16| "I Need Someone Right Now."

Johnny

"Johnny, I–"

It took every ounce of my willpower not to snap that fucker's neck right then and there. Instead, I closed my eyes and pointed. "Out."

"No, we don't have to do this–"

"I said get out!" I yelled.

Once my voice raised loud enough to tremble against my throat, Logan scrambled out of the bed and bolted out. Meanwhile, I stared at Taylor who held onto the covers. Her face was red and I turned away, still disgusted by what they did. What he did with her when I specifically asked him not to screw her. Actually, he made a promise. Did he forget or something? I mean, wow!

My blood boiled as I stormed out the room and slammed the door. Once I found that bastard again, I took him to my room and was ready to throw down.

"What in the actual... fuck?" I began, raising my voice intentionally high for the last word.

"Okay, you got me." Logan admitted. "B-but it's not like I did this on purpose. I wasn't trying to fuck with you, man. It just happened."

"She's my cousin."

"So?" Logan scoffed. "You're not her dad."

"You really wanna go there right now?" I asked him. "It doesn't matter if I'm not her dad. She's still family and you couldn't help but stick your dick inside her."

"But she wanted it. She wanted me."

"She's still fifteen, you moron." I smacked him right upside the head. "You're an adult."

"I know. I mean sure, the age thing is a problem except you don't seem to get it."

"There are laws, man. Laws."

"What I did wasn't rape. You have to understand that."

Fucking hell, I face-palmed so hard at the fact he was trying to justify this bullshit. Not to mention, that wasn't even what made me so pissed off. Once I found it in me to respond, I told him. "It doesn't matter whether I understand or not, you made a promise then broke it."

"Well it's not a promise if we've been together–"

"Wait, what?" I asked with one eye closed and my voice shifted too fast, there was a crack.

Logan nodded and confirmed the horrible truth. "Yeah. We've been doing it since she was still fourteen."

"Wow." I shook my head and broke out into this... burst of stunted laughter. "You're fucking unbelievable, man."

"Hey, at least I'm not treating her like an object."

"Excuse me?" My ears perked up as he said those words.

"You go on and on about how she's the sister you never had when at best, you act like she's your prized trophy." Logan boasted as he stood tall. "At least I made her feel like a real woman. At least I'm giving her exactly what she wants. Unlike you, I'm being the guy she–"

"Oh get over yourself already!" I snapped as my patience ran out. I couldn't take it anymore. I wasn't even thinking about what I was doing, my arms were out and thrust against Logan, shoving him hard into the wall. "God, you're such a prick. Actually, no. You my friend...are a terrible person, shitty friend, and an even shittier quarterback."

"You did not just say that."

"The hell I did."

With tensions reaching a peak, our insults fired off. Each were missiles in a war that finally exploded once the fists went flying. He hit me, I hit him, we both hit the floor as we got into a messy tussle with one another. I threw my fist at him only for Logan to catch it and ram that into the metal railing.

"Ow!" I rubbed it as he got up.

"Had enough yet?" He sneered.

"Nope." I shook my head in an effort to show him up. Unfortunately, he turned his back and began going through my things before hurling them my way. Each one harder than the last which quickly escalated beyond my control. I almost couldn't breathe, everything was going so fast.

"Hey!" I shouted while dodging some baseballs and cleats. One nearly hit me and I fell again. There was this throbbing pain in my hip as I held onto the railing of my bed. Aw fuck man, this hurts! "Cut it out!"

"Are you gonna say anything?" He gave a smirk so smug, I wanted to scream.

Oh... I clenched my fist while using the other arm to hoist myself up onto my bed. Sweat ran down my face which I wiped off though it really stunk. God, it was disgusting. On top of everything, the pain was getting worse. I was still aching, but had to push. Somehow that wasn't as painful as accepting what I should do. While what he did was wrong and technically broke his promise, no good would come from this. The last thing Taylor and her family needed was another scandal and as for Logan... He may not have been the best quarterback, though he was miles above our backup and we couldn't afford a shift in the team.

As the pressure mounted in my head, I turned away and closed my eyes. Ugh, how the hell did I get myself in a situation where I'm in the wrong? Me! The guy who was expected to make the right choice except now there wasn't a good option. Instead, I was only left to choose between shitty and shittier. Though despite these terrible options. I knew that whatever I chose, I'd have to own it. I wasn't proud of what I decided, but I'd also make sure this bastard didn't get the best of me.

Once I finally mustered the courage to get myself standing on my own two feet, I faced him again. "You know...I wouldn't do this anyways since I'm just that cool of a guy, but you make it so damn hard not to be cool."

"Do I really?"

"Yeah." I nodded super fast. "Before this, maybe I would've been able to shrug it off but no. You're a real scumbag, you don't care, I don't care, so now we're done."

On that note, I grabbed whatever clothes I could find nearby regardless of whether they were clean. I didn't even care if they didn't match, I just needed to get out of there.

"Where are you going?" Logan demanded.

"None of your goddamn business."

After making my way into the bathroom, I immediately locked it shut. My back leaned on the counter while I took a look at myself in the mirror. Normally, the handsome stud I saw on a daily basis was replaced by the freak who was a complete mess. My hair was broke, my eyes were lifeless, and I had nothing going on. Nothing.

Shit, I shook my head and groaned loudly. My body got sore from the counter and I slowly found myself laying on the floor. This was so pathetic. How did I even get here? One minute he was my closest friend, the next... I wanted to rip his face off. Oh!

I ran my fingers through my stringy hair before pulling out my phone. I needed an escape. There were so many people I could've contacted, yet I chose a certain someone. Why? Like I'd know. Either way, he was the best option and it beat being miserable by myself.

"Hey," I said once he picked up.

"Johnny?" The pitch in his voice went up, he was so taken back by my call.

"Is this a bad time?"

"Not necessarily." He paused for some time. "Is-is there, um... is there something wrong?"

"Sort of." I shrugged while clutching onto the phone tighter. "I had a real rough morning."

"Oh. I'm sorry to heart that."

"Yeah." My voice trailed off for some time until asking the big question. "Uh, do you mind if I come over?"

"Maybe."

As expected, I nodded understandingly before letting out a sigh. "Look man, you don't have to do this. I-I-I just really need... I n-need someone right now."

He got quiet for some time. Not a single word came out of his mouth. Maybe I scared him off? Not that I'm this scary monster, but I could easily be intimidating. Plus... we weren't that close and this could be too much, too soon. Just as I was about to give up, he finally responded. "How does eleven o'clock sound?"

"It's perfect." I told him. "At your place?"

"That works for me."

"Alright." I couldn't help but grin, I was that happy. "Thanks Lyle."

"You're welcome. See you there."

Once he hung up, I found myself smiling hard enough that my cheeks hurt. It made no fucking sense, but I didn't care. I'd get to be around bunny boy again, I wouldn't have to deal with Logan, everyone wins. With all the shit that happened this morning, I really needed one of those.
