Interviews: Roman and Remus
Emile sat in front of the creative twins, who fidgeted and whined at the thought of having to sit and answer questions—specifically due to the rush of sugar running through their veins. Janus regretted even allowing them near sugar, much less consume it.
"This is dumb."
"We haven't even begun yet, hush now," Janus insists, lightly pushing a pacifier into Roman's mouth, shooting a pointed stare in his direction as he received a glare and low whine.
"Right," Emile chuckles, adjusting his tie. "Why don't we begin with a few questions? What are your little age ranges?"
Remus—who was chewing the life out of the teething bracelet wrapped around his wrist was the first to answer, a bit of drool rolling down his chin as he pulled off. Janus grimaced and was quick to grab a tissue and rub it at his scrubby chin. "Two to seven, m'usually only that big if me and Lo are doing experiments!"
Emile resisted the urge to coo, and Janus had a half of mind to let him. "And you Roman?" He urges, receiving a soft grumpy grumble as he wiggled in his seat.
"Two ta five..." He murmurs, his cheeks beginning to redden, embarrassed of the fact that he was considered the relatively "younger" twin. Remus isn't older! He couldn't be.
Janus gently grabbed at Roman's hips, tugging him back and on his lap, bouncing him on his knee. "Such a small prince," He teases lightly, earning himself a light huff and whack on the knee.
"M'bwig and mighty!" He insists, his pacifier falling and rolling onto the floor. With a sigh, Janus merely cast it away. He'd clean it at a later date.
"Yes, yes," Janus hums, glancing at Emile again, rolling his eyes at his bright grin, clearly enjoying the adorable scene before him.
"Favorite stuffed animal?" He inquires, glancing at his list briefly. This whole ordeal had been Janus' idea, he turned it into a game of interviews, allowing them to believe they're royalty. Typically, Roman would love the idea of playing pretend, but he had such a large amount of energy cooped up, leading him to fall restless and cranky. He wanted to go on an adventure! Not answer a bunch of dumb questions!
"I love them all!" Roman declares, pouting at such a question. How dare he make him choose?
"Well, who never leaves your side?" Emile specifies. Remus was quick to summon his small, green octopus. It deserved him a firm glance that had him sticking his tongue out. Janus didn't like them using their powers in their headspace and has strictly banned them from doing so. To even the odds, he limits his magic use, only using it to provide them with little supplies and such.
"Remus, that's strike one," Janus warns, watching as the other slumps. Their punishment system included strikes and colors. Strike one is a warning, strike two is moving their name down on a chart to yellow from green. Finally, strike three ended with red, which meant they would have to pick a punishment out of the jar. A similar jar is presented when they end their day on the green, usually, they're small, such as a treat from the treasure box or an extra scoop of ice cream for dessert. However, if they choose to save their rewards, they can be rewarded with trips to the toy store or any store really. Maybe even their favorite fast food area, it depends on who it is. Personally, Logan loves saving his for opportunities to visit the space center, and Roman will occasionally save his for a play coming up. However, the twins in general aren't the best at saving.
Janus rarely has to give out strikes, he's rather lenient and doesn't use them when they're expressing big emotions, but rather when they're being blatantly disobedient, just as Remus was. The other could have asked Janus to summon the stuffed toy, but instead, he did it himself, which Janus did not appreciate.
"This Mx. Ocoto!" Remus chirps, holding it up. It has many stitches due to years of abuse from the chaotic man.
"Da—Janus!" Roman squeaks, cheeks burning at his slip up, especially as Janus cocked an eyebrow and smirked smugly, yet, didn't comment. "I-I want Mrs. Fluffybottoms." He squeaks.
"Of course dear," Janus purrs, easily summoning the said stuffed animal. He hands over a red dragon stuffed toys, ruffling Roman's hair after.
"What special toys," Emile compliments. "What about your favorite little snack?"
"Dirt and worms!" Remus cheers and Emile attempts to hold in a grimace, but it is met with a snort from the caregiver.
"I'd never allow him actual dirt and worms. We compromise with cake crumbs and gummy worms."
"Ah," The therapist chuckles. "That's far more of a relief."
"Buuuut," Remus draws out. "Real worms and dirt are way better!"
"Nuh-uh," Roman says with a roll of his eyes. "Those are so gross! Idiot!"
"Hey," Janus scolds. "Now is that any way to talk to your brother?" He asks with a frown and Roman sinks down on his lap, deflating at the stern tone. It was rarely used, as said before Janus is quite forgiving, but he doesn't tolerate a few things, such as disobedience and disrespect towards each other and themselves.
"No," Roman murmurs and nervously fidgets with his fingers. "M'sowwy Ree."
Remus only shrugs. "S'okay."
Janus sighs and gently pats Romans head while Emile watched with a fond smile. "It's your turn, your highness," He reminds, and Roman perks up all over again, what better to cheer up the embodiment of ego than to talk about himself?
"M'loooove Mickey cookies!" He cheers and at Emile's curious look, Janus snickers.
"Oreo cookies in a simple Mickey mouse shape, my little Disney prince can't ever get enough of them, just a bit of frost around the edged and let them chill, and they'll stay in place."
Emile's smile brightens and he adjusts his glasses. "You are a wonderful caregiver Janus," He praises, his smile turning a bit sly as Janus went pink in the face a giddy smile forced its way onto his lips.
"Oh, well thank you Dr. Picani," He muttered, a bit flustered, but his tone showed his gratitude.
"Of course! Now, how about...favorite little cartoon?" Emile asks and Roman squeals.
"Disney!"
"Besides Disney," Remus huffs.
"No, cause nuffins better than Disney!"
"Is so! Fanboy and Chum Chum! Ooo and Sanjay and...uh...his snake! And breadwinners and sesame street and- and-" Remus babbled on, his mind beginning to wander as he glanced around the room and noticed a small spiders web in the top right corner. "Ooo! Spider!" He cheers.
Janus' eyes dart to the corner, especially as Roman gave a soft whine and the caregiver gently patted his shoulder. "My dear, it's quite alright, the small spider is all the way up there on the ceiling and most spiders cause little harm unless provoked. I will protect you, my prince," He assures, kissing his head, smirking as he flushed red and squirmed in place.
"M'Supposed to protect you! M'a prince!" Roman complains and Emile was quick to dive in.
"A true prince, while yes is brave and protects his friends, also knows when to ask for help, because some journeys and battles are far too great without help from the people who care for you," Emile croons and Roman seemed to perk up a bit at that. He felt better knowing it was alright for princes to ask for help.
"Now, which do you two prefer, bottles or sippy cups?"
"Sippy cups," They answer in unison and Roman made it a point to add "I'm a big boy!" after. In case no one knew, Roman is such a big boy.
"Hm, that was a quick answer, how about your favorite little drink hm?"
Remus paused at the question while Roman squealed. "Oh! Oh! Chocolate milk—no! Hot chocolate! With marshmallows—the Mickey ones! And whipped cream in my Elsa sippy cup!"
"I like lemon juice," Remus answers after with a derpy grin, his decision far shorter than his brother.
"With?" Janus prompts with a chuckle.
"Blue Gatorade!" Remus cheers and Janus chuckles, tickling his gremlin under his chin, his laughs growing in volume as he scrunched up like a little turtle.
"Good, good, what do Blue and yellow make?" Janus croons, knowing that simple questions such as a simple mixture of basic colors made his littles feel extra small.
"Green!" Remus shrieks, eagerly tugging at the Oscar the grouchy onesie he was swallowed in.
"I knew that too!" Roman insists with a whine and the two men who aren't aged down mentally snickered at his repetitive attempt to put all the attention on himself.
"Oh, I'm sure you did dear," Janus coos, cupping his cheek gently. "Hm, how about this one can be yours. What does red and blue make?"
Roman lights up at the question and thinks for a moment, his eyes darting to the side for a moment. "Uh- purple!"
Emile totally didn't give the hint by tapping at his clipboard. Oh no, of course not.
Janus sniffled a laugh, having noticed the little cheat, and kissed his head. "Very good my little lion."
"M'wan kisses toooo!" Complains Remus and Janus rolls his eyes fondly and pecked at his gremlin's head as well.
"Yes, yes my dear skunk, whatever you wish."
"Yay! Imma skunk!" Remus celebrates with a bounce. Janus held a firm hand on his hip just in case he went flying.
"Skunks are stinky," Roman huffs, wrinkling his nose.
"Like me!"
"No," Janus snickers. "Daddy makes sure to baths you thoroughly so you don't smell like a little skunk. As much as you idolize smelly creatures, I don't need my own running around," He explains, lightly pinching at his cheek as he pouted.
"Buh like being stinky!"
"Hm, you can roll around in the mud later if you behave."
"YAY!"
Roman jumped at the boisterous scream and Janus soothed him with a rub to his back.
"Remus, let's use our inside voice hm?"
Remus gave a sheepish smile in turn.
"Well," Emile chuckles. "You have quite the little munchkins on your hands hm? How about...do you two prefer chocolate or vanilla?"
"Nilla."
"Choco!"
The twins looked at each other and pouted.
"Choco." Roman huffs.
"Nilla." Remus hisses.
"Boys."
The two glanced back up at their caregiver and crossed their arms at his firm stare. "Enough bickering please."
"Both are very yummy," Emile soothes sweetly. "Let's move on then? Pacifiers or teether?"
Remus swung his feet and was quick to cast his answer. "Teether, m'like chewing."
"Neither, m'big boy," Roman argues.
"Oh? Well, I do remember a certain little prince asking me for his pacifier earlier but if he's too big for it..." Janus trails off and Roman whines.
"Nooo! M'wan it! M'wan it!"
Janus chuckles and pets his head, summoning a red and gold pacifier that shimmered as the metallic design met the light of the room. Roman allowed his jaw to fall open and began sucking on the nub of the pacifier, giving a cranky sniffle and Emile sent Janus a knowing look.
"Why don't we stop there?" Emile suggests and Remus huffs.
"No! Nother one!"
"A few more," Janus gives in. "But then it's naptime."
"Nwooooo!" Roman cries and Janus frowns as he gave a kick of his legs.
"Now, now small prince, we can continue the game for a bit longer than I'll read you story hm?"
While the prince pouted, Remus leaned against Janus' shoulder, bringing his teether back to his mouth, chewing on the pastel jewelry.
"M'kay..." He reluctantly agrees.
"Excellent! Now, how about another which do you prefer hm? Do you two prefer playing with your toys or coloring?"
"Toys!" Remus answers immediately this time around, while Roman was the one who had to stop and think, his eyebrows furrowing together.
"Uhhh—dat's too hard! M'like pwaying and coworing!"
"That's alright," Assures Emile.
"It's just a fun question prince," Janus murmurs, kissing his cheek, immediately smooching Remus' after as well, as he was sure to ask for one. Neither of them enjoyed the other "getting more affection". Janus tried his hardest to make sure to give all of his littles an equal amount of affection, he never wanted any of them to feel left out or anything.
"How about we move on then? What's your favorite thing to do with Janus?"
Janus raises an eyebrow but Emile only shoots him a soft smile and both twins paused to think about their answer.
"Um," Roman murmurs, "Weally wike stowytime, do funny voices."
"M'like when we play with slime and stuff," Remus adds, his voice oddly shy as well as his twin. "And playing outside."
"Yeah?" Janus coos. "Well, I love doing anything with you two, my sweet little misfits."
The twins grinned at his coo and Janus chuckled, gently adjusting them as he stood, each of the twins on either hip. "Well Picani," Janus begins, rolling his eyes at his wide smile. "I believe we should be on our way if that's alright. These two are scheduled for a story and a nap."
"Of course," Emile chuckles. "Thank you for including me in your game, call me again if you ever need a hand, even with two extra pairs, the more, the merrier!"
Janus laughed at that one and nodded. "Of course, alright you two, say goodbye to Emile."
"Bye-bye," Roman murmurs, yawning near the end. Janus quickly caught the pacifier before it could think about hitting the ground and held it up to his lips, and watched in amusement as his sleepy prince slumped forward, eagerly wrapping his lips around the comforting item once more.
"Byeeeee," Slurred Remus as he gave a small wave, slipping his teething ring off altogether and began chewing on it.
Janus chuckled at his sleepy boys and began making his way down the hall to put the two down for a well needed nap.
