"Group A: Jess, Ryujin, Jeno, and Donghyuck."
Ah shit.
I think I heard it wrong. Please don't let it be true. The classroom was starting to get loud as everyone thought the triangle would need to work together. The window was open next to me, and the cold air danced around the classroom when it did. I wish the coldness would slap me in the face instead. I looked around to see Jeno looking at me, and Donghyuck waving at me. And Jess just looked up at me before turning back to read her book.
Shit.
A few days later, we decided to stay after school so that we were able to discuss our project. It would have been better if we got to work on it faster but Jess kept cancelling things. Jeno and Donghyuck never left me alone, causing more dramas and rumors to spread about us. I really wanted to escape this annoying hell-hole of a group. The day got chillier as I felt a cough coming up, but it got interrupted with someone complaining 24/7 behind me.
"A presentation. I hate these things."
Donghyuck complained endlessly as we made our way to the library. Jeno wrapped his arm around Donghyuck's shoulder and laughed out, "Come on, it's not that bad."
Arriving to the corner of the library, we were immediately greeted by someone who slapped me in the bathroom the other day. But what caught me off guard, was Yeji sitting next to her. Yeji stood up immediately, and smiled at me gently. She made her way over to me and whispered, "Had to do a meeting with her. I'll text you later."
I nodded quietly before as she walked away quickly, and soon the other girl wrapped her arm around Jeno, who was very uncomfortable. "Jeno~ noona is so sad that you don't come to basketball games anymore~ I wanted to you see me lead the cheerleading squad."
Everyone rolled their eyes with her acting and Jess muttered under her voice, "The person who slapped Ryujin's face."
Donghyuck's ears perked up as he then blinked quietly as Jeno gently shoved her arms away. "Minah noona, please stop.. I told you I don't want to."
Minah glared angrily at Jess and I, who didn't really care with what is happening. Minah whined quietly as she reached out for Jeno again, who angrily rejected, "We have a project to do noona, please leave."
She crossed her arms and left the corner, purposely bumping into me as she angrily whispered at me, "You're going to pay."
The atmosphere got chilly as she did, and she walked out of the library. I sighed to myself, and scratched my neck gently. The afternoon lights were still shining through the windows, and it was silently warming the corner that we had picked. Jess quietly tapped me on the shoulder before I turned away from the doorway. I made my way towards the others and realized that Jeno and Donghyuck were staring quietly at me. They weren't making any facial expressions towards me, and I was quietly confused with what was happening.
We all sat down in a circle as the quietness swallowed us completely. There were silent shuffling of feet around the library, secretive snack intakes, and loud whispering that were taking place. And nothing was happening between the four of us. Jeno cleared his throat and decided to speak up first, "So what are we going to present about?"
The iceberg was still present, and Donghyuck shrugged and replied, "I'm fine with whatever."
Jeno slapped him on the stomach, which caused the latter to whine angrily. Suddenly, the spotlight hit me when Jeno asked suddenly, "What about you Ryujin?"
Opening my notebook, I then replied with zero confidence, "The history of dance intrigued me."
Jess didn't say anything to agree, and Donghyuck's hand shot up at me. I thought he was going to hit me so I turned away from him, but he interrupted me from spinning afar from him and pleaded, "High five-"
I forgot Jess was around so of course, they both need to act nice. I tapped my palm against his, and rolled my eyes quietly as Jeno had a deep sigh. "Well, everyone should research their own topics and bring it the next time we meet. Then we can decide from there."
We immediately packed our things as we didn't really discuss what to say afterwards. Jess had left first since she needed to catch her ride, and I walked out immediately as well. But of course, Jeno and Donghyuck didn't plan on leaving me alone. Jeno fixed his hair as he pulled his hair back and wrapped his arm around my shoulder as we walked along the hallways. I shoved his arm away immediately, as Donghyuck whistled at our bickering. I ran away from them so that I can walk in peace, and there stood Minah and her little posse outside the building.
I tied my hair back as I felt my anger rising slowly as she chewed on gum annoyingly. She twirled her ponytail, and made her way towards me. I swear, if the day wasn't as cold, I would have taken off my jacket and threw it at her. I looked at her straight in the eye, as I spoke up first, "Why are you so annoying? Can't you just leave me alone?"
Minah shoved me with her arm so that I stumbled backwards as she smirked and replied with a sassy tone, "I'm older than you, keep your manners. And also, back off."
I grunted with annoyance, as something ticked inside me and I threw my backpack aside. I grabbed her backpack string and tugged her close, and whispered angrily, "You really annoy the crap out of me. You and your baseless rumors. Do you have proof that I flirted with Jeno? Do you have proof that I liked him? No, you just see one side and try to act like the victim around me, but what you're doing is basically bullying."
I pulled my face away and pushed her away, as she fell onto the floor. She screamed angrily in order to gain more attention, as I fixed my shirt without a word. Her friend then turned around and slapped me on the cheek, where then I pushed the other girl down so that she wouldn't fight me. The third friend then grabbed my hair and tugged me down, and I angrily protested as she kept me down. However, someone came into the rescue and released her hand from mine.
I rubbed onto my hair painfully as the sensation still hasn't left. An angry, pissed off voice then entered into my ear as Donghyuck warned deviously, "Back off of her." But it wasn't directed towards me, as his back stood in front of me...blocking me from the view of his distorted expression.
