Chapter 25 : ARMY, AMI

Despite their condition, the BTS members decided to grant Seokjin's request and it was all together that, prepared for the occasion, they entered the room where their fans were waiting for them, who had come in large numbers to be able to see them.

Walking to the places reserved for them on the platform, Seokjin was discreetly supported by Jungkook who himself slightly limped and being attentive, they just gave the impression that they were as usual, the mathyung-maknae duo, arm in arm. As they had a big smile, the fans did not see their state of fatigue and anxiety that they kept deep inside themselves.

Seokjin could wave slowly to them and with very small movements, because he had decided to remove his braces and his arm sling against the advice of the manager. He couldn't tell him that he was dying and that he soon wouldn't need it anymore, so he told him part of the truth: he didn't want his fans to see him in such bad shape when he came to lift their spirit.

Indeed, he let his face shine for his fans. All the other members tried to hide their worry, as Seokjin had asked them, so as not to ruin this last moment with his fans.

Even though fans quickly saw the bandage on Namjoon's cheek, Seokjin and Taehyung's hand and discovered that Jimin no longer had a voice, the members were able to reassure them, telling them that life's little accidents happen when we worked hard and that wouldn't stop them from continuing to do their best for them.

"Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, Jeon Jungkook, BTS!!!!" the fans chanted with excitement, deeply happy to see their idols.

There were many unfamiliar faces among the fans, showing that the number of fans was growing, their ages, nationalities and ethnicities were becoming more diverse as BTS was becoming more and more popular. Seokjin was so proud of his group, so proud to have been part of it, and also proud of what he was going to leave behind. His other members would do just fine without him, he had no doubt.

They sat down in their respective places, Seokjin between Jungkook and Hoseok, and the fans quickly began to file in front of the BTS members, talking to them animatedly, with admiration and love, giving them gifts, thanking them for everything they meant to them... Seokjin was so happy about it! If this was going to be his last day on Earth, then he was glad that this was how it happened.

He had never been so spoiled by the fans, many told him that they had noticed how admirably he had shown himself in the last MV and in the latest photos and various videos that had been published by the agency. His dancing, his voice, his beauty, his confidence and his generosity towards his fans had deeply touched them and they were impatiently awaiting everything he still had to show them about himself.

Behind his smile, Seokjin couldn't tell them that they wouldn't see more of him. But if that was how he would be remembered, that was fine with him. They wouldn't remember the mediocre Seokjin who doubted himself and didn't have the same abilities as the others. They would remember the Seokjin who tried his best.

Despite his enthusiasm and gratitude to the fans, Seokjin soon could no longer hide his state of great fatigue and seemed on the verge of fainting. Jungkook, who was watching him out of the corner of his eye at the same time as he spoke to the fans and listened to them and who had not escaped everything that the fans had said to Seokjin, hastened to whisper to him with concern:

"Jin hyung, do you want to take a break?"

Seokjin nodded gratefully because he wanted to go and lie down for a few minutes out of sight but before he could get up, a familiar and enthusiastic voice greeted him:

"Hello, Jin oppa!"

This made Seokjin's face hastily turn towards the person who had just greeted him. He immediately recognized the radiant face of a teenage girl looking at him even if she had grown up a little since the last fan meeting.

"Hey, Min-Hi, it's good to see you again," Seokjin told her with a tired but sincere smile.

"Oh, you remember my name?! I'm so happy!" the teenager exclaimed, lacing her hands over her plump cheeks to show her excitement.

"Obviously I remember!"

"Do you still have the gift I gave you?"the girl asked with hope.

"The worry doll? Yes, of course, she- I mean, it never leaves me," Seokjin said, pretending to be happy. "It was an incredible gift, I used it, as you advised me, and it took away my worries. I thank you, Min-Hi."

"I'm so glad I could help you oppa!"the young girl exclaimed, genuinely delighted.

On either side of Seokjin, Jungkook and Hoseok watched this exchange with sadness. Min-Hi had no idea that she had given Seokjin the item that was killing him and had caused BTS so much unhappiness.

She had only wanted to help her idol get better, in the same way that Seokjin, without realizing it and only wanting to help his group by correcting his own faults, had unwittingly ended up hurting others.

"Min-Hi, I have a question to ask you, if you'd like to answer it," Seokjin said.

"Sure, whatever you want!" the young fan immediately told him.

"Last time, you told me that you tried to use the doll yourself and that it worked, that means you saw the doll's powers, didn't you?"

"Yes, I saw, it's fantastic, isn't it? And that's why I gave it to you, I wanted it to help you the same way," the young girl affirmed, her eyes bright and dreamy remembering that her doll was magical.

"And I am grateful to you, but I must ask you: how could you bring yourself to give it to me when it was helping you? I mean, how could you agree to part with it for anyone, weren't you attached to it?" Seokjin insisted, and Jungkook and Hoseok's attentive ears waited attentively for Min-Hi's response.

"Oh yes, of course I was!" she contradicts him, "I was very attached to it, as it is an incredible doll. It was my most precious treasure and it had become my friend and my confidante. But eventually, I found other people that I could call friends and who could help me overcome my worries. I sincerely placed my trust in them and they chased away my worries by giving me their love and accepting mine. I no longer needed my doll's magic as much so I preferred... I preferred to give my treasure to one of these friends who needed it more than me," the girl finished, blushing.

"Me?" Seokjin wondered.

Min-Hi nodded shyly.

"Min-Hi, these friends you made... are you talking about BTS?" Seokjin asked, surprised to be called "friend" by a fan.

"Yes, Army are BTS's friends because BTS offered them their friendship, their advice, their beautiful songs," Min-Hi explained her conception of her relationship with BTS. "They help us and we must help them too, that's what friends do for eachother."

"What you said to me is beautiful, Min-Hi, I'm really touched," said Seokjin who had tears in his eyes, as he was so sincerely touched to understand the depth of their bond with their fans.

They weren't just singers. They gave so much of themselves to their fans that they had, unbeknownst to themselves at first, formed a close relationship with people they didn't know but who knew them and enjoyed seeing them and spent time watching them, even from afar. They had a community of fans who loved them dearly, who supported them with all their heart and would not abandon them no matter what mistakes they made. It was the very definition of friendship. It was a very strong bond.

"Jin hyung is right, It's beautiful and I will never forget these beautiful words," Jungkook intervened, also moved, "they are engraved in my heart from now on."

Hoseok nodded, also touched and young Min-Hi blushed even more.

"Did you hear that well, Jin hyung?" Jungkook whispered, giving him a steady look, "it was by placing absolute trust in her friends – in BTS – that Min-Hi was able to break away from her attachment to her doll. Do you think you can do it too?"

He was full of hope. If there was even the slightest chance that Seokjin would break free from this doll and destroy it before it kills him, then they had to take it.

Seokjin looked hopeful in Jungkook's eyes and in Hoseok's eyes. He knew that from now on, his members, after realizing that they had not been there enough for him, would help him with all their heart to overcome all his difficulties, the same way he wanted to be there for them, he could no longer doubt it. As for Min-Hi's love for him, it represented that of all the fans who trusted him.

The love of his members and his fans for him must have meant more to him than the witchcraft of a worry devouring doll. He had to learn from his fans and place his trust in the hands of the right people, those who mattered to him to help him face his fears and worries.

Then, Seokjin declared, looking in turn at his members, Min-Hi and the other fans:

"I trust BTS and ARMY with my heart to take away all my worries, from now on and for the rest of my life."

Author's note:  Yoongi said this about ARMY"Our fans are called army, it sounds really pretty, and in French "ami" means friends, in English it's ARMY, it sounds like like they're gonna protect us from everything."

ARMY and BTS move forward together, they can't go without each other, right?
