Chapter XX - Grief and Sorrow
3rd POV
Harry flew down, using every possible bit of strength he had, and caught Draco right before he fell into the fire, his heart beating faster than ever, he was sure he had never felt so scared in his entire life.
Draco wrapped his arms around Harry's waist and held onto him as tightly as he could, burying his face on his neck as he trusted him to get them out of there safely.
The flames were getting closer and closer to them, and they could feel the heat surrounding them as Harry used all his power to fly out of the room.
They only barely managed to escape without a scratch, and as soon as they were out, Hermione threw the Basilisk fang at Harry, and he stabbed the diadem with it, letting it fall as Ron kicked it into the room and closed the doors.
Harry held Draco in his arms and couldn't help but start crying, he had been so terrified as he saw him fall.
"D-don't you dare ever do anything like that again.." Harry whimpered and Draco buried his face in Harry's chest and sighed.
"I saw you go in and I didn't want you to be alone.." Draco whispered, and Harry held him tighter.
"I could've lost you..." He said barely above his breath.
"I'm right here, not going anywhere..." Draco said softly and kissed Harry's tears away.
Ron hugged Hermione as they watched the two, and Blaise stood next to them, looking at the door and fighting tears for his friend who stayed inside.
"Where's Goyle?" Draco asked while he rubbed Harry's back, looking at them, and Blaise looked down. "Blaise? Where's Goyle?!" He asked with his voice raising a bit higher.
"He's g-gone.." Blaise managed to say, before covering his mouth to muffle a sob, and Draco felt his heart clench, because despite the person Goyle had become, he was once one of Draco's closest friends.
Draco looked at Hermione and she went to take Harry in her arms and hold him, then Draco stood up and went over to Blaise, placing his hand on his shoulder and squeezing.
Blaise pulled Draco into a hug as he let himself cry, and Draco tried to comfort him the best way he could.
"I'm s-so sorry Draco.. we should've never turned our backs to you.." Blaise muttered and Draco returned his hug.
"It's okay... you're here now and that's what matters. We're at war, you were scared, I can't blame you. I made many stupid decisions myself.." Draco said and Blaise nodded, mumbling a thanks.
Harry sniffled and wiped away his tears as he smiled at Draco, feeling so incredibly proud at how much he grew as a person. If someone told him at the beggining of his sixth year that Draco Malfoy would not only be the love of his life, but get along with his best friends, assume leadership alongside Neville on the light side of the war, and forgive his old friends after being betrayed, he'd laugh at their faces and say they were sick.
But here they were, nothing made sense, but he wouldn't have it any other way.

Nagini was the next Horcrux. But getting to Voldemort's murderous snake was an almost impossible task.
Draco stayed behind to get the Dumbledore's army ready as the battle started, and took Blaise with him, who had agreed to join, and the golden trio made their way to the Shrieking Shack, and at finding not only Nagini and Voldemort, but Snape there, Harry stayed hidden under the invisiblity cloak, trying to understand what was going on.
But nothing could've prepared him for seeing Nagini attack Snape with the intent to kill, then leave with Voldemort.
As soon as the two were out of sight, Harry rushed inside, ignoring Hermione's protests, took the cloak off and looked down at the man he hated.
Harry bend over him, and Snape grabbed his cloak to bring him closer.
"Take.. it... Take.. it.." Snape croaked out, gesturing to a silvery blue substance gushing from his mouth, ears, and eyes.
Hermione conjured a flask for Harry, and he shakily filled it with the substance, and Snape's grip on him loosened.
"Look.. at.. me..." The man whispered, and Harry turned to look at him, green meeting black as he saw the light slowly fade from Snape's dark eyes, leaving them empty.
The hand holding Harry's robes hit the floor with a thud, and silence filled the room as the golden trio looked at the shadow of the man they once thought they knew.

Voldemort's warning rang in Harry's ears as he and his friends made their way to the Great Hall.
One hour. He had one hour to get to the Forbidden Forest. One hour before Voldemort sent his army with the intention to kill everyone on sight.
His heart felt heavy at the sight of the bodies as they entered the Great Hall, a place once filled with joy and laughter, was now dark with grief and sorrow.
The Weasley family gathered around Fred's body, and Ron was quick to join them, hugging them tightly as they cried over their lost son and brother.
Beside him, laid the body of Remus and Nymphadora Tonks, who had been fighting alongside each other, having been friends for years, and Harry felt his heart shatter to pieces as he thought of Sirius and how he couldn't bear the thought of the pain that would cause him to find out about his fiancé's death.
Their wedding had been scheduled for the next winter, Harry had been ecstatic when Sirius asked him to be his best man. But now that was thrown out of the window, just like that, all because he didn't face Voldemort himself.
He saw Draco on the other side of the room, and he tapped the bracelet on his wrist as their eyes locked, watching as the boy tapped it back
Harry took a deep breath and rushed out with the vial of Snape's tears in his hand.
He was going to put an end to his, and he was going to do it right now.
Snape, Fred, Remus, Tonks... No one else could die because of him, he couldn't let that happen.
So after using the pensieve to see Snape's memories and figuring out what the last Horcrux was, or rather, who the last Horcrux was, he walked to the Forbidden Forest with tears in his eyes.
He walked towards his death, without looking back.
