jin-Jer couldn't help but hold him in her arms for a few more moments. Vegeta shocked himself when he wrapped one of his arms around her tiny figure. It was odd because back then when they hugged, which was rare since neither showed much affection, Jin-Jer was the one who was stunned when Vegeta showed this act of kindness. Now the rolls were switched. Which seemed to be happening a lot lately.

After they finally pulled away, Jin-Jer turned her face and blushed. No! No! No! I can't believe I just did that! Showing this type of affection is disgusting! He's not a child anymore! Ugh, what has gotten into me?! Jin-Jer mentally slapped herself. Saiyans are not supposed to act this way. It's a disgrace.

"You turned out differently than what I expected, Vegeta." she motioned over to the family picture, resting on the nightstand. "You got a kid. Wife. Friends."

"Kakarot's not my friend."

"Sure." She chuckled, "I always imagined you... I don't know. Taking over. Being a king. Controlling people." the woman listed, "But surprisingly, you're the opposite of that." Hearing those words made Vegeta tense up and cringe. He didn't want to accept that he was a good man. It made him feel less intimidating. More weak.

Vegeta scoffed, looking away. "I've done terrible things before I became.... This." He explained with a grimace. "But nothing has changed the fact that I'm still a powerful warrior."

"The Saiyan side of me says you've gotten soft. But the other half of me says that it takes a stronger man to change when he doesn't like what he sees in the mirror."

Vegeta looked back at her, "What were you doing this whole time before you came to earth anyways?"

"What I was born to do." Vegeta tilted his head in confusion, "I still took over planets so I could take their crops for my own. I took their ships. Threatened to blow up the planet if they didn't obey me." Jin-Jer continued to list with a serious face. Vegeta didn't realize that she was as cruel as he was before he joined forces with the Z-Fighters. Jin-Jer was always so kind to him. Although it was her job, but he had never seen her be assertive with anybody else. "If I came across a warrior planet, I would come in peace to scope out how strong they were. They would teach me their techniques and I would perfect them."

"What did you do after that?"

"Destroy them with their own moves." she bluntly admitted. "Remember at one point that I was stronger than you. Meaning that my body count is pretty damn high too."

"So you were just going through space and purging?"

"I did settle down at one point."

"What do you mean? Like stop fighting?"

"Not exactly." she hopped up on the kitchen counter and made herself comfortable. "Years ago I crash landed on a planet. I can't even remember the name of it anymore. Anyways, this tall man with snow white hair and ruby colored eyes offered to help me. I threatened him of course. It turned out he was the King." Jin-Jer paused for a moment and smiled, "King Dragar. He offered me a place to stay in his castle. He taught me how to manipulate the elements. That's what his people were known for. I was going to kill him but... Part of me got really attached."

"How long did you stay on that planet for?"

"About 10 years." she answered, "I... Fell in love with Dragar. My whole life I had to fight in order to protect myself. This time, it felt nice being protected. Not having to worry... Nobody has ever made me feel that way before."

Vegeta couldn't help but get a little jealous by this story. He can clearly recall saving Jin-Jer's life from that Saiyan that he obliterated. Yet, she claims that no one has ever made her feel safe before.

"We ended up having a son." Vegeta tried keeping his jaw from falling agape. "We named him Blayze because his eyes were bright like fire just like Dragar's were..."

Jin-Jer stopped telling her story. Vegeta couldn't help but notice the tears in her eyes. He rested his hand on her knee, "Are you alright?"

She sniffled softly and nodded. "My son loved learning about what he could do with his power. There was so much more to it than just making the elements move. Blayze was obsessed. Dragar and I became so worried about him. Then one day in the fields, where Blayze liked to practice, I saw this black silhouette that he manipulated with his hands. It had an awful energy. When it touched the ground, the grass and flowers died around it."

Vegeta didn't like where this story was going.

"When Dragar first started teaching me this power, he warned me about the dark side of it. How you can gather dark energy and use it as a weapon... He had to kill his younger brother because he threatened to cloud the planet with death unless he gave up his birth right to the throne."

"What happened to your son?" Vegeta bit his tongue, hoping that Jin-Jer wouldn't get angry with the question.

"He suffered the same fate... Blayze was only 8 years old, Vegeta. He was a little boy who got consumed by evil. He killed Dragar in a rage and destroyed half of the planet."

"What did you do?"

Jin-Jer stared at Vegeta letting her tears break free, "I was able to teach myself how to do your Big Bang Attack. I knew it would work since I saw what it did to Gorelick..."

"You... You killed your son..."

She nodded, "That's why I snapped at your wife yesterday. She has an amazing husband. A strong son. Everything that I used to have and I couldn't be around it any longer." Jin-Jer covered her face as she sobbed. She had never told this story to a single soul and it hurt to relive it "When I came to Earth I wanted a new life. This planet has so many weak people that I knew nothing like that would ever happen again. I'm just stick of losing people I love."

Vegeta put his arm around her and let Jin-Jer cry onto his shoulder, "You don't have to worry about that anymore. I promise."

"Yes I do." she cried.

"What do you mean?"

"You're the only other person that I love who I have left. I don't know what I'd do if I lost you just when I found you again."

Vegeta gave her a weak smile. He pushed the stray strands of hair out of her face and wiped her tears with his thumb. Jin-Jer looked up at him with watery eyes. Vegeta lifted her chin up and gently kissed her tingling lips. "I'll make sure nothing bad ever happens to you again." he whispered to her.

Jin-Jer gave him a weak smile.

"Dad? What are you doing?"
