[3rd Person's POV]
Todoroki woke up from the longest slumber he had had in a while. He didnt know if it was some kind of medicine but he had slept peacefully after a long period of time. He looked around the mildly lit room. Seeing the faint amount of light coming through the ventilators, he could assume it was at least noon. He sat straight on the ground, gathering his thoughts and memories. Flashbacks of what had happened last night flooded his mind.
Flashback
Todoroki had just come out of the shower in sweatpants when he heard his phone beep. He wondered as he reached his phone.
It had been long since he had gotten any kind of texts from him. As far as he could remember, the last time he had sent a text was about a week ago. He guessed having Bakugo by his side had given him some good lukc after all. So he didn't really expect him to text him when he reached the phone. Expecting to see the blond's text hanging on his screen.
But surprisingly enough, it wasn't the ash blond. Neither it was his father. In fact, it was him.
"Happy huh?"
Todoroki's eyes widened at the second text. Had it really been that long? Last time he had received such a text, he had been breathing normally like nothing had happened. But that time, his breath hitched. Was it because he was afraid? Or was there another reason to it?
Either way, Todoroki knew he had to dress himself and head out to a certain place. It had always been like this, he would receive a text every now and then and would have to go to the said area with some money. That was the only way he could protect her.
But this time for some reason, money didn't work for them. They wanted something else and Todoroki knew it. But what exactly, is what Todoroki didn't know. When he had come to give them the promised amount of money, they refused to be satisfied and attack him all on a sudden. Which was, of course, normal. He would receive a few beatings while delivering money, but they knocked him off this time. They had intended to. Todoroki tried to freeze and burn them several times, only to realize they had mixed some sort of gas in the air which made him sleepy. And that's probably how he fell asleep with a few cuts on his arms and a big one on his stomach.
Those were the last things he knew before going completely numb. And he had no idea where he was, what the time was and if people around had found out that he's gone or not. Maybe they had found out, Maybe he was going to be rescued in no time, Todoroki thought. But there was his fear. If there was something else these people wanted other than money then it must had been a someone. A person probably close to Todoroki. And he feared that his nightmare would become the reality. Right then, he couldn't think of anyone but a certain ash blond.
Bakugo. He was coming for him, right?
The dual haired male groaned and rested his head on his knees. He hoped with all his soul that Bakugo wouldn't come alone. He hoped that Bakugo wouldn't be foolish enough to enter an enemy's hideout all by himself. He hoped that Bakugo wouldn't be too stubborn and let the pro heroes help him.
But he only hoped.
¤
Bakugo was blasting through the air, leaving traces of burn marks wherever he was passing. Though he had gotten himself a usefull information, the place was hard to find in the world map. Different alleys, dark narrow pessages and a few unwanted crows finally led him to what he assumed was the correct destination. But that wasn't quite enough, he needed to find the secret hideout. On his way to the said area, he had scrolled thought some of the other texts that were sent from the unknown number. Listing them all and searching them up, Bakugo had found out that they were around the same area. More likely, the locations were in a circuler way. Which only led him to assume that somewhere in the middle, there was a secret hideout. And he mentally prayed to whoever is up there that he was correct.
Blasting another tree with his quirk, he decided he needed a break. heck, he had been running and blasting different things for about thirty minutes. No matter how much he wanted to continue, it was physically impossible for him to take another step without sitting for at least twenty seconds. Hence, he spotted and tree and sat under it. Panting, he wiped out some of the sweat from his forehead. Doing so, all sorts of negative thoughts flooded his mind for the second time of the day. He wondered where and in which situation Todoroki was right now. Maybe he was being treated like a dog, maybe he was having a hard time breathing?
The blond's breath hitched as he felt his chest getting tighter. No, there wasn't any time to waste. He needed to start again right then. And he knew that the thought of Todoroki being tortured alone would keep his spirits up. After all, for that certain naive dumb stupidly beautiful owner of those gorgeous mismatched eyes, he could do anything.
Despite his tiredness, he stood up again and started running, blasting every now and then either to explode something or to boost up his running speed.
¤
Todoroki looked up when he heard the crack sound coming from the door. After a few useless attempts of trying to freeze and break the door, he was exhausted and tried to melt some ice cubes in his mouth to try and get some water out of it. Funny, how he had control over two quirks which could produce water, but there he was trying hard to do so. It was very funny how he was supposingly one of the most powerful people in his school, but there he was, unable to break from such weakling type of villains.
It was so funny to Todoroki that he had even chuckled a bit to himself. For the rest of the time, he had been wondering what would had happened if he didn't come last night. He probably would have been eating soba right now with Bakugo being an ass and nagging him about trying more spicy food. Maybe he would have been laughing. But then again, maybe he would have been visiting her again because she was the only reason he was enduring all these.
When he looked up, he saw a familiar man entering the dark room, As expected.
"Are we treating you properly, Ice prince?" The guy sarcastically expressed to which Todoroki rolled his eyes at. He wasn't in mood for lame jokes.
"Grumpy, are we?"
"Who do you want" Todoroki demanded to know.
"I knew you are smart enough to figure that out. Good job." The man let out an ugly laugh.
"Who do you want, Kazuki?" Todoroki asked again. This time with a more stern voice.
Kazuki laughed, which definitely sounded more evil than the one before.
"Me gang has been watching you for quite a time now. We noticed that guy you've been hanging around with. What was his name again? Ah, Bakugo Katsuki, was it?"
Todoroki threw a piercing glare at the raven haired guy. Kazuki Omura, the leader of a villain gang called 'Evillain'. Though Todoroki wouldn't call them a great threat, there were a number of things they could do which threatened the dual male. As for example, hurt his mother. His mother was the only reason he had been giving these people money for alcohols. The villain gang didn't really have much powerful quirks, but the ones they had were some usefull quirk. Like, the guy in front of him right that moment had a hold of the quirk called Eraser. It was much like professor Aizawa. But the only difference was Kazuki had to touch the opponent with all ten fingers to actually make the quirk work.
Todoroki knew that as long as he could keep that man away from him, he would be able to escape. But the problem was, his mother wouldn't have been able to defeat him because of her illness.
Todoroki knew he could get out of here anytime, but he wouldn't. Because of her sake.
But when the raven haired guy uttered the ash blond's name, Todoroki lost it. His right hand immediately froze Kazuki's two legs whilst the raven haired boy kept laughing.
"Mad? Angry?" Laughter was heard loud. "I see he means so much to you, this just makes it more fun."
"Don't you dare to lay a finger on him."
"We'll see about that, Ice Prince."
Just when Todoroki was about to freeze his entire body, the door cracked open once more.
"I sense someone running towards this direction. He's almost here." A white haired girl popped her head in. A dead look in her eyes. Her quirk was that she could sense someone's arrival from about a mile away. While this quirk wasn't very usefull, it was a great opportunity for the villains to know when the opponent would attack.
"I see, heh." Kazuki looked back at Todoroki. "This game is going to be fun."
"What?"
"We'll really enjoy watching you having your loved one taken away from you before your eyes."
Todoroki's eyes widened. "What do you mea-"
BOOM
They all closed their eyes at the noise, startled mostly. While Todoroki's worst fear had come true. He knew Bakugo Katsuki was there to save him. And he knew he was alone.
"Damn Bakugo, why are you so stubborn." Todoroki sighed as he got up. If Bakugo was there alone to save him, why not help him while he could? In a instant he froze Kazuki and the other girl upto their necks. And then, he ran away from the room. Following the sounds of yelling and screaming which clearly belonged to a certain ash blond, he was able to find the main corridor. That's when he started to calculate.
He froze two villains. One minor, one major. But they could break through the ice anytime. He knew there was another villain who had a extreme hammer like energy on his right hand, he could seemingly break anything and Todoroki feared that this villain over there would do something like that to his ice. So the first thing he needed to do was to find the villain who's right hand was shaped like a hammer and freeze it fully. And again, he prayed that the villain hadn't reached the previous room by that time. He started to slam open every door to find any sort of threatening villain, also for the hope to catch up with his boom boom boy.
"Hey you!" Todoroki heard a man scream from behind. "How the hell did you get out!?"
Todoroki turned around to face the villain and instantly recognized him. The one he had been looking for, hammer hand. He didn't quite get a hold of the names in this gang, but he had an idea of their quirks and gave them different names based on that.
His right leg started to create big ice cubes in the space between them with one tap. But for some reason, when hammer-hand threw his hammer fist at his frozen body, the ice instantly broke. And that was what Todoroki was fearing the most. He tried again and again until he got enough of it. The villain was getting closer and he had to do something before he completely destroyed his existence. Was it time?
But even if it was the time, what about his mom? What would happen to her if he decided to take the next step? Could he keep the promise to save her from any danger in the world? Todoroki wondered, if not his mom, who else is he even fighting for?
Suddenly the sound of something big blasting startled them. Even though to the villains it was a matter of annoyance, to Todoroki it was an answer. He knew who else to save. Some who had been saving him in different occasions. Someone who he would like to have in his life. Someone he would love to spend the rest of the life with. That someone being Bakugo, his angry blond bird.
His left side instantly lit up. Hot red flames ruining his favorite t-shirt, but he didn't care. As long as he had an aim to save his angry platinum blond haired boy, he was ready do surpass any boundaries. The hammer hand was standing there with his eyes wide. For the longest time they had thought that Todoroki was unable to use his flames. So they always kept villains who could fight against his right side anytime. But now, they were proven wrong. Todoroki did have a good control over fire and Damn those flames were hot.
Immediately, Todoroki's left hand set a barricade of fire between two bodies. Trapping hammer hand in a circular pattern of burning hot flames, he ran through the corridor again. He knew the flames wouldn't murder him, maybe a few burn marks. But if he tried to get out of the barrier, he would surely die. And he knew the villain has no intention to give his life over something so useless.
Running through the halls, he had frozen two more minor villains. One's quirk being super speed, and the other was able to be invisible but her clothes remained visible and that's where Todoroki took the opportunity to freeze her quickly. His left side was still on fire for whatever reason.
"YOU FUCKING MORON!" He heard a voice scream from the basement. Had he been running circles and circles for a few times? He sure got mad at his stupidity, but he was able to take down a number of villains.
He quickly found the stairs and ran towards the basement, being aware for any kind of attacks being thrown at him. When he reached the basement, he found out it was actually the ground floor. And then he wondered how whey were able to carry him upstairs since they didn't have any villains with powerful physical abilities. Or had they?
"Did they get more villains? Oh shi-"
Before he could finish his mini talk to himself, a large piece of glass had been thrown directly towards him which he froze immediately. It wasn't a piece possibly throws by a human, which could only mean one thing.
Someone over there had the quirk of telekinesis. And indeed, it was a very powerful and usefull quirk.
Todoroki created a shield of ice with his right hand. Burning all the steel made materials thrown at him with his flames. He peaked through the shield to find Bakugo while following the explosion noises. He mentally hoped that he was okay, safe and in one peace. Right now, the last thing he wanted was to see his beloved one injured badly.
His beloved one?
Todoroki pushed the thought away when another piece of platinum flew towards him. He needed to detect the owner of this quirk and find out the source of his quirk. By then, he had figured out that the villain might use his hands to control the quirk. So his first chance when he detected the villain's location would be freezing his two hands.
More explosions where heard and the random things stopped being thrown at Todoroki. He peaked from his shield and looked away immediately when he saw someone's hands bleeding. They were exploded to a point where they had no difference with lumps of freshly cut flesh. In front of the man, stood a blond haired male with his eyes widened at the sight as well.
"What the hell..." he said while looking away from the massacre. And that's when he spotted the dual male.
Bakugo's eyes lit up when he spotted Todoroki. The one he destroyed someone's hands for. Even though he wanted to go and hug and dual male because he found him, he couldn't. He was traumatized. Did he really just destroy someone's hands? One of the most important parts of a human body? What will happen now?
He remembered how his hands sweated too much to the point where he had no control over his explosions. They were just going off to random places, destroying random things. But when he someone managed to get a grip on the telekinesis user's hands to prevent him from throwing more things at him, his hands went out of control and blasted a big explosion which caused the scene before him. After the explosion, he was left in awe at what he had done.
Tears started to form in his eyes as he stared at the red and white haired male. What had he done? He probably hated him now. He probably wouldn't't be there for him with the affectionate words now. Bakugo could probably never be able to talk to him now. All these negative thoughts flooded his mind as he fell on his knees, tears streaming down his eyes. He right then had no control over emotions. All he could think of was what he had done and what the circumstances might be.
"Bakugo.." Todoroki came closer to the blond when he saw him breaking down on his knees, crying like he had just seen his parents die before him. The man who had his hands exploded screamed in agony, at which Bakugo closed his eyes and ears.
Todoroki knew Bakugo felt guilty. He knew that he didn't mean to destroy a person's most usefull organ. He knew he blamed himself for every single thing happened. But Todoroki knew it wasn't his fault, he knew that Bakugo had no control over his sweats and explosions in such situations. He knew his anger made it worse. And Todoroki knew that the last thing the blond wanted was to hear were the words "what have you done?"
And Todoroki didn't dare to say that, he didn't intend to in the first place. He wrapped his arms around bakugo's shoulders from behind and kneeled down himself. Basically back hugging the blond, he whispered in his ears. "It's okay. It's not your fault. You came here to save me, you saved me. You have fullfilled your duty as a friend. There's nothing wrong with it." Todoroki's grip tightened around Bakugo when he heard him sniffle and breathe hitch. "Katsuki, it's alright. It's not your fault. You're okay, I'm okay, everything's okay."
For a few minutes Todoroki kept saying the same things. He wanted Bakugo to know that it wasn't his fault. While doing so, he felt a ticklish feeling in his stomach. After what it felt like years, he started to feel warm again. Being this close to Bakugo made his heart flutter. The ticklish feeling in his stomach growing more and more as he felt the blond's muscles relax under his touch. Was this what they called butterflies in their stomach? Todoroki assumed so.
Bakugo on the other hand, had his face red as ever. He had flinched when he first felt Todoroki's buff and strong arms softly wrapping around him. But that wasn't the end, the dual male put his chin on his shoulder and continued to whisper the same things over and over again. The first few times, he paid attention to the words. But then he felt himself paying more to the warm feeling growing inside him. All the beats his heart skipped, how couldn't count. Right then he felt like there were no regrets dying in his Todoroki's arms. But when his name rolled off of Todoroki's tongue? Oh, how it made his heart skip so much beats that he could also have died from a heart stroke.
It was all over, right? He had no worries. At least he thought he didn't.
The beautiful moment they were having, the one moment they wanted to last forever was shattered into pieces when a sharp piece of glass hit Todoroki from behind and made a big cut at the right side of his abdomen. Blood gushed out of the cut as todoroki whinced in absolute pain. The smell of fresh iron mixed in the air all over again.
"WHAT THE FUCK!?" Bakugo screamed as he held todoroki in his arms. He had gotten so carried away that he forgot there was a living villain the the same room. But he thought he destroyed both of his hands? Then how?
"Ah, shit." Todoroki whinced. "I thought he used his hands to use telekinesis, turns out it was his brain."
"What!?" Bakugo stood up, carried half of Todoroki's body and ran through the hallway. Eventually he had gotten much far from the villain as he was still, very injured.
"His brain is how he controls things. That's a pretty powerful quirk, I wonder why he chose to be a villain and most importantly, join hands with these weaklings." Todoroki said, more blood gushing out of his new cut.
Bakugo quickly ripped off his t-shirt and wrapped Todoroki's abdomen. "That will do for now, I hope. Now what the hell should he do!?"
Todoroki looked down, thinking for any sort of ideas.
"Should I blast his head too?" Bakugo screamed. Why was he found furious? Oh yes, because the villain had hurt his Icyhot.
"No don't do that." Todoroki whispered due to his nonstop pain.
"Then what else? Freeze him?"
"Freezing won't work. He uses his brain, that means he can still use his quirk inside an ice cube."
"Then?"
They both stood there without a word. Both thinking hard on how they could defeat the villain.
"I can... brain freeze him.." todoroki whispered slowly.
"Brain freeze him?"
"Yes, but you have to distract him for me. I haven't tried this since 4th grade so I don't know if I can clearly make it work. But I'm sure it'll keep him away from our ways for quite a bit of time." Todoroki whispered. He was surprised how the people he froze back then didn't break through the ice yet. Maybe all the training was paying off eventually.
"Okay Icyhot, here's the plan. I go first and set a few explosions in a circular way to distract him while you catch up from behind and freeze that good for nothing shit of a brain." Bakugo said while taking a step at where the villain supposingly was. "And please be careful about that big cut and come back to me in one piece, Shoto."
Todoroki smiled at the concern in the blond's voice. But what made his eyes widened was when his name came out of his mouth. Oh how it was sweet to hear. Todoroki knew it wasn't a time to feel all mushy and cozy inside, but he couldn't help it.
Bakugo got closer to the villain while setting explosions everywhere around him. He knew the villain at least feared explosions a bit by then. So he kept letting out bigger and louder explosions by every two seconds. He was tired, exhausted and had a few minor injuries around his back and legs. But he wasn't the one to give up either.
"FUCKING VILLAIN. YOU'LL PAY FOR THAT!" Bakugo yelled as he threw more explosions around the villain. He didn't need to hit him, all he needed to do was get all his attention, distract him from noticing the dual male who was now behind him. Everything was going according to plan except Bakugo was worried if Todoroki could pull it off. He then set more explosions at a particular area to catch the villain's attention.
"Hah, you can't even hit me properly." The telekinesis user said while smirking. At this point, he got the idea that the blond had gotten weak while Todoroki was too badly injured to move, just according to the duo's plan. He picked up some iron rods with his quirk and was about to throw them at the blond when suddenly he felt his whole brain stop functioning properly.
By the corner of his eyes, he saw red and white hair strands and felt two hands on the sides of his head. His hostage was brain freezing him to possible death. He wanted to move but without his brain functioning, there was no possibility of him to move. Basically, he was paralyzed. He tried to make the rods hit his hostage instead, but then he realized why he had been being brain frozen. With his brain not working, he couldn't use his telekinesis ability. Was he going to die?
Todoroki watched as the telekinesis user froze into one spot. His body was paralyzed. It had been so long he used this method. He mainly stopped using it after making someone experience almost death. It was back in elementary school when he tried this. It was a hot summer day and the kids in his class were whining about the heat. As someone who faced trauma and nightmares, todoroki didn't talk to anyone much. And that was the reason why he got bullied sometimes. Because he didn't talk much, people had thought he had an ego as he was stupidly rich. They always used to talk behind his back or even confront him face to face and beat him up for having so much 'ego'. To which, todoroki never stood against. He personally believed he was bound to be treated that way. On that summer, someone had said that Todoroki didn't have any problem with the heat because of his quirk and that he was living the best moments of his life. He tried to explain that it wasn't like that and he could make the classroom cold for them if they wanted. They refused to have the classroom frozen, but agreed that he could cool their bodies a bit. He was giving cold chills in everyone's hands or foreheads, as they pleased until some girl came to him and asked him to cool her brain. Young todoroki refused to do so, but then the girl pleaded him with puppy eyes and basically forced him to say yes. He still remembered the moment he had frozen her brain, she screamed in agony and pain and todoroki didn't know how to react, he just took his hands away from her head and felt traumatized. The teachers had come into the class when they heard the scream and the girl was taken to the hospital, fighting with death. Her family blamed Todoroki for doing this to their baby girl, but Endeavor shut them down and gave Todoroki a good lecture about how it was a dangerous task and it was called "brain freezing". Todoroki knew better than using that again until that day. All the flashbacks flooded his mind like waves. He was doing the same mistake again. But this time, for a better reason. He wasn't going to kill the person, he wasn't. And that's when it ticked him,
how long had he been freezing the villain's brain?
Todoroki's eyes widened as his body automatically jumped backwards. The villain was now on the ground, paralyzed and unconscious. Todoroki feared that he had killed him. Did he?
"Is he.. is he dead?" Todoroki asked to who knows who. He didn't expect an answer but when he heard a voice say "nah, he won't die from a brainchill", he remembered that there was another person in the room. That's right. Unlike back then, he had someone to care for him and tell him it's alright and vice versa.
Bakugo stared at the mismatched eyes which were by then, forming water drops. Was Todoroki crying? But why? It was all over, right?
"Hey." Bakugo got closer to Todoroki, it was his time to go forward and comfort him. He went closer and hugged the dual male tightly. His eyes also forming tears. "You're okay. I'm not dreaming, you're okay." He whispered.
Todoroki's blank eyes had come back to life when he saw Bakugo say those words to him. The exact same words, but just how different they sounded coming from him. He smiled whilst wrapping his arms around the blond as well. His abdomen was burning in pain, but he didn't care.
"Yes, yes I'm alright. You're alright. It's all okay. And it's finally all over."
They stayed like that for quite a long time without saying anything to each other. It was like they were communicating with their minds and they didn't need words. It was like they were one soul intertwined with each other. It was like they were in a totally different world from the existing one. A world where there were happy unicorns around a rainbow stream, beautiful fireflies flying in the air, flowers blossomed all around and them, in each other's arms without any single problem in their lives.
"You are not running away from me anymore, got it?" Bakugo whispered.
"Hmm? Why is that?" Todoroki teased.
"I thought I already made it clear before, you're mine. And I'm not allowing some shitty villain to take you away from me."
"Even if they do, I know you will always save me and vice versa, Katsuki." Todoroki said while pushing his face more inside the the crook of the other's neck.
Bakugo hummed. "You know you're stuck with me now, right Shoto?"
"Always and forever."
They both heard the beeping sound from a police car outside of the hideout. The pro heroes had arrived, possibly by tracking bakugo's location on his phone. But they refused to let go of each other. Right the, nothing else mattered to them but one another.
