Chapter 8
*time jump* *two months later*
With Corki three months along in pregnancy, everyone is getting excited about the triplets. It's November, and everyone just got back to McKendrick Prep after Thanksgiving holiday.
Saylor was at Corki and Jared's house, since Corki had officially moved in. She called it Hannah's house though, since she went to be with Hannah mostly.
Kyler, Saylor, Jodi, and Sun Hi had been performing as much as they could, and the fans loved it when Kyler came out for the first time.
Right now, however, Sun Hi was in her and Jodi's room, which felt kinda empty since Corki left. Jodi was on her bed, crying.
Sun Hi walked over and held the girl, rocking her back and forth. "I know," she whispered in her ear. "I know."
*Flashback: Two Days Earlier*
"Would Jodi Mappa please come to the office?" Ms. Diona said over the intercom. "I repeat, Jodi Mappa, to the office."
"What's going on?" Corki asked.
It was literally the first day back from Thanksgiving, and Jodi was already in trouble?
Jodi shrugged. "Come with me?" she asked. "This is freaking me out."
Her three best friends and Caleb nodded, and they followed her to the office. When they got there, Jodi's parents were inside. "Um, only two at a time," Ms. Diona said. "Maximum capacity."
Jodi gripped Caleb's hand as the others walked out. All three girls pressed their ears to the door.
Inside the room...
"Mom, Dad, what's going on?" Jodi asked.
"Stacey is getting worse," Mr. Mappa replied. "If she doesn't wake up in the next week then..."
"Then what?!" Jodi screamed, tears begining to fall since she knew the answer.
"We'll have to take her off life support," Mrs. Mappa piped up.
Jodi screamed. Caleb thought she would break his hand, but he squeezed it anyway. He wrapped his arms around her as she sobbed. "I've got you baby girl," he said. "Shhh."
Her parents joined in on the hug. Jodi was told that Stacey had been transferred to a hospital in LA. Jodi visited her everyday, but it was always sad. All she wanted was for her older sister to wake up, and now she had only five days left.
Sun Hi kept her arms wrapped around her best friend. Jodi cried onto her shirt. There was a knock at the door.
"Come in!" Jodi croaked, her voice breaking with each word.
Saylor walked in. "I thought you went to see Hannah," Jodi said.
Saylor shook her head. "I got worried," she replied. "Are you okay?"
"No," Jodi said, and sobbed into Saylor's shirt.
Saylor rubbed the older girl's back. "I got you," she said. "I know it sucks, but I've got you."
Jodi continued sobbing and Sun Hi wrapped her arms around both girls. The door opened, and Corki came in. One look at her best friends and she knew what was wrong. She hugged the girls tightly, and Kyler joined them later.
And that was XO-IQ. Their band was completely perfect.
*the next day*
It was finally time for the meet and greet. Even though Corki hadn't been performing for months, she still went. Corki, Jodi, Sun Hi, Kyler, Saylor, and Caleb all sat in one line at a table. They would start with Corki and go down the line until they got to Caleb. The first two who came up were a girl who looked around eleven and another girl who looked around sixteen. "Hi, what's your name?" Corki asked.
"I'm Lacey," the younger girl replied. "Wow, I can't believe I'm actually meeting XO-IQ!"
The older girl giggled. "Lace, don't overwhelm them," she said. "I'm Hannah by the way, I'm her older sister."
"Omg!" Saylor said. "I have an older sister named Hannah. I wonder if you guys would get along."
"I've gotta ask," Jodi started. "Where did you get those dresses?"
"We made them!" Lacey replied, still excited.
Sun Hi giggled. "Come here for a sec," she said, and took a selfie with the little girl. Lacey squealed. "It'll be in my blog, download it from there," Sun Hi said.
Lacey nodded. "Guys, we're holding up the line," Kyler said.
"Okay, okay," Corki said, and signed Lacey's book.
The rest of the band did too. Other people came by and got selfies as well. A couple people the band seemed to like were Ana and Kayla. After the meet and greet, XO-IQ went back to the dorms, except Corki who went back to her house.
Jodi lied in her bed, staring up at the ceiling. "You okay?" Saylor asked, she was sleeping over with Sun Hi and Jodi.
"Not really," Jodi replied. "You know that little girl at the meet and greet?"
"Which one?" Sun Hi said. "There were like thousands of them."
"The one you took a selfie with," Jodi replied.
"Uh, I did that with a lot of people," Sun Hi said.
"The first one!" Jodi almost yelled. "The one who came in with her older sister."
"Oh yeah," Saylor said. "What about her?"
"I hated lying to her," Jodi replied. "All of them, all the fans. None of them know what's actually going on."
Saylor nodded. "But we have to keep them happy," she said.
Jodi nodded. "I know," she replied.
Saylor and Sun Hi hugged the smaller girl. "Get some rest," Saylor said. "We can visit Stacey in the morning."
Jodi nodded. She pulled the covers up to her chin and fell asleep. Saylor looked at Sun Hi with concern. Sun Hi shrugged, not sure what to do.
They both fell asleep, not knowing that St exactly 1:26 in the morning, Jodi's phone went off.
