[A/N Note I won't be writing in kotaro's POV because I can't really figure him out as in character wise and he's also a ninja that barely makes appearances in sengoku basara so it makes it really difficult to try to write his thoughts so It's only going to be my OC's POV and Third person POV when it comes to kotaro]

Shizuoka's POV

I was always a frail and feeble girl even as a child I spent most of my childhood in my room because of illness so I didn't have any friends and being the daughter of the head of my clan, made life much more difficult for me

Recently our clan has been attacked by hideyoshi's army father did everything to push them back he was successful however his greatest concern wasn't losing the battle it was losing me so he took it upon himself to hire someone to keep watch over me so I won't be assassinated or murdered

He was a ninja his name kotaro fuma he was a mercenary that worked for the highest bidder that was my father he gave so much money to him just to protect me and keep me safe

It's been a few months since he's been under my fathers command as ordered kotaro watches over me and makes sure I'm alright usually in the shadows but sometimes he would watch over me in plain sight

I could hear the birds singing outside I felt a little better so o decided to go watch the pretty birds

"Shizuoka sama you shouldn't be getting up!! You still haven't recovered completely from your cold!!" The nurse exclaimed

"I'm fine I just want to see the birds outside in the garden" I said

I got up and walked down the hallway to the garden I open the sliding door to reveal the birds singing and chirping in the bird bath in the garden

I loved birds and yet I envied them. They could go anywhere they wanted. Escape from everything. Start again. Fly high above the clouds and I could not. I was stuck in the ground wingless unable to fly away and with my feeble body it seemed like everyday It was meaningless to get better.

I grabbed some of the bird feed that was nearby on the ground and placed it on my lap

One of the small birds hopped on my lap pecking softly at the food

I giggled softly "kawaii~~"

I felt a presence nearby it was very familiar

"Kotaro" I called

He was leaning on a pillar on the other side of the garden watching over me

"Come here kotaro" I said

In an instant the ninja appeared next to me

"Look kotaro isn't this bird pretty? You should feed it, you like birds right Kotaro?"

The tiny bird hopped onto kotaro's lap as it fed upon the food in his hands

I smiled "it's so small I'll name him Piyo chan"

I petted the tiny bird it chirped in delight kotaro also pet the bird it became attached to us both

Piyo chan hopped off kotaro's lap and wandered around the garden but didn't fly away

"Maybe he's too young to fly away" I wondered

"....."

I looked at kotaro "Kotaro do you think the war will ever be over?" I asked

"....."

As usual he was silent he wasn't exactly a talker more of a listener

"I just want it to be over so many people are dying people who have families and wives and kids they're all gone leaving only the elderly and the women and children all alone it's sad but I guess there's no helping it as long as there are differences and evil in this world war is inevitable but sometimes on days like these that are peaceful I wonder if there's peace everywhere don't you think so too kotaro?"

"....."

I stood up and started coughing

*Cough, Cough!!*

I lost my balance but Kotaro helped me

"I guess I was outside for too long I should go back to bed kotaro"

"......"

Kotaro helped me back towards my room and the servants aided me

"Shizuoka sama I told you not to go outside and your body started acting up!!" The nurse scolded

"Gomenasai~ I thought I had gotten better" I apologized

The nurse sighed "Shizuoka sama you must take better care of yourself or else you'll worry your father"

"I know, but I can't help it!! I can't be cooped up in this room forever" I explained

"I know my lady but please bear with it until you've gotten better" the nurse said giving me medicine

"Hai" I said as I held the medicine in my hands I drank it and immediately felt drowsy

I fell asleep on the futon

Time skip The next day:

I woke up to the sound of birds again. I rubbed my eyes and looked at the lift coming from the outside.

It sounded so lovely, I wanted to go outside so badly but I knew I couldn't go because of my ill health I sighed

Suddenly the sliding doors opened to reveal kotaro

"Kotaro? What are you doing here? you never come here" I asked

"......"

He had something in his hands he sat criss cross next to me and slowly opened it

"Piyo chan~~" I squealed happily

The small bird hopped onto my lap on my bed and started chirping happily as I stroked it small head

I smiled at kotaro "Arigato kotaro this makes me so happy"

Piyo chan started flapping its cute wings

"Ahh look kotaro he's trying to fly soo cute" I said

Kotaro looked at the bird trying to fly

He helped it by lifting the birds body up and down in the end Piyo chan learned to fly but not that high

Kotaro smiled

My heart was overwhelmed with happiness when I saw him smile

Me and kotaro played with Piyo chan all day until it was night time

Time skip The next day...

I woke up very late in the evening it was dark it was raining today no birds were outside singing it was quiet the only sound was the rain that fell on the ground

Kotaro hadn't come to see me it was odd because he usually comes to see if I'm okay then goes back to the shadows

"My lady we have news of your father!" A servant exclaimed barging into my room unannounced

Tears ran down my face at the news the servant had brought me

It turns out my father was killed in battle today and his army was defeated

I was all alone

The rain fell hard it didn't stop. I stayed in my room I didn't eat I didn't wish to see anybody I just wanted to grieve for my father and the men he lost

I looked at the rain and the grey sky I had lost everything

I felt a familiar presence I knew exactly who it was

"So you decided to show yourself?" I said

"......"

"My father died today in battle surely you must've known, you have no reason to be here or to protect me anymore" I said

"......"

I turned around to face him "You're a mercenary who works for the highest bidder right?! I have no more money to give father must've payed you upfront before you came here right? You have no reason to be here anymore."

"......"

"Just go please leave....I'll be fine I'll manage on my own. Go you'll find a new master quickly and you'll be able to work for him so everything will okay so just...please leave"

"......"

Kotaro turned around his back facing towards me and he disappeared in a shadow of black feathers

Third persons POV

After that kotaro found a new master hojo ujimasa from the hojo clan however kotaro couldn't shake the feelings he had for his previous mistress Shizuoka

Rumors spreaded throughout the land that the Shimazu clan was weak and that lady Shizuoka's condition had worsened since her fathers death many generals and rulers decided to go and takeover the clan which would lead to the death of lady Shizuoka

At the night of the attack kotaro rushed to the castle to warn Shizuoka but the ninja was too late an army had already gotten there and was attacking the clan

The saika had their weaponry and aimed to kill everyone

Kotaro rushed to save Shizuoka

Shizuoka's POV

My health had worsened since fathers death and depression That came onto me after that..due to this many sought to conquer our clan I couldn't protect myself or anyone with my frail and sorrowful body and I had no one left

And the clan was getting attacked many were fighting to save themselves I however was tucked away into the castle in hope I would survive

There was fire everywhere black smoke engulfed the village and screams filled the air

'If only father was still here'

The sliding harshly opened

"Kotaro?! What are you doing here?"

Kotaro grabbed me bridal style and jumped out the window

"Eh?!"

After we landed in the courtyard he set me down

"Kotaro why did you save me?! I can't leave my people!! They're dying kotaro and I can't save them!" I cried

The saika soon arrived at the courtyard and started shooting at kotaro

Kotaro dodged the bullets and took out his shiruken and killed the soldiers

Third Person POV

Kotaro dodged the bullets and soon killed the soldiers however a jagged breath made him tense

He turned around and he was shocked

".....Ko..taro" Shizuoka whispered

All the bullets he dodged weren't aimed to kill him it was to kill Shizuoka

He could only stare as her body was filled with holes and soon blood started pouring out of them

He saw it as if it was slow motion her body started to stumble, he caught her before she could fall to the ground earning a groan from Shizuoka

He grabbed her bridal style even though it meant that she would screamed in pain

"Ugh itai kotaro" she cried softly

He ran through the large forest taking her Far away from danger

"...kotaro" she whimpered

"Kotaro....please...stop"

Kotaro stopped and set himself in a tree he looked down and saw Shizuoka her face showed pain

He placed his arm on her side hoping to stop some of the bleeding

She was shot several times several holes in her body some hit her vital points causing severe bleeding

"Ahh... Kotaro"

He knew she would die within the hour, she barely had time left

Kotaro felt something in his heart it was desperation and anxiety he couldn't understand he had killed people before and seen them die and he had felt nothing but now he felt immense desperation and anxiety

"Kotaro....I"

Shizuoka raised her hand and strokes kotaro's face

"I-I want to see your face...please even if it's just once"

Her hand went over his helmet and removed it letting his hair fall and his face come into view

She smiled "hehe...so that's how you really look like you're so handsome kotaro"

She ran her hand through his hair

Kotaro held her hand that was over his cheek

Soon her smile faded as pain shot over her body causing her to wince

"Ah!...itai Kotaro"

Kotaro held Shizuoka's body against him she nuzzled her head in the crook of his neck she supported herself by holding his neck

"So this is how I die? In your Arms?... if it ends like this then I'm happy because...the days I spent with you are forever engraved in my heart."

And kotaro felt the same way however she was not aware of this

The birds started singing as dawn broke in the distance the small bird they were both fond of Piyo chan had found them both, he had flown so high up in the sky he found kotaro and Shizuoka and sat across from them

Dawn was beginning to break the birds began singing

"The...birds they're...singing... Piyo chan take care of kotaro for me..."

The small bird chirped in response

Shizuoka smiled then turned to kotaro, she struggled to pull herself close enough to kotaro's body to whisper her last words to him

"Kotaro....I-I"

Her breathing was becoming faint as she struggled for breath

She leaned in close finally face to face with him

"Kotaro...I-I...Love you"

She wanted to kiss him even if it just a hopeless wish. She was almost there when her body gave out.

Kotaro however held her and kissed her lips as she wished the kiss lasted for about a few seconds before he pulled away to reveal she was now gone forever

It was their first and their last kiss

Kotaro's teeth clenched together as he felt pain and agony

If only he had never left

If only he had protected her

If he had placed his priority on her safety first maybe she would've still been alive

If he had never left her then maybe her health would've gotten better

If only he hadn't been such a coward to run away from his feelings thinking that maybe if he had a new master maybe he would forget her but he couldn't

Now he couldn't forget because she died in his arms and last words were "I love you"

He kissed her lips once more and her forehead

It was time to say goodbye forever

Kotaro grabbed her now lifeless body and buried it next to her father's grave

That day he vowed to himself to never love someone else for the rest of his life he vowed to never the love Shizuoka gave him go

The shimazu clan fell unto toyotomis control with both leaders now gone

Kotaro served under hojo ujimasa to restore the hojo clan in the battle field that's where he met 'her'

For the first time a girl now plagued his thoughts ever since he lost Shizuoka such a long time ago

Her name was tsuruhime from the  kouno clan

He met her when he was battling Mori motonari's men at sea

Her scream sounded like Shizuoka's and it alarmed kotaro to save her

Ever since that day the girl became love struck as she fell immensely in love with kotaro

She was so much like Shizuoka it was as it her spirit lived inside tsuruhime

Kotaro felt the need to protect her he felt as if he protected tsuruhime he would be making amends for not being able to protect Shizuoka 'that day' so long ago

But even if tsuruhime shared some traits with Shizuoka it still wasn't her

It wasn't Shizuoka

Shizuoka was gone forever and kotaro knew that very well

He couldn't bring himself to love this girl back so he would disappear when the she would encounter him or get too close

He couldn't love her not as much as he loved Shizuoka

The moments he spent with her were like flowers to him

After all Shizuoka was the only girl who was "the most precious" to him

SAD ENDING I KNOW ANYWAY I DON'T PARTICULARLY LIKE THE KOTARO X OC I MEAN I DO BUT I LIKE MORE KOTARO X TSURUHIME BETTER IT'S MY OTP

ANYWAYS THE SONG IS SAKURA FALLING FROM YOHIO ITS VERY TOUCHING AND BEAUTIFUL SO YEAH
