I- Midnight
In the year X391 it was King Seig's fifth year of rule over Edolas. A party was being planned and invitations were being sent. One, lucky, guild was being invited.
-----------------------------
"Mail for Master Mavis!" Wailed a midnight blue messenger bird.
I looked up just in time to see my friend jump up to reach it. "Aren't you a little short to be doing that on your own?" I asked as she pouted.
"B-But it's mine." She sulked.
"Aw! C'mon I was joking!" I assured her.
"R-Really?" She asked with sparkling eyes.
"Mhm." I nodded nervously. "Now, what does Seig want with us?" I ask myself and pluck the letter out of the bird's beak.
"Dear Fairy Tail, yada yadda yadda. Birthday party/celebration blah blah blah blah." I read aloud. "Formal dress... No fighting... your king, Seig."
The guild looked at me confused after I read the letter. "We're invited to Seig's birthday party." I clarified.
Cheers erupted and beers were being served in celebration. "He said formal dress so, suits and gowns!" I warned.
They couldn't hear me over their party so I let them be. "Don't you think King Seig has been a little... nice to us since you joined the guild?" Precht asked me.
"I-It's not like that." I stated while I blushed the same shade of pink as my guild mark.
"Is Lucy falling for the king?" An already drunk Warrod slurred.
At that, my face turned completely scarlet. "Aw! Our Little LuLu-Chan is in loooove~!" Mavis squealed.
"I am not!" I yell back.
"You break my heart." I heard a familiar voice tease.
"S-Seig!" I squeak as the rest of the guild bows in his presence. I notice my mistake and started to bow.
"Rise." He ordered everyone; they did as told. "This guild is the place where I don't want to be treated like royalty, okay?"
"Fine by me." Everyone agreed and continued partying.
I sighed and pushed Warrod out of my face as he continued to tease me. "Ya wanna go, tree head?" I challenged, irritated by his constant tease.
"If you say so." He answered, suddenly sober.
"Take it outside! I don't want the guildhall destroyed again!" Mavis warned with a smile.
I nodded and swiftly walked to the door with Warrod, crowds of people followed. "Lucy, are you sure about this?" Yury asked.
"Why wouldn't I be." I smiled. "He doesn't even know my true powers anyway."
"Magic? No magic?" Warrod asked.
"None. I prefer clean fights." Seig answered for me. I sighed and nodded in agreement.
Warrod got into a fighting stance as I stayed still. He charged at me with his fist extended and I dodged. He fell to the ground, I guess he was still drunk. In five minutes he had managed to beat himself up and I, along with everyone else, headed back into the guild.
"See what I mean Yury?" I said as I sat down at the bar.
"You're pretty cocky for such a young lady." He pointed out.
"I think I'm fit for my cockiness; I did beat you up last time. Remember when you-"
"Shhh! I don't want the King to know I lost to you!" Yury hushed me.
"He doesn't care, trust me." I patted his blonde head in reassurance.
"Who doesn't care about what?" Seig asked from behind me.
I fell to the floor I surprise as Yury laughed at me. I got up and threw a beer mug at his face to shut him up and faced Seig casually. "He didn't want you to know I beat him up when I first joined the guild." I answered.
Seig chuckled and I felt a mug hit my head. I slowly turned around, grabbing forks along the way. "Yury!" I roared and began chasing him while throwing the forks at his head.
Everyone was silent, except the king. I turned to see Seig trying to hold in his laughter. "Are we really that funny?" I asked Yury.
He shrugged and looked at the king suspiciously. "S-Sorry. I've just never seen Lucy like this before." He managed to say through his laughter.
I blushed as I threw another fork in Yury's direction. "I wonder, what were you trying to do with the forks?" Mavis asked.
"Hit his skull." I answered innocently.
"Eh... okay..." She said awkwardly.
"Oh! I forgot I came here to ask a question." Seig said aloud.
"What do you need?" Mavis asked sweetly.
"Could I borrow Lucy for the night?" He asked.
Mavis began to smile creepily as she nodded. "Wha-"
"Then, we'll be off!" He smiled and grabbed my hand.
We ran outside and were greeted by his servants. "Are you ready to go, Your Majesty?"
"Yup!" He said excitedly. I blushed as we were ushered into his carriage.
Once inside, we chatted about random things. "How are the Knightwalkers?" I asked.
"Strong as ever. They still give me the chills." He answered. I laughed as agreed with his statement. The Knightwalkers were a family of warriors and proved so every year.
What seemed like a few minutes later, we arrive at the Royal City. It had been a while since I had visited. Only twice had I been here, upon Seig's request.
The door to the carriage was opened and I helped outside. "Stay close to me." Seig said and intertwined our arms. I blushed at his touch and we walked to the palace.
As we walked, everyone bowed. It felt quite creepy, but Seig didn't seem to mind. "Why am I here, anyway?" I asked.
"Can't I have a friend help me with preparing my party?" He pouted.
"O-Of corse not. But, why me?"
"You're my special friend." He said with a smile.
I blushed an even deeper red, if that was possible, and we entered the palace. It was already around dinner and I was getting suspicious.
It's not like I was expecting Seig to do anything to me, but, in reality, he could get whatever he wanted. If he wanted me, I would be given up by whomever had a say in it. It was quite intimidating at times like now.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Dragons." I blurted out.
"Mythical beings?" He was getting suspicious...
"I don't find them to be mythical; they are if you choose them to be, though." I expressed my thoughts.
"Well, I did think celestial wizards were myths until I stumbled upon you. I guess you're right." He smiled.
Our arms were still intertwined, but I wasn't aware of it as much. "Might I ask where we are headed?"
"A special room for my special friend." He answered.
"W-What's that supposed to mean?" I asked nervously.
"It's a special room just for my ever so special friend and me." He smirked.
I was blushing so much I bet steam was escaping my ears. We finally reached a door made of stone. There were inscriptions on the stone that were written in dragon script. "What is... this?" I asked, tracing the letters with my fingers.
"A project the kingdom and I are working on." He said with a malicious smirk.
I watched as Seig opened it with the flick of his wrist. Inside it looked lie a construction zone. "It's obviously not finished, but it will be in a few generations." Seig said as he kicked around pebbles.
"Generations?" I asked, completely confused.
"Mhm. I will share these plans with my family, and the information that goes along with it."
"What are you getting at?!" I demand.
"Lucy, Lucy, Lucy. Too strong for your own good. You are the one who is taking the magic from this kingdom, and I refuse to let that happen! My special friend, you were dear to me once, but no more than that. Tonight, you will be gone, banished from this world and you will watch as you destroy Earthland; our source of limitless magic." Seig spoke with fury.
"I haven't done anything! I-I haven't!" I yelled.
"Oh, but you have. The exceeds have more magical energy than me. What scum." He spat. "I plan to change that. With you gone, our power will be restored and without limitation! What a splendid world this will be! Although, you won't be able to see it."
"Earthland?! You would never! Y-You are supposed to be the one I love, not a-a monster..." I started to tear up.
"Monster?" He cackled. "I am anything but a monster. You are not a being capable of love; don't utter that nonsense again! The moment midnight is here you will be forced into Anima and never come here again! That is the fate of a creature like you."
"I don't want to leave! I want to stay with my friends, my guild, my family!" I sobbed.
"The word of the King is final, Lucy. You are no longer an Ashley you are a Heartfilia, being sent to hell!" Seig announced.
I tried to use my magic, but it wouldn't happen. Nothing would come. "Your attempts are futile, as are your pleads." He said and walked towards the stone door.
I wiped away my tears and stood up. "Who says I need magic?" I barked and launch myself at him.
"You should know your place!" Seig yelled and used his air magic to force me back.
"Clean fights, huh?" I smirked. "You only fight dirty, Hart." He must have made himself the exception to some kind of runes.
"As if the likes of you would know, criminal." He scoffed.
"The Ashleys never liked laws." I said as the corners of my mouth quirked up into a grin.
"No wonder you would have been the destruction of Edolas." He teased.
At that my anger had risen to full. "Say that again, you blue bastard."
"Is this the Sun's Rage? I've heard many of the other guilds report this. Interesting, Heartfilia."
"I am not a Heartfilia. I am a mage from Edolas. I am Lucy Ashley; the kingdom's new enemy." I stated with confidence.
"You were an enemy when you were born!" Seig yelled and sent his fire at me.
"Gonna use all the elements? How is this a fair fight?" I asked as I got up again. My skirt was singed, along with my hair and other clothing.
"Fighting an enemy doesn't have to be fair." He sent rocks flying at me.
I dodged them and charged, once more, in his direction. As I was about to hit his stupid little face, bells chimed.
"Looks like your time's up. Farewell." Seig said as golden light surrounded me.
I screamed as I felt his fire burned me. This wasn't his ordinary fire. "To make sure you watch as you completely destroy Earthland, you'll live for as long as it does."
"You bastard!" Was the last thing I ever said to the king of Edolas, Seig Hart.
