6.
Everything since the moment Namjoon dropped the bomb was a blur to him.
He remembers freezing in spot and Namjoon leading him onto his own couch while Hoseok wandered further into the small apartment.
He was back pretty soon with a duffle bag and that was the cue for Namjoon to lead him outside before closing the door behind them, wiping the traces off the door.
And as he worried about how this even happened and finally after what seemed like an eternity concluded that these people could've just been fooling him, he was already in a moving car, seat belts on, Namjoon at the back while Hoseok drove.
"What the-"
His voice got caught in his throat as a familiar police car zoomed past them into the apartment complex where he lived.
"They're here to arrest you." Hoseok had chuckled, running a hand through his red hair, ruffling it. "I'd love to see the golden officer's face right now, but gotta get you in a safe place first!"
Considering the situation he didn't know why this man was smiling too much.
Or...
"Why are you helping me?"
"Because-"
"How can you be so sure that they were here for me?"
"Well-"
"Who are you?"
"I'm -"
"What about my mom?!" The sudden realization that he had left his only family back at home had him aggressively pull on his seat belt twice before removing them. "Stop the car- my mom!!"
He attempted to pull open the door only to be stopped by a Namjoon who in panic climbed over from the back and settled himself over the smaller man's lap, sending both of them into (gay) panic.
"Calm down!" The bigger man's voice was oddly soothing and calm. "Please. Your mother is safe. We'll make sure of it. Calm down."
"How can I be so su-re?" His voice cracked a bit and honestly, Namjoon felt bad.
This young man, from what he had gathered didn't have an easy life.
He was the joke of the Seoul Police Agency and his only family was his mother. And he was wrongly accused of being a murderer and for aiding one.
"Because we've got people to keep an eye on her. I promise. Once we get the signal that the cops are away, we'll call her. So, calm down, yeah?"
He didn't get an answer.
"Please don't try anything stupid. Okay? Hoseok will answer your questions now."
Again, he didn't get a response. He wasn't expecting one this time, though.
Carefully, the blond moved back to his seat at the back, gently reminding Jeongguk to wear his seatbelt.
"Okay!" The overly cheerful man spoke once again with yet another blinding smile. "I forgot the order of your questions... But here we go. I'm Jung Hoseok. If you've heard my name before, that is, before I told you my name back at your house it's purely coincidental."
The ravenette could hear Namjoon snickering at the back and for a moment, Hoseok's face sported a scowl before smiling back at Jeongguk once again.
"Ignore him."
Jeongguk gave him a slight nod, wanting him to get on with the explanation, a huge part of his mind worrying about his mother.
"So... Jung Hoseok. I'm a lawyer. That's Kim Namjoon, he's a uh... Self Proclaimed private detective. Used to work with the government and... What happened Namjoon-ah?" The red gave the other a side-eye before turning to the now stoic-faced detective.
"Doesn't matter." The other mumbled, glaring at the back of Hoseok's head.
"Anyway... You know us now. So... One of Namjoon's cousins works with you. Yeonjun. That's his name. He informed Joon as soon as he overheard your chief. Joon called me. And so... Here we are."
A moment of silence followed as Jeongguk took his time processing what the other had said, mentally hoping that he'd be able to repay Yeonjun for this.
But first, he'd have to be proven innocent.
Wait... How did they even assume that he was a murderer?
"Your mother..." Hoseok continued after a moment of studying the other's face, making sure the clearly bigger, stronger, and muscular man wasn't pissed. "My junior lawyer will move into the floor below yours. I know that you're worried, but he's a nice man. Sweet. And I'll check on her too since I'm your lawyer."
"You don't have to pay me though!" He quickly added.
Jeongguk could only nod his head, hoping.
Hoping that his mom is okay.
Hoping that everything would turn out right.
He still wasn't sure if he should trust the cheerful redhead and the tall blonde who gave him fatherly vibes.
His heart says Yes, but the more logical part screams No.
He watched as they now drove past a small town before crossing to a much greener area with wheat fields lining on either side of the road.
The sun was rising over the horizon and he could feel his head throb due to the sleep-deprivation Induced headache.
The pain was a little too much that he had to close his eyes and eventually fall asleep before he even knew it, the fatigue winning over.
"Sleep well Ggukkie." He could hear his mother's sweet voice in his head.
All he wanted was for things to change for the better...
And what's happening right now, just wasn't 'It'.
Oi!
Do you think that Jeongguk should trust Joon and Hoseok?
What do you think Hoseok and Namjoon are hiding about their jobs?
Why isn't Joon working with the government anymore?
Why did they suspect Jeongguk out of all the people?
(The clue is in Chapter 4)
Where do you think they're taking him?
Who do you think is Hoseok's junior lawyer?
Do we need a party hosted by Jackson Wang?
Comment what you think... Yeah?
Cause Comment Mukhyam Bigile...
Anyway...
I hope y'all loved the chapter...
Do tell me if there's anything that I should work on.
Constructive criticism only...
Have a great day, yeah?
Take care!
