When the end of this short first day arrived, everyone could see Seokjin enter with Taehyung in the luxurious car of the Kim's family who came to pick them up and this gave rise to a tremendous uproar in the heads and mouths of all these little middle schoolers, who had had enough time to realize that Taehyung was the boy they didn't want to get in trouble with and Seokjin the boy they wanted to be friends with.

Seeing this enthusiasm for their duo, Taehyung couldn't help feeling a certain pride: the other students had already learned to respect him and in addition, they had just noticed that Seokjin was his friend. They wanted him all by their side, but he was the one who had him by his side. Seokjin was his.

However, he couldn't forget Jimin's words about Seokjin and he decided to deal with the matter during the ride home, but Seokjin beat him to it:

"Tae, what you did today is very bad, you could have hurt Seung very seriously! Luckily it wasn't his eye that was burned but on the cheek. The school nurse said he would recover soon, so don't worry to much."

"When did I give you the impression that I was worried about that jerk?" Taehyung shot back.

Disappointed, Seokjin realized that Taehyung and Seung had both designated each other the same way, seeming to become arch-enemies. But he didn't want to give up: he wanted his two friends to get along well.

"I think you got carried away and you don't really hate Seung, it's just that you don't know each other yet. He's really funny and nice, oh, and he loves football as much as I do! The three of us should play football together one of these days, that would allow you and Seung to-"

"Will you stop talking to me about that stupid Seung?!" Taehyung cut him, frustrated. "You spent the entire day with him and you only talked to me about him today, I'm fed up. Know that I don't care about him at all. Open wide your ears : I don't like him!"

He saw very well that it didn't please Seokjin but he wanted to make him understand that there was no chance of convincing him to be Seung's friend. More so, Taehyung wished that Seokjin, upon hearing this, understood on his own that he had to distance himself from Seung. After all, he was his friend before being Seung's.

So he was upset to hear Seokjin protest:

"Even if you don't like him, he's my friend, so can you try to be nice to him anyway?"

"No," Taehyung grumbled. "If he talks to me again like he did today, I'll hurt him even more."

"Tae!" Seokjin exclaimed, "please, don't say that ! You can't attack him again like you did today, no, you can't attack anyone like that."

"Don't tell me what I can or can't do, I can do anything I want."

"At home maybe but not at school, because there are rules to respect and violence is forbidden!" Seokjin replied.

"At home, at school and everywhere. I do what I want because I am Kim Taehyung, I do what I want."

"And I'm kim Seokjin," Seokjin retorted, "that doesn't give me the right to hurt others or make them bow down to me."

Taehyung burst out laughing.

"Jin, having the same name doesn't make you a member of my family."

Offended, Soekjin replied :

"I know that very well, and that's not what I meant. What I mean is that our name whatever it is does not authorize us to be mean others. You know, my whole class talked badly about you and my classmates didn't find you very nice. I defended you of course," Seokjin hurriedly said as he saw Taehyung's face darken, "I told them that you weren't usually like that, but it would be nice if you prove to them that I'm right and that you're a good person."

Bewildered, Taehyung looked at Seokjin as if he was the last of the simpletons.

"Have you become an idiot today Jin? You must be in a class full of idiots..." he added thoughtfully, thinking that he should probably punish one or two for slandering him.

"Why do you say that? It's not nice ! You are not nice today. And by the way, I really like my class and I know my classmates are not idiots."

"Stop saying I'm not nice when it was your friend who insulted me. And yes, your classmates are idiots if they still dare to speak ill of me."

"Then show them that you are not who they think you are. You could apologize to Seung for example, I'm sure he will forgive you and you can get along after that."

"I don't have to prove anything to your friends and I will certainly not apologize to Seung! And stop trying to defend me in the eyes of others, it annoys me!"

"But... but I said that for your own good, not to annoy you!" Seokjin told him, puzzled

"I know that, but I don't want you to do it, you're only making it worse by making me look like a loser!"Taehyung exclaimed, exasperated.

"I don't want you to be seen as a loser, I just want you to make friends and that won't happen if you're mean to everyone." Seokjin protested.

Taehyung rolled his eyes. Even though Seokjin's intentions towards him were obviously benevolent, they were nonetheless naïve and would eventually cause him harm, as Jimin had pointed out. Meeting the gaze of the driver in the rearview mirror who was listening to their conversation attentively, he suddenly felt humbled.

He shouldn't have of course, because Soo was an employee of his family who had always known them, but at his age, Taehyung was starting to be particularly aware of people's gazes and judgment, and after his first day as a middle schooler, he was sure to one thing: he hated humiliation.

And unfortunately, the only person currently by his side to receive his growing mood swings was none other than Seokjin.

"Shut up, Jin, you pissed me off enough today! I won't let you tell me what I should do or should be, especially in front of others!" he yelled, more abruptly than he would have liked. "I'm the way I should be and they're going to have to accept it, all of them, including you, got it?!"

Shocked by Taehyung's tone, Seokjin lowered his head and fell silent. He was feeling suddenly very sad. First, Taehyung's parents had told him that their friendship was humiliating for Taehyung, and now Taehyung was yelling at him, telling him that he made him look like a loser in the eyes of others. Could it be that Taehyung's parents were right?

Instead of wanting to make Taehyung and Seung friends at all costs, Seokjin wondered if he should avoid Taehyung as much as possible to prevent him from humiliation and at the same time, to prevent him from hurting his friends. Because far from regretting his actions and wanting to repair them, Taehyung seemed to find them justified and normal and it seemed inconceivable to Seokjin.

Even though he was the one who ordered it, this silence soon made Taehyung uneasy. He was ready to alienate everyone, but he didn't want to lose Seokjin's friendship. He knew he had been tough on Seokjin and it had made him unhappy. However, he was too proud to apologize while Soo was with them. So, he just leaned back against Seokjin's shoulder, who looked up in puzzlement.

"I'm tired from this first day of school, let me sleep and wake me up when we get home."

Relieved to see that Taehyung no longer seemed angry with him, Seokjin forgot the doubts that had just crossed him and nodded smiling, not seeing in the dazed rearview mirror the driver who couldn't understand their relationship.

"I knew you were just stressed and it wasn't really you talking today," Seokjin whispered by repositioning himself so that Taehyung was more comfortably seated.

Taehyung didn't answer anything. He would have preferred Seokjin to accept him like this and stop wanting to change him, rather than find him an excuse that would stop working the very next day. Indeed, he wasn't stressed, he was just naturally like that, and Seokjin was going to have to get used to it or there would soon be a problem.

"Be careful Jinnie, Taehyung is jealous of your friend."

"Uh?" Seokjin.

Namjoon had asked him to tell him about his first day of school, which he had done without hiding anything.

Taehyung was at the tailor's with Mrs. Kim who decided to give him a new suit in honor of entering middle school, and Namjoon joined Seokjin who was playing with his ball next to rose garden. As usual, he had sat against a tree to read a book while watching Seokjin's lively juggling from time to time. The latter seemed to be in the grip of a certain nervousness, which had led Namjoon to ask him what had happened.

"Taehyung thought he could have you all to himself at school like at home, but he found out not only that you weren't in the same class as him, but that you had already made yourself a good friend. He must feel like you replaced him," Namjoon explained, not without a smirk as he thought of how irritated Taehyung must have been.

"But I didn't replace him, I just made a new friend, I have the right, don't I?!" Seokjin exclaimed, taken aback, without ceasing to juggle nervously, faster and faster and lower and lower.

"Of course you have the right my Jinnie but Taeyung is a weird creature, you know it!"

"Please don't say bad things about him, everyone said bad things about him today, it will hurt him if it continues like this, poor Tae..." Seokjin lamented as he continued his juggling. "I felt so sorry for him!"

"Oh, my sweet Jinnie, how can you be so kind, even with someone so repulsive?!" Namjoon exclaimed tenderly as he rushed over to hug him from behind, squealing out of him and causing him to miss his ball.

"Jooniie!" Seokjin grumbled as he saw the ball slip away from him and roll a few meters away.

"Sorry, you're so cute, I can't help it ! You and Taehyung looks like Beauty and the Beast, I should write your story but in mine, Little Beauty will not marry the evil Beast, she will be saved by a handsome and good prince who will cut off the head of this cruel beast!"

"Joonie, you made me miss my juggles! Please let me go, I have to start over, now." said Seokjin in whose eyes, missing his juggles was more serious than hearing Namjoon, behind his fairy tale metaphor, call his brother a beast of cruelty that he was going to eliminate.

Noting the order of his priorities and finding him more adorable than ever, Namjoon laughed as he loosened his grip.

"Anyway, you don't need to start over, you achieved your goal for tonight, right? You were already over a hundred juggles, I counted!"

"You're right, I didn't think you noticed. Even when you read, you see everything!" Seokjin said, glad Namjoon saw him succeed. Then he thinks : "Since you see and you know everything, did you know in advance that Taehyung was going to be mean to my friends?"

"Yes, I suspected that. I was sure you wouldn't be in the same class and he wasn't going to be happy. He gets angry so easily that it doesn't surprise me that he took it out on immediately your new friend."

"Really?"

"Yes, for me it was easy to guess, but I kinda warned you about that, didn't I?" Namjoon said, not telling him that he was sure that many other things were going to happen with Taehyung this year.

"I don't understand Joonie, how come you're always right?" Seokjin asked, wondering if he shouldn't question him more to know how to better apprehend the days to come. If Namjoon knew everything, then maybe thanks to him, he could avoid that day's event from happening again in the future.

"Because I'm smart," Namjoon said with a large smile before saying in a serious tone : "Jinnie, you found someone who shares your interest in football and who makes you smile, I'm happy for you but believe me, no matter how hard you defend him, Taehyung will do anything to take this friend away from you so you better stay on your guards. If you want, i can help you, I will watch Tehyung from afar for you."

Seokjin shook his head.

"It's kind, thank you, but I'll watch over Seung myself and make sure Taehyung learns to appreciate him and not to hurt him anymore. Very soon, he will see that Seung is a super amzing person!"

"If you say so, Jinnie," Namjoon said, waving to Yoko who had just left the Kims' home at the end of her shift and was returning to find Seokjin. "But don't tell your mom what Taehyung did to Seung, she might get worried."

"I won't," Seokjin agreed, convinced that this dramatic event would not happen again, and that Taehyung would take into account what he had told him despite his reluctance.

Taehyung took a deep breath repeatedly, as if what he was about to say cost him both his inheritance, his honor, and the honor of his entire family.

"Are you having an asthma attack? So, I eventually ended up infecting you," Seokjin said. His face inches from Taehyung's, he could feel Taehyung's heavy breathing in the darkness as they both lay on the same futon in Seokjin's room.

"Asthma is not a contagious disease," Taehyung replied seriously. He had become an expert on this disease since it was diagnosed in Seokjin.

Seokjin laughed softly and only then did Taehyung realize that Seokjin was joking.

"I know it well, it was a joke, Tae."

"Oh... okay," Taehyung said.

"But I have the feeling that you have been trying to tell me something without succeeding since a while ago now. I am wrong?" Seokjin encouraged him gently.

"I'm sorry."

Taehyung spoke those words in one breath after hesitating for so long to release them from his consciousness and he was now free of them.

"Thank you but sorry about what, I'm not sure?" inquired Seokjin, who secretly hoped that Taehyung would apologize for his behavior towards Seung.

"For talking badly to you earlier," Taehyung said nonetheless, much to Seokjin's disappointment. "I didn't want to but I was angry."

"I don't blame you for that Tae, I know you were very tired, you don't have to apologize to me," Seokjin reassured him, "but maybe you could-"

"No," Taehyung cut him off.

"But you don't even know what I'm going to say!" Seokjin protested.

"Yes, I know Jin. You're going to ask me to apologize to that jerk Seung and I won't."

"Stop calling him a jerk!" Seokjin protested trying not to speak too loudly so that his mother doesn't burst into his room and sees them arguing about what Teahyung did to his friend.

"He called me a boor!" Taehyung replied.

"Yes, but you punished him badly for that!"

"Exactly, it was a punishment so I certainly won't apologize for it!"

"Okay, fine," Seokjin ended up pouting before correcting his position to turn to the opposite side of Taehyung's. "Good night."

"Don't do that Jin," Taehyung said.

"Do what?"

"To remain sulky and silent for revenge."

"I'm not taking any revenge, it's not a football game and we are not in a competition. I'm sleepy and since you said you won't apologize to Seung, there's no point in continuing our discussion, I prefer to sleep."

"No need to try to convince me again, I will not apologize," Taehyung warned him.

"Okay, I understand."

"Alright then, now that we're okay, turn around, I don't like it when you turn your back on me."

"I don't feel like it tonight," refused Seokjin, who had already closed his eyes, ready to sleep.

"You are annoying," growled Taehyung who moved closer to him, "turn around."

Seokjin suddenly opened his eyes wide, chuckled and squirmed uncontrollably when he felt Taehyung's fingers slide under his shirt to tickle him.

"Aahaahaa, s-stop, p-please," he managed to gasp, turning around when he couldn't take it anymore and he tried to remove Taehyung's hands. "ha ha, n-no more, please, I can't take it anymore!"

"Okay," Taehyung replied with a satisfied smile, seeing him out of breath from laughing too much, and stopping tickling him as he had gotten what he wanted by making Seokjin turn around.

He hugged his friend who willingly curled up against him like he used to do. This familiar and comforting position put an end to their quarrel and the two fell asleep soon, without any more argument, convinced that the next day and for the rest of their lives, everything would be back to normal.

They were both wrong.

Because contrary to what Taehyung wanted without asking for it explicitly, Seokjin was not going to stop being friends with Seung.

And Taehyung was not going to stop hating Seung.
