Y/N POV:

I can't believe we're running! Marines don't run from a fight! Itami says it's about keeping the enemy on their toes! Yeah right! Not to mention this whole thing with Tuka and Yao! Good God how am I gonna explain this to my mom! No, how am I gonna explain this to Shino!...Though I shouldn't let my ego get in the way. I can look after myself, I've had people try to kill me from the shadows from before. However Lelei doesn't know how to fight that way, so I swallow my pride and protect her. And I'll figure this "marriage" with Tuka and Yao. We left the city and we stop at a fork in the road. And Itami is holding a stick up with his finger and with Lelei while I pull security.

Itami: Hmm...

Lelei: Itami...um what are you doing?

Itami: Well Lelei, I'm deciding which way we'll be going next.

He lets go of the the stick and it falls pointing to the right fork.

Lelei: I don't think we'll find any resources if we go this direction.

Y/N: I wouldn't call that a priority right now.

Itami: Right, we have to get away from the assassin, okay. Like this... *picks up stick* No one will know which way we're going.

Lelei: So we don't even really know ourselves.

Itami: *laughing* Bingo that's exactly right.

Y/N: I still say we make a stand and kill these guys.

Itami: And...Why would we do that L/N?

Y/N: We kill enough of them, they'll question whether the bounty's worth risking their lives and back off.

Itami: Yeah, we're not doing that.

Y/N: Suit yourself, it worked with wild dogs in Iraq.

We mounted the vehicle with everyone on board including Gery, Shandy, and Arpeggio. It's still real awkward to sit near Tuka and Yao. Itami turns the engine over.

Itami: M'kay! Let's get a move-on!

Y/N: Oh dear god.

We move out to whatever fate has in mind for us.

Time Skip Night

Y/N POV:

After driving most the day we stop for the night I'm sitting near a fire and putting a night vision scope on my rifle. I turn on the infrared laser at the end of rails and look down the sights to see if everything is working when Grey steps in front my sights and I immediately jolt away.

Y/N: Jesus Christ! You trying to get shot Old Man!

Grey: Sorry, mind if join you?

Y/N: By all means.

He sits down across from me as I finish calibrating the sights.

Grey: So I was told you're a Marine.

Y/N: Yeah, and before you ask our Corps fights anywhere not just fight at sea.

Grey: Hm, even among the stars?

Y/N: *chuckles* Not yet, but I hope to be around to see that.

Grey: Anyway, heard you've seen a lot of action for someone so young.

Y/N: Probably not compared to you. You probably got ten lifetimes worth of stories.

Two of us spent about an hour exchanging war stories and cracking jokes.  when Tuka and Yao showed up.

Y/N: Hey.

Tuka: Can we talk L/N?

Y/N: Is this really a good time?

Yao: Master, please it's important.

Y/N: Oh Jesus.

Grey: Uhh...I'm gonna go keep watch the area the North. Good luck kid.

Y/N: Yeah, thanks Old Man.

Grey leaves to watch the Northern perimeter leaving alone the two girls and they sit close to me with Tuka to my left and Yao to my right and the whole thing is really uncomfortable for me.

Y/N: So I take it you want talk about this "marriage" you two have got me in.

Tuka:...Yes.

Yao: Master, we realize it came as a shock to you as you didn't know about the ceremony but...

Tuka: I...We love you L/N.

Y/N: Oh my god...Wait, you two are cool about this? I figured you two would be tearing each other apart already.

Yao: Well...it almost came to that.

Tuka: We decided that this arrangement was more beneficial. I mean even though I've known you longer than Yao has. You saved my life, and help me confront the pain of losing my father. That's one of the reasons I fell in love with you.

Yao: And I belong to you both body and soul.

Y/N: But we haven't known each other that long Yao.

Yao: I realize that you really know that much about me. Well, I never told you I've never had much luck with men.

Y/N: Really?

Yao: My first love left me for my best friend. My second died the night before our wedding. And my third died in an accident.

Y/N: Damn, that really sucks Yao. (Does that mean she's bad luck?)

Yao:  I was told a lot about you while you were unconscious in the hospital back at Alnus. Like how you're a brave warrior, a loyal friend, and selfless person...

Tuka: Like how you gave your coat when I was cold back in Japan.

Yao: You also nearly lost your life saving my people.

Y/N: You two realize you've already outlived me by hundreds of years. I will die, if not by old age then my chosen career path. Are you sure you want be with someone doomed to die.

Tuka: We know, but regardless we want to be with you.

Y/N: Look...I already have someone, and I really love her...and I feel like I just betrayed her. It's...

Tuka: Kuribayashi right?

Y/N: How did you know about?

Yao: Itami told us, and we are fine with you being with her as well.

Y/N: (Dammit Itami! Tell the whole fucking base while you're at it!) Look, I'm not a polygamist or a womanizer. Tuka didn't you say you hated that about your dad?

Tuka: I know, but you're not that kind of person at all.

The two elves got very close to me both of them holding my hands with sweet smiles.

Y/N: This is really messing with my moral compass here.

Tuka: You don't have give a clear answer right now.

Yao: But please know this.

They lean in and kiss both of my cheeks.

Tuka & Yao: We love you L/N.

My heart goes into overdrive and my face turns a little red when I hear a voice.

???: L/N!

I look to where the voice is coming from and it's Grey.

Grey: L/N, I think there's something out there in the trees to the North.

Y/N: Alright, I'll check it out.

I leave the campfire with Grey head to the Northern watch and get into a kneeling position about 90 meters from the tree line and start scanning using my night scope.

Grey: You can see in the dark with that thing?

Y/N: Yeah, it's great isn't it? Wait....

I focus on what I that thought at first was an animal then it appears again and it's a man wearing a hood and light armor. And then another appears, then several more appear all armed with a different weapons.

Y/N: There are men in the trees!

Grey: What?!

One of them readies a bow and arrow and I quickly fire two shots at him and drop him.

Y/N: CONTACT NORTH!!

Realizing their ambush is blown the hostiles begin advancing toward our camp hoping to overwhelm us with numbers alone. I begin firing at them with single shots. Grey draws his sword and Itami shows up with Rory.

Itami: What the hell's going?!

Y/N: We got hostiles moving from the North! We need break camp and get out of here!

Itami: Right! You hold'em back as long as you can!

Itami leaves to start packing up and getting the vehicle going. While I continue to fire at the hostiles they're dropping one by one but they get 80 meters from us.

Y/N: Grey, cover the right flank! Yao take the left!

Grey: Got it!

Yao: On it!

Yao position herself on my left and draws her sword. And Rory approach me from behind with halberd resting on her shoulder with a delightful smile and her lips already turning purple.

Y/N: Rory!

Rory: Yes?~

Y/N: *fires two shots* Get 'em.

Rory: *giggles* With pleasure.~

Rory leaps over me and lands behind the enemy's line of advance and begins cutting down assassins laughing as she goes. Despite being cut off the hostiles continue their advance.

Itami: Tuka, help me with the trailer!

Tuka: Yes Father!

Y/N: Lelei! Find some cover and stay down!

Lelei: Right!

Y/N: Arpeggio, Shandy protect Lelei!

Lelei takes cover inside the vehicle with her sister and Shandy. Tuka and Itami get the camp packed up and Itami get in the driver seat tries to start the vehicle but the engine won't turn over.

Itami: Shit! Come on start!

Y/N: Itami what's our progress egressing?!

Itami: Not going well!

Arrows begin falling near me with Yao and Grey deflect arrows with their swords and I continue firing at the hostiles who are now 50 meters away. Itami continues to struggle to get the vehicle started.

Y/N: Their closing fast! Hurry up Itami!

Itami: I've almost got it! Hold on!

I continue to drop hostiles but they keep coming, they're now 25 meters out.

Y/N: YOJI! WILL YOU PLEASE! HURRY THE FUCK UP!!

The engine finally turns over.

Itami: Alright! Everybody on board now!

Tuka boards first.

Y/N: Grey, Yao go!

Yao: What about you?!

Y/N: I'll cover you! Now go!

Grey: Come on!

Grey grabs Yao and the both of them board the vehicle while I lay down cover fire.

Y/N: RORY! GET OUT OF THERE!

Rory hears this she impales an assassin into the ground with her weapon.

Rory: Aww, this was just getting fun. Oh well.~

Rory pull her weapon out the dead assassin and starts sprinting back to the vehicle. I lay down more fire to cover her retreat. She makes it back to vehicle with blood stains on her face.

Itami: L/N! Get on!

I start heading toward the vehicle fire a few more shots. I grab a grenade from off my armor, pull the pin and throw it into the field. The grenade explodes killing 5 more hostiles. The rest scatter after the explosion. I board the vehicle and I was about to close the door when an arrow strikes me in the head but my helmet deflects it. It knocks me off balance and I fall to the floor.

Y/N: God dammit! What is it with me and arrows?!

Itami: L/N, you good back there?!

Y/N: I'm good! Step on it! Go!

Itami steps on the gas pedal as hard as he can and the vehicle speeds away from the field back on to the road to the South. Tuka crouches down and helps me up.

Tuka: L/N are you hurt?!

Y/N: I'm okay, the arrow didn't go through my helmet.

Lelei: What do we do now? Now that the assassins found us.

Y/N: We need to strike back.

Itami: Are you serious?! We just got out of a fire fight! And you want dive head first into another one!

Y/N: We need to go back to Rondel and find out who's orchestrating these hits and take 'em out. Cause this isn't gonna end until they kill me and Lelei. And clearly driving aimlessly around the countryside didn't work out very well for us did it?!

Itami: You really are crazy you know that, right?

Y/N: Would you have me any other way?

Itami: Nope, not at all.

Rory: *giggles* Well I will say this.

Y/N: What's that Rory?

Rory: *wipes blood* Things are never boring with you two around.

Y/N: *chuckles* You got that right!

A/N: Well that's it for now, I am so sorry about this being held back of so long but I've been in the process of buying a house. A process that has gone anything but smoothly, But I'm still in this thing and plan on seeing this to the very end. So you know the drill vote, share, follow me with you want to!
