Chapter 13: I don't know why you hate me
Seokjin crossed the hall and reached the imposing main staircase which he decided to climb up on one leg because it seemed more fun to him.
Arriving on the first floor, he entered the empty hallway that led to Taehyung and Namjoon's rooms among other rooms. He was about to open the door to Namjoon's room where his mother and Namjoon were to join him but it opened on its own in front of his outstretched hand.
"Wow, this really is magic powder," he gushed, looking at his hand laughing.
"What is he talking about?" asked a teenager older than him who was in front of him.
"Don't listen to him, he's a beggar, these people are all weird," a mocking voice said.
Recognizing the voice, Seokjin quickly raised his head and saw Yoona surrounded by two other people inside of the room, a boy and a girl, not counting the boy who had just opened the door.
"Yoona!" he exclaimed, happy, ignoring the other three people in the room that he didn't know.
To her great surprise, he gave her a radiant smile and threw himself on her to embrace her.
"Wh-"
"Yoona! how have you been since last time?" Seokjin asked in a concerned tone. "I was really scared for you, you know? But then Tae decided to forget about you and I think that's why you're better. I am happy to see you're okay and that you are here with friends! It means you're not alone anymore. Does Tae know you're here? He shouldn't see you, okay? I won't tell him, don't worry: I keep secrets well to protect my friends," he added with a benevolent air.
Yoona, past her astonishment, pushed him away brutally.
"Do not touch me, you're disgusting, I already told you that! And I was never your friend, what are you talking about?! Ha-Joon, take him away from me!"
"The beggar seems to like you!" said the boy who opened the door in a mocking tone pulling Seokjin by the arm and seeing that the boy was obediently letting himself do so.
"Sorry Yoona, I forgot we weren't friends, but I'm just super happy tonight!" Seokjin said apologizing in front of Yoona. "Can we become friends tonight? It's a party, we have to have fun! Can you please let me go?" he asked politely the young man named Ha-Joon who let go of him, seeing that he was no longer approaching Yoona. "Thank you!"
"You psycho, how can you be happy to see me and how can you can you ask me to be your friend?! I hate you, have you forgotten?!" Yoona exclaimed.
"No, I remember," Seokjin replied. "But tonight is a party so I hope that you are not angry with me. I just hope we can all have fun together, you agree?"
"No, I do not agree!" Yoona said with an annoyed look. "What did you smoke to get away with such nonsense, another one of your asthma medications?!"
"Seomething amazing!" Seokjin revealed to her. "If you want, I will ask my friend to give you some too and make you happy. That way, you won't be angry and mean all the time!"
Widening her eyes at the recklessness of Seokjin who had always been her victim, Yoona was going to give him a scathing retort but Seokjin didn't give her time as he asked her:
"In the meantime, please, tell me, what do I have to do to make you forgive me and make you stop hating me?"
"Shut up!! I will never-!" Yoona started to yell.
"What are you saying, Yoona," the other boy in the room chimed in. His name was Ryung and he had long hair tied in a tail tied with a bow tie. "He's offering to do whatever you want just to become your friend, you should accept. He seems to sincerely want to obtain your forgiveness and he looks as gentle and harmless as a lamb."
Ryung looked at Seokjin who kept smiling and who gave him a grateful look.
"Thank you, even though I'm not a lamb," he thanked the older boy warmly before talking again to Yoona : "Please Yoona? I don't want you to hate me. I don't like people hating me," he said, moved as he began to cry without shame.
Stunned, the four teenagers who surrounded him looked at him crying after being so smiling and happy. Then, they laughed at him mockingly.
"Yoona, you said he was a tough guy but in reality, he's just a big baby!" a girl named Mi-Chi exclaimed holding a bottle of soju in his hands.
Yoona was a little confused since she hadn't seen Seokjin cry since their first year at middle school when she first attacked him. He had always wanted to be strong, had no longer accepted being weak. What was making him so whiny all of a sudden?
Besides, it was strange that he wanted to hug her after what happened between them. Even if he was nice, he wasn't that stupid: he wasn't going to throw himself into the arms of his enemy with a smile. She had always found him a bit simple in his attitude, but she had never seen him like that.
"I think the big baby is high," Ryung announced, watching Seokjin's wet eyes very closely.
"Yes, I am," Seokjin affirmed, wiping away his tears, having Jungkook's words in mind. "I want to stay happy, can we play together while we wait for Joonie? Wait no, when Joonie comes we'll have to go to the moon together, how could I forget!"
Realizing that Ryung was right, Yoona opened her mouth, shocked. Seokjin always escaped trouble, he didn't create it. She wondered who could have done this to him but the list of potential culprits was long in that house that night and she figured she could benefit from it. She smiled wickedly.
"I think someone already had fun with him before us," she said to her friends. "He can't smoke, I know because he's sick and has to be careful what he breathes. That means someone gave him something to get high on, he wouldn't have done it alone."
"Yes, I was having fun with my friend but I had to leave and come here because Tae wasn't happy. He might not be happy either if he sees me playing with you," Seokjin said with a frown, seeming to wonder if he could play with Yoona after all.
Mi-Chi nudged Yoona to make her understand that they had to take advantage of the situation and Yoona, smiled evilly.
"Okay, I agree to play with you then," she said.
"REALLY?!" Seokjin exclaimed, happy.
"Yes, we're all going to have fun together," she said grimly. "Ha-Joon, close the door!"
The boy who opened the door earlier closed it and Seokjin looked at everyone who was in the room with him: there was Yoona who was his age, as well as Ha-Joon, Mi-Cha and Ryung who seemed older than them.
"What are you doing in Joonie's room?" Seokjin asked, suddenly puzzled. "Are you his friends?"
"We came to hide here to play forbidden games," Mi-Chi admitted to him with a wink as if she were telling him a secret to keep, while shaking her bottle,. "And now, since Yoona agreed, you're going to play too."
"Oh yes, thank you!" Seokjin agreed, still happy. " What are those games? What shall we play ?"
"It's a game in which we drink. Here, have a drink too!"
Wide eyes, Seokjin looked at the bottle of Mi-Chi and saw other bottles on the ground.
"I can't," Seokjin refused with a frown. "And neither do you, it's adult drinks."
"So? It's a party, you said it yourself! We can do whatever we want and everything is so luxurious at the Kim's! They have so many good bottles in their cellar that they won't even realize that some of their precious bottles are missing," Ha-Joon said while drinking in turn.
"You stole Mr. Kim's bottles?!" Seokjin exclaimed. Even under the influence of drugs, he could not forget the fear this man inspired in him. "You should put them down or Mr. Kim will be furious."
"I'm telling you he won't know anything," Ha-Joon said, annoyed.
"Yes, he will, because I'm going to tell him and I'm going to tell Joonie that you're in his room," Seokjin said, sticking his tongue out at them like a child. "I don't want to play with you after all, I'm leaving."
He was going to go out but the Ryung came forward and slammed the door to prevent Seokjin from going out.
"You are very reckless, for a beggar, I have to admit that," he said coldly. "Unfortunately for you, it is precisely because you are what you are that you must lower yourself in front of us."
He roughly grabbed Seokjin's wrist, who cried out in pain, and forced him to kneel.
"Mi-Cha, Ha-Joon, I want to see your phone pointed at him. No more playing nice with him, you have to treat him like a dog. Yoona wanted to remind him of his true place and that's exactly what we're going to do."
"Okaay!" Mi-Cha said, pointing her phone at Seokjin who looked at the camera.
"Why are you filming me?" he asked, upset.
Mi-Cha snickered.
"Because you are a handsome guy for a beggar."
"I think you're lying," Seokjin replied.
"Yeah, you're right, I lied. I'm filming you because everyone wants to see you do forbidden things that will get you kicked out of your school and your house."
Seokjin opened his eyes wide upon hearing this.
"No, I refuse to do anything forbidden with you, I want to leave this room. I don't want to be kicked out of my home and school, I worked well, so I'm going to go to the school of my dreams, you can't stop me from going there. Even Tae lets me go so I can go, you can't stop me!" Seokjin repeated with conviction.
"Do you think it's you who decides?" Yoona replied. "You never had a say in anything in your life. Taehyung gave you too much freedom, he spoiled you too much. You forgot that you had to obey those above you. Since Taehyung and I are meant for each other and he refuses to make you understand things correctly, I'll be the one to do it for him."
"I am a free person, I won't listen to you. And Tae won't listen to you either because he's also learning to be free!" Seokjin assured, trying to get up.
But Ryung holding him firmly on the ground.
"A free person, huh?" he repeated with a cold smile. "I don't think you fully understand what position you are in. I believe your mother is one of the maids who is serving our parents right now, isn't she?"
"Yes that's right, it's her job," Seokjin said proudly.
"Look at you, so proud! Well, unfortunately, your mother won't be able to do anything for you when she finds out that you were taught good manners by us. Yoona, you want to start I imagine? What do you want to teach him first?"
"He turned Taehyung against me. He thought he was our equal and believed he could be Taehyung's friend. It's because of him that Taehyung broke up with me!" Yoona said, angry.
"Ouch, hard to take, I would have killed him if I were you!" Mi-Chi mocked. "Hey, parasite!" she said to Seokjin, "do you have any remorse? If you have some, maybe Yoona will be more lenient."
Seokjin shook his head.
"I have no remorse. I'm sorry Yoona is sad but I can't let her be with Tae, she's not a good person to him."
Ha-Joon, Mi-Chi and Ryung burst out laughing which made Yoona angry. She suddenly remembered the humiliation of the slap Taehyung had given her in front of everyone because of Seokjin. All the hatred she felt for Seokjin came back at once.
"Turn off your cameras for a second, there's something I need to do before the official show. Ryung, hold it tight."
Seokjin grimaced when Ryung, without letting go of his wrist with one hand, grabbed his hair with the other and pulled him back.
"Ouch, that hurts!" he whined without having the strength to struggle though.
"This is just the beginning!" Yoona told him before slapping him brutally.
Seokjin cried out in pain but didn't have time to scream when Yoona immediately gave him a second, then a third.
"Why can't you leave me alone? I never wanted to hurt you, and you always hurt me, long before you broke up with Taehyung!" Seokjin whined, "I didn't do anything to you, I asked you for forgiveness but I don't know why I have to apologize because I don't know why you hate me... What should I do to make you stop hating me?"
"Do yo really think there is a way for me not to hate you?" Yoona said, rubbing her sore hand after hitting Seokjin. "You are just an idiot. There is no way I will ever be nice to you : I hate who you are, nothing you say or do will ever make me change my mind! Ha-Joon, my hand hurts, keep hitting him for me," she said to the boy.
Ha-Joon shrugged his shoulders and grabbed Seokjin by the collar of his shirt before punching him with punches that almost knocked him out. Ryung stopped his friend when he saw that Seokjin's face was red and swollen. Seokjin's head bobbed when the older boy tried to let go of him.
"We can't damage him too much before the video where it will look too much like an attack. We must harm him, not us in the process."
"You're right," Ha-Joon said, a little worried. Suddenly, he saw Mi-Chi who had her phone pointed at himand realized that she had filmed him hitting Seokjin. He shouted: "What are you doing, we said to turn off the cameras!!"
"Yes, but it was too tempting. It will be a memory. Don't worry, I won't publish this one if you marry me."
"MI-CHI!" Ha-Joon yelled, visibly afraid.
"Oh, stop, if you're scared you can leave now, you coward," the girl replied. "Now it's show time, isn't it Yoona?"
"Yes," Yoona approved. "Guys, get him drunk and film him. We're going to make sure Mr. and Mrs. Kim kick this rascal out of their house and never let him near Taehyung again."
"No... no... let me go, I want to go," Seokjin said weakly, tears streaming down his burning cheeks, pulling to get rid of Ryung but the boy held him tightly.
Ryung let go of his wrist while continuing to hold him by the hair and grabbed a bottle from Mi-Chi's hands. He shoved it casually into Seokjin's mouth, who nearly choked when he felt the neck sink into his throat and even more so when he felt the bitter liquid flow out and burn his throat.
"I hope you liked it because you're not going to stop until you're drunk," Ryung told him when he lifted the bottle.
"N-no, I don't want to..." Seokjin whined, panting, as alcohol slipped from his mouth and down his chin before falling onto his expensive shirt.
But after making him so happy, the drug made him weak and desperate. He realized with despair he didn't have the strength to resist no matter how much he wanted. There was no longer any happiness in him, he realized that these people wanted to ruin his life but he could do nothing about it.
"I don't care about what you want, I do what I want with you," Yoona told him.
This sentence seemed too familiar to him. He had heard them several time before from Taehyung. Was it Taehyung who let Yoona pick on him tonight? He must have known she would be here and yet he had let her come here to attack him. Seokjin, who no longer had any self-control, cried.
"That's it, cry, no one here feels sorry for you," Yoona said wickedly. "Everyone here can do whatever they want to you. This is the cost of not knowing how to stay in your place, you beggar. If you wanted to fly too close to the sun, you had to know that you would burn your wings!"
