Keeping Around
I woke up before the sun rise this morning. Not unusual for me on a night where I've stayed up late. Late to bed yet early to rise, ironic really. I stretched upwards, trying to loosen my muscles before heading into the living room. The rabbit was still sound asleep, curled up in the blanket in the corner of the sofa. It's ear flinched as I brushed my fingertips across its head. "Kuku," I dare say, the rabbit is rather cute. It started to slowly wake up, leaning into my fingers to show it was fully awake. It's strange, in a way, it almost has human tendencies.
I was careful as i moved the blanket, getting a better look at the bandages, luckily no fresh blood, meaning the bleeding has most likely stopped. I was relieved because this means I might not need to take it to the vets immediately. I should be able to wait until the weekend. I raised a brow, white fur that is almost immaculate apart from a small dot on its ear. Curious, I leant forward, it was almost like a piercing just on its ear. Doesn't look infected just looks like a hole you would place an earing in.
"You keep showing up with more surprises, huh?" I laughed, the rabbit tilting it's head in confusion. "At least if someone has lost you, i have an identifiable mark to check against. Be nice to give you a name at some point."
I pulled my hand back, yawning and stretching my other arm. I'm up, might as well head to the school lab early. I went to the kitchen, grabbing something from lunch, placing it on the side and getting a couple of bowls ready for some food and water for my guest.
Before running off to school, i made sure the rabbit was set up comfortable on the living room floor, doing a make shift litter box with some old newspapers (I surely hope it is house trained) and leaving it water and some spare salad. I also took a couple of photos, should anyone at school mention losing a rabbit.

Lunch time came quickly and the sun scorching through the windows of the lab. Damn, I hope i left enough water for the rabbit. "Hey Senku," I cringed hearing Taiju declare his arrival.
I sighed, looking to the entrance and seeing Yuzuriha with a sweet, yet awkward, looking smile. "Here I was hoping for a quiet lunch," I laughed. "I was ten billion percent incorrect at that thought."
Yuzuriha laughed, pushing passed Taiju and holding up a tote bag to me. "I brought that blanket you texted for last night," She explained as I took the bag, inspecting the contents. "But, why do you want a blanket like this?"
I smirked, pulling out my phone and showing off a picture of the rabbit. Typical Yuzuriha awed at the sight. "This one was being picked on last night, i took it home and bandaged it up," I explained. "I've called up the shelter and no one has reported a rabbit going missing."
"So, you're adopting a rabbit all of a sudden?" Taiju asked confused.
"It's not that simple is it?" Yuzuriha questioned. "I mean, you don't want to get attached then have to give it up."
"My old man will probably be thrilled I've taken interest in getting a pet," I laughed, putting my phone away. "I'm sure Lillian wouldn't mind and Suika has been dying for a pet."
"Did the shelter say what to do with it?" Yuzuriha asked.
"I've reported the rabbit lost but if no one claims her after a week, then we can formally adopt it," I explained sitting on a near by desk. "I have no doubt my old man would send it to the shelter."
"Logical approach as always," Yuzuriha laughed giving me a compliment.
"Anyway, thanks for the blanket, it will be more comfortable then one of my shirts," I sighed, feeling almost happy over the situation.

That evening, I stopped by the store to pick up extra groceries. Honestly, would have rather stayed in the lab longer but it seems unfair to leave a scared animal alone in an unfamiliar environment.
Stumbling into the apartment, the smell of lemon tickled my nose. I sniffed again, yeah that smells like cleaning products. Wait, who the hell cleaned? I kicked my shoes off, heading to the kitchen and noticing it cleaned from this morning and on the table one of my shirts. I placed the bags next to it, glancing over to the rabbit who was staring at me. I smiled, walking over to it and kneeling to its height. "Guess a friend of Lillian's must haver come to clean up," I thought out loud, remembering a friend of Lillian's had a key. "Unless you did it."
the rabbit leant forward, rubbing it's cheek against my hand. I guess keeping you around wouldn't be the worst thing.
