A long time ago...

It has been fifteen years since the Battle of Endor.

Fifteen years that the First Order had started to rise from its ashes.

That's where our story starts off. In the middle of the galaxy on a planet called Ilum.

This was a snow-covered planet located in the 7G sector of the Unknown Regions, within the Ilum system. It was the fifth planet from its parent star Asar, a blue dwarf, located roughly equidistant from Asar and the system's cometary cloud.

One of the few planets that the First Order have decided to use as their base of operations. The reason for this was that Ilum had a kyber crystalline core to turn it into a system-destroying that was the culmination of the Empire's research into dark energy translations and hyperspace tunneling.

As of now, they were still working on the weapon, but nobody knows what they were working on for sure. The other people on board the planet were mostly Stormtroopers to stop spies from learning what was going on or to stop others from learning the secret or scientists working on experiments.

The experiments? There is such a variety to choose from. They are either designing weapons that are designed to fight off the Resistance from a laser battering ram being developed, all the way to the strangest of them all: Personal cloning.

This science was impossible. Inhuman. Yet when scientists Richard and Mary Parker, recently turned parents, were approached by an old family friend, Miles Warren, they were pulled into the First Order.

They weren't the kind of people who would get involved in politics, but when it came to scientific advancement, they didn't care where they were doing it.

Besides, from the stories they've been told, they knew the alternative was either one of them being shot, both of them being tortured, or their son being tortured.

Their son. Their pride and joy. Out of all of their accomplishments over the years, they saw that Peter was the greatest out of them all. With the hair of his father, eyes like his mother, and a love of science like his parents. Coming up to five, with the same amount of time within the First Order, they were brought in for testing on gene splicing.

The First Order believes they need stronger soldiers to fight against the Resistance. So that means they need something stronger than soldiers. Imagine a soldier with the fighting skill of a Tusken. A soldier with the strength of a Rancor. The power of a Ysalamiri. The possibilities would be endless when this technology was unlocked.

But as with all science, it needed to start with small experiments before growing bigger.

So, they decided to start by trying to pass on the genetic traits from arachnids. They weren't the most desired traits out there, but Richard assured Captain Phasma that they would get results soon.

Yet when they moved to test it on people, the results were...undesirable.

The results of the testing of gene splicing with arachnids resulted in the most horrid of fates. Soldiers ended up with a million eyes before dying of radiation. Some would grow arms through their armor at a moment's notice, followed by death. Some even grew a mouth of a spider, before ending a horrid death.

Yeah, you could easily see the pattern going on here.

Richard Parker was still in his workspace, which was attached to his living quarters, with his wife and son in the next room. At least that's where they should be. Phasma has pulled his wife and partner in life and the labs, Mary aside to threaten her that if there are no results soon, then they might not like what may come.

"What am I missing?" Richard asked himself as he looked over the hologram of his work. "What isn't working?"

But then an idea came to his mind, something that he hadn't tried yet before. Maybe what made these tests fail was that they didn't have a clear gene genetic to lock onto.

"This is something worth looking into," Richard said and immediately started to work on it. "When Mary gets back, I need to tell her."

And for the next half hour, he got to work siphoning and merging his DNA into the spiders. Seeing what kind of result this would lead to. The only problem was that it would require someone with his DNA.

Who better subject than himself?

As he poured himself a vial of the serum to give him the abilities, the door opened. The sudden action caused him to drop the sample, as well as a canister containing a spider.

"Gah!" Richard cried in agony, thinking that this was the answer. Then he turned back to the door and saw the stormtrooper. "Does it kill you people to knock?"

The Stormtrooper didn't answer as he just grabbed a certain someone by the collar of their shirt and tossed them inside. The boy was no other than his son, Peter Parker. Wearing a raggy old grey shirt, and beaten-up black pants. Sadly, that was all that the First Order had that would fit a child.

Phasma, the Stormtrooper Captain, seemed agitated by what he had to do. But it was hard to see with all of the masks they all were. It was barely even able to figure out them all apart from one another.

"Keep that womp rat of yours out of sight," Phasma warns him before pushing the boy inside the room. "We found him sneaking his way through the air filtration system. Again."

"I'll remember that," Richard called out, hating how his son was treated on this station. Yet again, it was better than him being trained and turned into a Stormtrooper. He sighed as he walked over and helped Peter stand up and placed him on the table. "What did you do this time?"

"Just sneaked into the vents and fell into the armory," Peter admitted with a sad look. "I'm sorry."

Richard rolled his eyes but knew he could never be sad at his son. He had an adventurous spirit like he and his mother had. Needing to explore every inch of everything they came into contact with.

"I'm not upset. Just worried. These guys don't like the idea of you being around." Richard explains to his son. He then reached and moved some hair out of his face. "You just need to stay safe."

"I know." Peter sighed, wincing when Richard touched a burn on his arm. "Ow."

"Oh, looks like he left a mark," Richard said, seeing that needs to be worked on. "Hang here, I'll get you some ice."

Peter nodded, let his father leave to the living quarters, and left him on the table. As he sat there, he missed the spider crawling up his leg. The same spider that Richard had just given his DNA. It crawled up Peter's pants, making its way up his shirt.

By the time Richard had gotten back with some ice, the spider reached Peter's neck and bit down on it. Peter winced in pain as he reached back to where it came from.

Richard jumped at the creature in his son's hand and ran over to his side. Just as he did, Peter started to feel lightheaded and fall over.

"No, no, no!" Richard started to panic, wondering what was going to happen. "Peter! Stay with me."

Peter heard his father's words, but as hard as he tried, he couldn't stay awake. He just ended up slowly drifting off, heating his father's cry in fear, as well as his mother entering to hear the cries.

"It's impossible."

"Nobody's managed to survive the process."

"You are not taking him."

That's what Peter started to hear when he reopened his eyes. He found himself in the medical wing of the station, with his parents on one side of his bed, and General Canady on the other end. They were talking about something that Peter couldn't being to understand, but what they were saying was clear.

They wanted him to be put into training.

"He is not one of your troopers," Richard said as he placed a hand on his son's chest. "He is our son."

"As long as you're here, you are ordered to do as we demand." Canady reminded them. "Get him well, then get him ready. We'll have him transported when he is well."

Then he just left the room, leaving the family to cope with what they have just been told. Thanks to their experiments working, their son was going to be taken away from them.

Turned into a weapon to go against the Resistance.

Richard walked over and watched the commander leave them, Mary now taking his place and holding her son. He looked over at the two and thought about what their options were.

Let their son become a weapon. Let him turn into something deadly and dangerous.

They were making weapons out of adults, not children. They never signed up for that. They barely signed up, to begin with.

This was the last straw.

Peter was going to be out for a while, so he had time. Time to do the unthinkable.

At least to him.

Betray the First Order.

Far across the galaxy, on the planet Raysho in the Hosnian Cataclysm, General Leia Organa was talking about the funding to fight back the First Order with her Resistance. But the talk was interrupted when C-3P0 approached her with urgent news.

"Pardon me, but I have an urgent message for you, General Leia," C-3P0 informed her.

"Excuse me," Leia tells the people and walked off to take the message.

The droid with the message was a newer droid known as BB-8. Since her brother left to recreate the Jedi order, he also took the droid R2-D2 with him. He was technically Luke's since he bought the droid on Tatooine to be fair.

This model of an astromech droid, manufactured by Industrial Automaton and active during the era of the Cold War, featured a spherical body that allowed the droid to roll in any direction, with a head usually atop the body but not meant to be permanently physically attached to it.

"Who is it?" Leia asked the droids.

"It appears to be someone named Richard Parker," C-3P0 informed her.

Leia had never heard of the man so decided to see what he had to say. "Put him on."

BB-8 then cast a projection of the man, who looked at the woman. "This is Richard Parker, a scientist within the First Order. And I'm begging for assistance."

"Assistance?" Leia asked, not sure she was following. "Who are you?"

"I am a research scientist." Richard did his best to explain as fast as he could."The First Order has forced me and my wife to do experiments. Genetic testing, cloning, things like that."

"And what do you require assistance in?" Leia wonders.

"My son," Richard said, trying to get her to understand. "He was accidentally exposed to the tests. They plan to make him a weapon. And this weapon could change the course of the war."

"And what are you asking for?" Leia asks him.

"Freedom," Richard tells her. "Freedom from the First Order. And to be hidden somewhere safe. That's all we want. And in return...we are willing to share secrets. Weapons. Outposts. If you know where they are, you can strike them."

Leia saw that information could be useful and helpful. Not to mention in helping them, she could get a child out of their hands, and remove a potentially dangerous weapon.

"Stand by, Richard Parker. We'll get back to you soon with an answer." Leia promised.

"Thank you." Richard sighed in relief as the two hung up.

Leia took the information that was given to her through Richard to the rest of the Resistance. They were wondering if the chance to get him and his family out of the hands of the First Order. It took a few days of deciding, with the people in charge deciding if they should or not.

At the end of the day, they decided that they can't let this family, who already risked so much trying to get into contact with them, or an innocent child become a weapon. They needed to get them out of there while they had a chance of successfully pulling off a rescue.

Leia knew that if this were her own son, she would risk everything to help him. She even did. She sent her son Ben off to train under the wing of her brother, so he didn't fall under the path of the dark side. But if a child with split genetics were trained as an attack dog for the First Order, the war could easily change in a moment.

They needed to rescue this family.

Rescue their son.

When Richard got the response that he was praying for, he was happy to have the chance to save his family. But it seems that getting the message to them was the easy part as the hard part was getting outside. They needed to meet up with the Resistance out in the cold where they were supposed to be ready with a ship to help them escape.

Luckily, they knew someone from the inside with them who despised the First Order as much as them.

Miles Warren met them in the dead of night while the base was on low patrol. He sneaked his way through, trying to act as calmly as possible. Once he reached their labs, he made his way inside and saw they were packed and ready to go.

"Did you get what we need?" Richard asked him, Mary was getting Peter into heavy winter wear to help him survive the temperature.

Miles pulled out a few blasters that he managed to sneak out with him. "I hope we don't need to use them."

"You and me both." Richard sighed as they took a pistol each, handing one to Mary. "You have the keycard?"

Miles handed them his ID card since he was the only one with access to get out of the building. "I filed it lost the other day."

"Great." Richard sighed in relief. "Let's get the heck out of here."

A squadron of Stormtroopers marched down a hallway, missing the three family members hiding behind the crates. Seems one of the few abilities that Peter has been given was the power to sense people coming at them. They theorized there was a chance that they might've accidentally given Peter a connection to the Force. Sadly, this might make him more valuable to the people who were at the top of the ladder. Even they didn't know who was in control of the First Order. But they had a thing for going after Force-sensitive kids.

As the squadron of Stormtroopers left them, Miles walked ahead of them, taking out the ID card. Once he reached the exit for the forest, he opened the doorway and waved them to come over.

"Come on," Miles said, getting them to run over and make their way out. "I've shut down the alarms, so you have a head start. I also scrambled their radar, so your ride should get here undetected."

"Thanks, Miles," Richard said as he patted his friend on the shoulder. "I know you risked a lot doing this."

"You just get your son out of here and try to stay out of their sight. And find a secure way to contact me when you get the chance," Warren tells him as Mary and Peter were running off into the forest. Richard was about to follow when Miles stopped him, feeling this isn't going to work. "Wait." He then held up his blaster and handed it to Richard. "Shoot me in the arm. They'll think you took me, hostage."

Richard saw that was a viable reason and look around. Holding up his blaster, he shot Miles in the leg, feeling that will make this more believable.

"Sorry." Richard apologizes to him.

"Don't be. Just go." Warren tells his friend. "And may the Force be with you."

"Always," Richard replied as he ran, closing the doors on his way out.

Knowing it'll buy them a few extra minutes; he also turned back and shot the controls to the door. Luckily that doesn't automatically open the doors. He's heard how that has happened in the past before.

Richard runs to his family as they made their way through the forest. They started to make their way into the forest, giving them plenty of cover from the Stormtroopers. Not to mention the fact that the snow would cover their vision to make it impossible for them to aim.

When they made it into the clearing, they looked to see one ship that was coming in and landing in the clearing. It was an Intersystem Transport Ship that opened up at their notice of them and several came out, aiming out to the clearing to look for Troopers.

As they did that, the family shielded their son when Leia herself stepped out of the ship and walked toward them. "Richard Parker, I presume."

"General." Richard greeted her.

"Sorry for the precaution," Leia said as she gestured to their surroundings of troops. "Just making sure this wasn't a trap."

"Trust me. I understand." Richard admitted with a sigh. "I can barely stomach this."

Leia nodded as one of her men quickly searched through their belongings for any trackers or beacons. When they didn't find anything, they allowed them to board just as the alarms rebooted and alerted them. Working fast, the group got onto the transport.

As they started to leave the atmosphere of Illum, they jumped into hyperspace and escaped. Being able to relax, seeing as they were now safe, Richard and Mary discussed where they were going with Leia.

Peter on the other hand started to wander around the small transport and bumped into someone. Looking down, he saw he accidentally kicked BB-8, sending him rolling away due to his strength. The droid then frantically beeped at him for that as he rolled over and bumped into his leg.

"Sorry." Peter apologized as he kneed down to the droid. "Are you okay?"

The droid beeped in response, which luckily Peter could understand.

"I just didn't see you there, I'm sorry." Peter apologizes again. "What's your name?"

BB-8 then introduced himself to the young boy.

"BB-8?" Peter repeated, looking at his coloring. "I like your colors. White and orange." He said as he looked over the features that he has on him. "Wow, you're amazing."

"We're going to take you to a planet far from the First Order," Leia promised the Parkers, handing them a small device. "But if you ever need us again...if they find you, let us know. We'll be there."

"Thank you, General," Mary said, happy for them to finally be free.

Richard nodded, taking the device and looking at Peter. "Seems someone made a friend."

Mary chuckled at the sight. "Peter has always had a magnetic personality."

"Yeah, but that's what usually got him into trouble," Richard replied with a smile. He then pulled his wife in close as Leia left them alone. "We're free."

"Let's just hope this is the last surprise for us," Mary begged the universe.

Peter then felt something tingle through his whole body, feeling like something was calling him. Looking out to the corners of the ship, he wondered what that is out there calling him.

But then he heard it. Like a spider crawling up his back, he felt the shiver of the call. It sounded like something old.

Something familiar.

Something dangerous.

"HahahahahahahahahAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
