Let's start this story of Shinobi and Oni, Makamou and Yōma, and scrolls and music by seeing just what horrors lurk within the rural areas of Tokyo. However what would happen if these monsters decided to get bolder with their tactics?

It was night time in the city of Tokyo, Japan most people were either heading home from a long day at work, at home eating dinner with their families, or simply enjoying the night life. In one such case there was a group of three people walking out of a locale bar. Two of the people in this group were female, while the third member was male. One of the women and the man were wearing similar outfits, these outfits being a pair of matching yellow coats with a spiderweb design going across the entire thing. The other woman was dressed in an office suit, from her face she looked slightly intoxicated. "Are you two sure it's okay if I stay the night at your house?" The office lady asked, slurring her words before letting out a small hiccup. The couple looked at her, friendly smiles spreading across their faces.

            "Of course, we can't in good conscience let a young lady such as yourself walk home drunk." The man said in a concerned tone as he gently took the drunk office lady's hand. The drunk office lady smiled as she batted her eyelashes at the man in a flirtatious manner. "Such a gentleman! You better be careful miss, or someone my just steal your husband from you!" The drunk office lady said before letting out another hiccup and stumbled slightly, but was kept on her feet by the man's grip. The wife let out a gentle giggle at the drunk office lady's words. "I don't have to worry about those things, our son keeps him plenty busy!" The wife said as she leaned her head on her husband's shoulder. The drunk office lady blinked a few times in surprise, processing that piece of information.

"Married with kids? Dammit everyone is settling down before me!" The drunk office lady whined in sadness as the married couple shared a friendly laugh at her expense. "Speaking of darling, our son is probably hungry at home. We really lost track of time tonight." The husband said in both a thoughtful and concerned tone for his child's well-being. The wife nodded before she walked onto the other side of the drunk office lady before taking her free hand. "Sorry to rush you while you're out of sorts, but our son can get really fussy when he's hungry." The wife said in an apologetic tone to the drunken woman they had invited to spend the night at their home. The drunk office lady lulled her head to look over at the wife, an intoxicated smile.

"It's fine! Let's hurry up before your kid starts throwing a temper tantrum!" The drunk office lady said with a giggle as the married couple looked at one another, exchanging smiles of a more sinister nature. The husband and wife each draped one of the drunk office lady's arm over their shoulders before starting to walk with more speed. "Don't worry, even while carrying you it should only take use twenty minutes to get to our home." The husband explained as he and his wife continued to quicken their pace, the drunk office lady's feet dragging across the ground slightly. "Sounds great! Sooner we get there, the sooner I can sleep this hangover off!" The drunk office lady said with another giggle before the husband and wife continued to carry the woman back to their home.

20 Minutes Later
After twenty minutes of walking, the husband and wife had dragged the drunk office lady to an abandoned train tunnel. The married couple dragged the drunk office lady into the tunnel before roughly tossing her to the ground. "Hey! What was that for?!" The drunken office lady whined as she gently rubbed her head in a mixture of confusion and anger. The husband and wife then let those sinister smiles return to their faces. "Apologies, but our son is starving and you were a perfect meal for him." The wife said, her voice distorting slightly, sounding less and less human with each word. The drunken office lady looked at the two in confusion as even in her intoxicated state she could tell the mood had taken a severe turn all of a sudden.

"W-What do you mean?" The drunken office lady spluttered out nervously as she started to sober up slightly. The husband and wife's bodies began to contort and shapeshift. The two humans were replaced by two humanoid spider monsters, both having a yellow pattern on their bodies.

"W-What the hell are you freaks?!" The office lady cried in fear as she backed up against the wall of the abandoned subway tunnel. Kaidouji and Youhime stalked towards the woman, their sickle arms ready. "Isn't obvious foolish human woman? We brought you here to feed to our son!" Youhime snarled as she stabbed her sickle arm into the wall next to the office lady's head. The office lady was shaking in complete fear, these monsters intended on feeding her to their child? Kaidouji was ready to grab the woman by her neck, but a green light began to shine from the entrance to the abandoned tunnel.

           Kaidouji and Youhime turned to look towards the light, only to see to green fires burning on the end of two sticks. The figure holding the sticks had a woodland brown body, a thong secured around his waist by a belt with a buckle that looked like a taiko drum face. On the creature's head were two green horns, positioned on its forehead was a small golden Oni head. Held in each of its hands was Tsuki drumstick with green fire burning on the end of each one.

"An Oni, how did it find us?!" Kaidouji snarled as he turned to give the Oni his full attention. The Oni twirled his drumsticks, named the Rokushou, putting out the fires on the sticks. "Makamou, heed my words! You face judgement by the Oni, Eiki of the Percussion Clan!" Eiki announced himself as he raised his Rokushou in front of him, ready to fight. Kaidouji and Youhime snarled at Eiki before lunging at him. Kaidouji and Youhime raised their sickle arms above their heads before swinging them down towards Eiki. The Oni raised both his Rokushou, blocking the sickle arms.

         Eiki quickly swung his right leg, kicking Youhime in the right side of her ribcage, causing her to stumble backwards. Eiki then struck Kaidouji across the head with his free Rokushou, disorienting the Makamou. Eiki raised both his Rokushou before striking Kaidouji in the chest with them four times rhythmically as if playing a drum. Kaidouji was sent flying backwards before roughly crashing into the ground. "How would the Oni have figured out we moved closer to the city?" Youhime asked as she ran over to Kaidouji before helping back onto his feet. Both parents turned to face Eiki, who twirled both his Rokushou before sinking back into a fighting stance. "As Oni it is our responsibility to patrol every inch of our territory, the city is no exception." Eiki stated simply before lunging at the duo.

             Eiki leaped into the air, both Rokushou raised above his head. Eiki struck both Makamou on top of the head with his Rokushou as he landed in front of them. Eiki twirled around before striking both Kaidouji and Youhime in the torso with his drumsticks before roundhouse kicking both of them in the head. Kaidouji and Youhime stumbled backwards from the onslaught, but quickly recovered before lunging towards Eiki. Kaidouji and Youhime both slashed Eiki across the chest with their sickle arms before reeling back their fists. Both Makamou punched the Oni in the chest, which they both swiftly followed up with a kick to the chest. Eiki was sent flying backwards before roughly crashing to the ground, his Rokushou clattering to the ground next to him.

             A loud scuttling sound could be heard as something from deeper within the abandoned subway could be heard. "It appears your foolishness has woken our son up from his sleep." Kaidouji snarled in a sinister tone as the scuttling noise got closer. Coming into view was a spider with a tiger stripe pattern on its body. That however wasn't the strange thing about it, it was its size. The spider barely fit in the subway tunnel, nearly scraping against the ceiling of the tunnel.

"A Tsuchigumo? I should've figured as much." Eiki groaned as he got back on his feet and picked up his Rokushou. Eiki lunged towards Kaidouji and Youhime with his drumsticks at the ready. Eiki swung both Rokushou at Kaidouji and Youhime, however the two Makamou caught the drumsticks with their hands before they simultaneously slashed Eiki across the chest, causing him to stumble back in pain. The Tsuchigumo then thrust one of its legs at Eiki, striking him across the chest, sending him sprawling across the ground.

"Our child is growing impatient with hunger. Do not fret however, once he is done devouring this woman, you will be his next meal Oni!" Youhime said in a sadistic tone as the Tsuchigumo lowered its head towards the office lady who had fainted from fear at everything that unfolded before her. However before the Tsuchigumo could devour the office lady, three bullets made of air struck the creature in the side of the head, causing it to scuttle backwards while screeching in pain. Eiki shakily stood up before looking behind him, standing in the entranceway to the abandoned subway tunnel was another Oni. This one blue in color with gold tubes adorning his chest, held in in his right hand was a strange looking firearm.

"Ibuki! You arrived just in time!" Eiki said with relief evident in his voice as the blue Oni walked up to him. "Well done in preventing them from feeding this woman to their child, Eiki." Ibuki said as he gently rested his left hand on his fellow Oni's shoulder. Kaidouji and Youhime glared at Ibuki as a second Oni made things incredibly difficult for them. "You think numbers mean anything? You only make feeding our child easier!" Youhime snarled before she lunged at the two Oni. A green figure leaps over the two Oni's heads before slashing Youhime across the chest, sending her flying backwards before crashing into the ground. The green figure was in fact another Oni, this one green in color with red strings going across his chest. Clutched in his hand was a strange weapon that looked like a combination of a sword and spear.

"Todoroki! You are here as well?" Eiki said slightly surprised at the other Oni's sudden appearance. Todoroki stood up before resting his weapon, Retsurai across his shoulders. "Come on Eiki! Us Oni stick together! These monsters are giving you a hard time, how could I not come running fast as lightning?" Todoroki said in a time that made his actions seem obvious. Eiki felt a wave of relief wash over him, it was good to know he had comrades he could rely on. Todoroki then walks over so he's standing on the other side of Ibuki. "Hey Ibuki, how about we take care of mom and dad so Eiki can get his first proper fight against a Makamou?" Todoroki suggested as he waited for the blue Oni to respond. Ibuki took a moment to consider the suggestion before nodding his head.

"A fine plan indeed, Eiki take care of the Tsuchigumo, Todoroki and I will handle the parents." Ibuki instructed as Eiki nodded before charging towards Tsuchigumo. Kaidouji and Youhime attempted to block his path, but were swiftly shot in the chest by Ibuki, allowing the brown Oni to safely run past them. "Sorry, but your opponents are us!" Todoroki said as he readied Retsurai while Ibuki once again took aim with his weapon, Reppu. Kaidouji and Youhime snarled as they both readied their sickle arms form combat. "If you Oni are so eager to die, then so be it!" Kaidouji shouted before both he and Youhime charged towards the two Oni. Ibuki and Todoroki readied their weapons before charging towards the two Makamou.

Ibuki lunged at Kaidouji, who swung his sickle arm at the Oni, Ibuki caught the arm with his left hand before aiming Reppu at Kaidouji's chest. Ibuki fired three Air Bullets into the monster's chest, causing Kaidouji to stumble backwards. Wind began to gather around Ibuki's right leg before leaped into the air and twirled around. Ibuki delivered a wind powered kick to Kaidouji's head, causing the monster to stumble backwards. When Ibuki landed, he reeled back his right fist before delivering a powerful punch to Kaidouji's gut. Kaidouji snarled in pain before once again lunging at Ibuki. The wind Oni once again took aim with Reppu before unleashing three more Air Bullets into Kaidouji's chest, sending the monster sprawling across the ground.

Todoroki dodged a swipe of Youhime's sickle arm before slashing her across the chest with Retsurai. Youhime stumbled backwards from the slash as Todoroki stabbed Retsurai into the ground before lunging towards her, the green Oni grabbed her sickle arm, restraining it. Todoroki unleashed three vicious kicks into the left side of Youhime's ribcage before reeling back his left fist. Todoroki's left fist crackled with electricity before he punched the monster square in the face, sending her sprawling across the ground. Youhime shakily stood back up before letting out an enraged hiss before lunging at Todoroki. Todoroki backflipped, landing behind Retsurai before pulling it out of the ground and dashing forward. Todoroki dropped to his knees, sliding underneath Youhime's sickle arm while slashing her across the chest with Retsurai.

        Kaidouji helped Youhime to her feet before they both glared at the Oni duo, letting out enraged snarls. The husband and wife charged at the two Oni. "Shall we combined our solo performances into a duet?" Ibuki said as he took aim with Reppu. "I thought you would never ask!" Todoroki replied as he readied Retsurai. Ibuki fired three Air Bullets into Kaidouji's chest before switching targets and firing another three Air Bullets into Youhime's chest. Both Makamou stumbled, disoriented from the Air Bullets as Todoroki charged towards them. Electricity charged Retsurai's blade before Todoroki delivered a sweeping slash that sliced both Kaidouji and Youhime across the chest, causing them to explode into leaves. Ibuki and Todoroki both relaxed slightly, their part of the fight was over.

With Eiki
Eiki stood face to face with the giant spider monster that was Tsuchigumo as the spider attempted to skewer the Oni by thrusting its legs at Eiki. Eiki dodged and weaved past the legs as he began to concentrated. "Haaaaaa!" Eiki let out a breath that sounded rather harmonious as the tips of his Rokushou ignited with green fire. Eiki readied both drumsticks in front of him as if he were about to start drumming. Eiki swung the Rokushou in a rhythmic pattern. The drumsticks generated green fireballs that flew towards Tsuchigumo's face, the fireballs impacting the monster's eyes. Tsuchigumo let out a screech of pain as it scuttled backwards from the pain of the scorching fire. Eiki to this opportunity to lunges forward and leap into the air, both Rokushou raised above his head.

           Eiki brought both his drumsticks down on Tsuchigumo's head, the force of the attack causing the spider's legs to buckle, sending its body crashing to the ground. Eiki landed on Tsuchigumo's back as he removed the Ongekiko Hakuryoku from his belt.

Eiki placed it on Tsuchigumo's back as it expanded into a giant taiko drum face. Eiki readied his Rokushou as he took a deep breath to calm himself. "Ongekida Hissatsuhitchu no Kata!" Eiki shouted before he began beating the drum with his drumsticks, a pure and beautiful drum beat resonated throughout the subway tunnel as green sound waves rippled from the drum and into Tsuchigumo's body, causing it to screech in pain. Eiki raised both Rokushou above his head before bringing them both down on the drum simultaneously. This sent a large ripple of sound through Tsuchigumo's body, causing it to explode into leaves. Eiki safely landed on the ground as the Ongekiko Hakuryoku flew back to him. Eiki placed the Ongekiko Hakuryoku back onto his belt before twirling his drumsticks before holstering them on the back of his waist.

           "Eiki! You did it! You finally took down your first Makamou!" Todoroki cheered in celebration as he ran up to the Percussion Oni before getting him into a friendly headlock. Ibuki walked up to the duo calmly, his Reppu now holstered on his right hip. "Well done, may it be the first of many victories for you Eiki." Ibuki said as he gently patted Eiki on the shoulder. Eiki fidgeted around nervously, he wasn't used to getting this much praise. "I didn't do much, you two handled the parents, giving me the opening I needed." Eiki said trying to deflect any real accomplishment on his part. Todoroki released him from the headlock before backing up to look him over. Ibuki also looked his fellow Oni over, a tab bit surprised by his words.

"Come on, don't sell yourself short! Oni are strongest when we're together, so don't think needing help makes you weak!" Todoroki said in a supportive tone as he patted Eiki on the back. Eiki hesitated for a moment before nodding his head in agreement. Ibuki walked over to the collapsed office lady before gently scooping her up into his arms before carrying her out of the tunnel and gently sitting her up against the side of the tunnel. Ibuki then quickly returned to the tunnel to reconvene with Todoroki and Eiki. "Now, at most it should take half an hour for someone to find her, we should all return to our respective sections of Tokyo." Ibuki suggested as Eiki nodded his head in agreement. However Todoroki grabbed Ibuki's arm to stop him from leaving.

           "Hold on Ibuki, what are we going to do about this? Makamou have never come this close to the city before. Shouldn't we start investigating what's caused them to move this close to civilization?" Todoroki said with concern evident in his tone. Ibuki and Eiki stopped before looking at one another before looking at Todoroki, taking his words into consideration. "Todoroki makes a fair point, Ibuki. A Makamou family have never at any point in history settled this close to a major human settlement." Eiki chimed in as he agreed with the String Oni. Ibuki rubbed his chin in thought, it was certainly a cause for concern. "It is discomforting to think that a family unit was able to move this close to the city under our noses." Ibuki admitted as the potential dangers of the Makamou becoming bold enough to come this close to the city.

"Perhaps we should begin patrolling our sectors of Tokyo more frequently? See if we find any strange happenings or movements?" Eiki suggested as a form of counter to this potential threat. Ibuki and Todoroki both thought about the young Oni's suggestion. "That is all we can do for the time being. All of us should return to our respective homes for the time being." Ibuki said as Eiki nodded his head in agreement. Todoroki rested Retsurai across his shoulders as he let out a groan of frustration. "Back to that damned school with me." Todoroki whined as Ibuki rested his hand on his fellow Oni's shoulder in support. Eiki gave Todoroki a pat on the back before the trio of Oni exited the tunnel and went their separate ways into the night. Come morning, the populous would be none the wiser to the battle that occurred in the abandoned subway tunnel.

So the Oni trio rescued a drunken office lady who was lured to the home of a Makamou family. However this particular family was abnormally close to the city instead of their usual homes in Tokyo's rural lands. Now the trio have agreed to begin investigating their respective parts of Tokyo for any potential clues to this odd occurrence. As always please leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments!
