Chapter 10
Hours seemed to pass before anyone got any news on Saylor. Caleb's parents couldn't drive down. Neither could Jared's father. Jodi allowed Caleb to cry on her, even though she wanted to cry herself.
The door to Saylor's room opened, and a doctor walked out. He sighed. "So?" Caleb asked, standing up suddenly. "Is she okay?
The doctor sighed again. "Son, she's in a bad state," he said. "She can't handle too much excitement, you can go see her, but be calm."
Caleb nodded. "Wait," the doctor said. "What is everyone's relation to her?"
"Half sister," Hannah said.
"Half brother," Caleb said.
"Half brother," Jared said.
"Best friends," Kyler, Corki, Sun Hi, and Jodi said at the same time.
The doctor nodded. "You three can go in," he said, pointing to her sister and brothers. "But one at a time."
"You go in," Jared said to Caleb.
Hannah nodded, and motioned toward the door. Caleb walked in. Saylor looked, scary. Her face was as white as a sheet, and her normally striking blue eyes were glazed over. She smiled at him weakly. "Hey," she croaked, as he sat down next to her.
He took her hand. "I'm so sorry baby girl," he whispered.
Saylor shook her head. "This isn't your fault," she told him. "You did everything as fast as you could, and I'm still alive right?"
She giggled to herself. "Caleb, I promise, you did good," she said.
He nodded, still not letting go of her hand. Her rubbed her knuckles with his thumb. She smiled up at him, a true smile this time, telling him she was okay. He smiled back, and kissed her forehead. He began to leave, but she pulled on his arm. "Stay," she whispered.
"What about Jared and Hannah?" he asked.
"I'll see them later," she replied.
Caleb sat on the edge of her bed, and she put her head in his lap. He messed with her hair for a while, until finally Jared came in. He kissed her forehead one last time. "See you soon baby girl," he said.
He closed the door and sighed. "How is she?" Jodi asked.
Caleb smiled. "Good," he said. "She's actually doing really good."
Jodi smiled, and pecked her boyfriend on the lips. "Yay," she replied.
Stacey and Saylor got released on the same day, the next day. Stacey was released first, and she waited with everyone else for Caleb to come down with Saylor.
She and Jodi talked, until Caleb came down, wheeling Saylor in front of him. She stood up as soon as they got out of the door. "It feels good to feel fresh air," she said.
Caleb put his arm around her shoulders. "Good to have you back baby girl," he said.
*back at McKendrick Prep*
Stacey decided to sleep over at McKendrick Prep. Corki and Hannah did too. Jared decided even he wanted to be with the guys.
Saylor's belt now had a special thing on it she made that held her inhalor. Jodi had helped her.
"Would Saylor Davis please report to the office?" Ms. Diona said. "I repeat, Saylor Davis, to the office."
"Got your inhalor?" Jodi asked right before she was out the door.
"Always," she replied, showing them the belt.
She went down to the office. When she got there, two girls were in there as well. "Saylor, I'd like you to meet Kayla and Ana," Ms. Diona said. "They're new here, and they're also seniors! So, why don't you show them around?" (StepDanceArtist and Analove06)
"Sure," she replied.
They walked down the hallway. "So, I'm Saylor," she said. "As Ms. Diona made clear, and you guys are Kayla and Ana?"
"Yup," Kayla replied.
"Coolio," Saylor said. "So what do you guys like to do?"
"I dance," Kayla said.
"I write," Ana replied.
"Epic!" Saylor said. "I'm actually part of a band, XO-IQ. We're not super famous... yet."
All three girls giggled. They made their way back to Jodi and Sun Hi's dorm. "This is where my friends Sun Hi and Jodi live," Saylor said. "I'm sure they won't mind if you're here."
Saylor opened the door. "Yo people, I brought people," she said.
After everyone was introduced, and revealed their special talents, Saylor collapsed on the bed from exhaustion. "Tired?" Jodi guessed, and she nodded.
Jodi covered her up. "Poor girl," she said. "She's had a long day."
"Yeah," Sun Hi agreed.
There was a knock, or more like a bang, at the door. "Hello?" Jodi called.
"Let me in!" Caleb screamed.
Jodi opened the door suddenly, and Caleb closed it right behind them. He locked it, then put three chairs in front of it. "Caleb, what's going on?" Jodi asked.
Caleb gulped. "There's... There's... There's..."
"There's what??" Jodi yelled.
That's when they heard it.
Bang, bang, bang
"A gun man," Caleb whispered.
He ran over and picked up Saylor, putting her inhalor in his pocket. "Out the window," he said. "Hurry!"
Sun Hi, Jodi, Corki, Kayla, Ana, Kyler, and Hannah climbed out before Caleb did with Saylor. He woke her up as soon as they were out of the building. "Run," he told her.
"What?" she asked.
"Just follow me!" he yelled.
Saylor ran beside her brother. All of the group ran until they made it to a gas station. That's where Jared and Dylan were. They kissed their girlfriends. Saylor reached for her inhalor but couldn't find it. Caleb handed it to her and she breathed in and out, since she had run for so long.
Everyone sat outside on the sidewalk. Corki had her head on Jared's left shoulder, Hannah had her's on his right. Same thing with Jodi and Saylor, except on Caleb.
Dylan held Sun Hi in his arms. Kyler, Kayla, and Ana stuck together, they calmed each other down.
And the group stayed that way, until they heard a voice. "Well, well, well, you thought you could run did you?" a male voice said.
"Crap," Caleb muttered. "What do you want?"
Can you guess who the mystery man is? Are you confused? Haha, well, Crazy Lacey has been released. Also, I start school on the eleventh, so updates will start getting slower around that time. Don't forget to comment and vote!
Thank you and Lacey!
