;; something out of the ordinary

ADALYN DIDN'T KNOW WHAT SHE WAS DOING. She preferred to wear what she liked to call her 'journalist coat', a sandy-coloured coat that hung down to her ankles, and a white blouse and black leggings as an every day outfit, and even a messenger boy cap if the weather allowed it. She hardly wore dresses, save that one time where she had changed into one for a modeling shoot, and she wasn't really comfortable in clothing that showed much skin, anyway.

Getting out of the shower and nibbling on her bottom lip as she pondered the task, she opened the box that lay in front of her, the new dress she had bought herself just the week before. Adalyn didn't know what had come over her, but the moment she saw it, she knew she had to have it. Her fashion style wasn't great, but she had a sophisticated air around her, and much preferred elegance. The girl didn't have many occasions to dress up to, as her introverted self enjoyed staying home and watching sappy rom-coms with her cats by her side.

Letting the flower-themed dress hang loosely from her hands, she admired the pattern and the material, quickly slipping the clothing on. Adalyn stood in front of her mirror, eyes widening as she watched her appearance stare back at her. That...that couldn't be her, could it?

The girl in the mirror wore a flowy dress that went down to her knees, the smooth material dotted with beautiful flowers. Her sleeves bunched together towards her bodice, and her green eyes gleamed under the light. Adalyn took a daisy necklace from her jewelry box before fastening it on, and clipped on two flower earrings onto her ears. Two bracelets accessorised her wrist, and her hair hung loosely down her back, a bunch of gold locks tied together to form a small bun at the top. She had ended up pairing the whole thing with some pretty, white flats, to finish off the look.

Exhaling loudly, Adalyn flopped back down gently onto the bed, splaying her arms above her. If she was going to wear any dress into public, it would be this one. It had a nice, chic elegance around it, despite its flowery childishness, and she rather enjoyed the way it felt against her skin.

Turning to the little desk opposite her bed, she took a white sheet of paper from a stack of books, and with her best penmanship, she scrawled quickly:

Dear Prince Ruslan,

I hope that you find yourself well. For this question, I have to say that I've written the first thing that came into my mind, so if you'll forgive me for my boldness: do you believe in love?

Awaiting your answer,
Adalyn Elinor

Before she could change her question, she placed it into an envelope, sealing it shut. She didn't know how the prince would react, but really, this was just her curiosity wondering. Adalyn knew there were loads of other questions she could have asked, but that was the first thing that popped into her mind, and if she pondered over it some more, she'd stay there for the rest of the day. A little, hesitant smile on her face, she settled back down on her bed, shutting her eyes, tiredness settling over her.
