Murakami Seokjin is the son of the Kims' maid and grandson of their gardener. He grew up at the Kims', one of the richest and most influential families in Seoul and owner of a powerful company, without realizing the power of this family and its heirs, with whom he is friends. 

Due to an incident during his childhood with the Kims' youngest son, Kim Taehyung, who threatened his life, an agreement was reached between the Kims and Seokjin's mother: the boy's education would be taken care of from middle school and he would go in the same schools as the Kim's heirs, Namjoon and Taehyung. This is how he becomes Kim Seokjin, ward of Mr. Kim.

However, as he grows up, Seokjin start to suffer from the tyranny of the Kims and has only one obsession: that his dream of being a football player allows him to escape from their influence. It is also his love for football that allows him to briefly become friends with a boy named Jeon Jungkook and whom he hopes to meet again in high school. 

Nevertheless, his dream is threatened by health problems and by the bad tricks played on him by the students at his school on Taehyung's orders who is obsessed with the idea of ​​revenge against Seokjin who chose his brother in the war for influence that the two heirs are waging at school.

At the end of middle school, although he manages to secure a place at the high school of his dreams, Seokjin is unable to move away from Taehyung who, behind his nastiness towards him, clings to his friendship with him and wants to stay with him. 

He eventually realizes that Taehyung really cares about him in his own way and agrees to reconcile with him. This allows him to reconnect with Namjoon too and to start a new friendship with Jimin, who, until then had only been his torturer, but in whom he finally saw goodness.

Behind the meanness and arrogance of the young heirs, Seokjin begins to see a suffering in their hearts that he would like to make disappear by creating sincere relationships of friendship with them. 

But the road is still long because these heirs do not yet know how to follow a path other than the one that has been traced for them...
