((Y/N)'s POV)
These past few days has been the most eventful and tiring days of my life. Let's see... I met the king and queen, I got a new job, and now... I'm going to live with the royal family while, at the same time, becoming their tutor for the course of their election. Things sure escalated quickly... they got out of hand pretty fast...
Well, I guess I should just make the most of this situation. At the moment, I'm inside the king's personal limo as we head towards the royal family home.
"Um... you have a nice limo." The king then nodded and pressed some buttons near his seat.
"You haven't seen everything yet. We have state of the art artificial intelligence mounted on this bad boy. Military grade armor, a monstrous engine, high quality interior, and some other classified components." The king then showed me a monitor with high tech AI that is basically connected to the kingdom's intelligence agency.
"Doesn't this all seem too much for just a car?" The king then chuckled.
"That's what I've been telling the generals, but they decided that this is best to ensure my safety."
"Wow, I see that you're making good use of the taxpayer's money." I said, sarcastically. The king seems to take the joke well as he just giggled.
After a while, we finally arrived at the house. By now, it's already nighttime. When we walked in, we were greeted by the queen herself.
"Ah, you two are finally here. Come, dinner is almost ready and the others are waiting."
With that, we head to the dining room where my 'interview' took place yesterday. But to my surprise, instead of a royal dinner, what I see is more like a circus...
What the hell is happening here? I know that the royal family have superpowers, but this is just ridiculous.
"Everyone please sit down. We have a guest." They all quickly sat down as the queen commands.
"Hey, it's (Y/N)! What are you doing here?" Said Hikari as she sat down.
"(Y/N)-kun will be living here from now on." They were all shocked by this, to say the least. But strangely, none seemed to be against the idea.
"Um... is this really necessary, your majesty?" I decided to ask.
"It's a royal order. Would you refuse?"
"I gracefully accept you offer, your majesty." He then chuckled as I could only sigh.
"Please sit here, (Y/N)-kun. The food will be ready soon. You haven't eaten dinner yet, haven't you?" Said the queen, with a warm smile.
"No, your majesty. Do you need help with anything?"
"It's okay, you had a long day. Besides, I have Aoi to help me. You just sit here."
Of course, I can already see the similarities between the two. The most mature part of the family.
"It's fine. My wife and Aoi cooks the best meal in the country." The king then sat down.
"So, you'll be living with us, huh?" Said Shuu as he sat down beside me.
"It would appear so. I hope I'm not troubling you guys. As you can see, I don't really have a choice here." He chuckled at that.
"Of course not. We're a big family. I'm sure one more won't hurt."
As were talking, I can feel the gazes from the others on the table.
"Um... is there something wrong?"
"It's nothing, really. Just seeing you two talking side by side seems strange." Said Kanade who is sitting right across from me.
"It's like looking at two Shuu-chan!" Hikari playfully said.
"Yeah, you two look so much alike, it's scary." Misaki decided to join in to the conversation.
"Well, we do have some differences."
"Darker hair and eye color." The king suddenly said.
"Yeah, exactly."
They all then looked closer at us and realized.
"Hmm... I see..." said Kanade.
"So anyways, where have you been living before?" Shuu decided to ask.
"Well, I've been living in an apartment near my campus."
"So you've been living alone?" Asked Misaki. "Isn't that lonely?"
"Lonely, huh? I guess it's been so long that I've pretty much gotten used to it."
"What do you mean, how long have you been living alone for?" Aoi, who was carrying the food, suddenly asked.
"Um... I guess it's probably about six years." Most were shocked to hear that.
"Six years?! You poor thing, it must've been hard. Why did you decide to live alone in the first place?" The queen said as she finished preparing the food.
"Well, I had to move to the capitol to attend middle school. It's far, but I can't really complain for something that is free." Most of them seemed sad after what I sad. This is annoying. I don't need their pity, especially since they most likely won't understand the things we went through.
As if I can say that to them...
"Please don't look so down. It's not like I was doing it reluctantly. Everything I did was because I have a goal in mind, so I'm actually quite happy I made it this far."
"A goal? What is it?" Oh shie... Kanade just had to ask, huh?
"You know, get into politics and help people, the usual..."
"Well, I hope you and my children can help each other with that once the election is over." The king then took some food. "Come on, my wife made these delicious cuisines. You better eat it." He threateningly joked.
"Of course, don't mind if I do." I said as soon as I saw the others dig in.
Damn... this is one of the best cooking I've ever eaten...
(Not as good as Akane-sama's cooking tho! Sorry for the 4th wall break)
How long has it been since the last time I ate homemade food with other people...
It was back at the orphanage... six years ago...
"How's the food, (Y/N)-kun?" Asked the queen.
"It's very delicious, your majesty. I haven't tasted anything quite like this." She chuckled at that.
"I'm glad you liked it. You'll be eating with us from now on, after all." She said with a smile.
Hmm... free food means less expenses...
I'll take it!
Timeskip a while....
After dinner was done, I was shown to my room. It's not fancy, by any means, but it's still way better than my apartment. But now, I still have work to be done. I can't forget that I'm still a college student with assignments. I can't abandon them just because of this election.
"This is going to be a hell of a year." I was speaking to myself when I hear a knock on the door.
"Come in."
The door opened and Aoi was there. She was holding a cup on her hand.
"Ah, Aoi-sama, is there something you need?" She then came in and walked over to me. I'm currently sitting in front of a desk with my laptop.
"I've told you to just call me Aoi, remember?"
"Apologies, Aoi. What's the matter?" She then sighed and out the cup on my desk.
"My mom asked me to bring you some coffee since you said that you still have work to do."
Oh yeah, I did leave the dinner table saying that I have Assignments to do.
"You don't have to trouble yourself for me." She just smiled at that.
"It's fine. I made some for myself too. By the way, what are you working on?" She then started reading my document on the screen.
"It's just some reports on my recent research on the economy." I said while she continued reading. She seemed quite interested in the subject.
"Where did you get all these data?" She asked.
"Well, my professor told me that he has some connections."
"Hmm... rising GDP, yet stagnant household income growth." She read.
"Inequality, princess... it is slowly eating this country from the inside."
"Yes, I've heard my father discussing this with his subordinates many times."
This girl, she just keeps getting more interesting by the minute.
"You seem rather interested in this subject, princess." She just smiled, although there seemed to be a slight hint of sadness in there.
"Of course I do. I've seen people protesting for jobs that aren't paying well enough for them. I just want to do whatever I can."
I guess I was right when I said that she was the most suited to be king among her siblings. I can't help but to chuckle a bit.
"Why are you laughing, did I say something strange?" She asked.
"Of course not, princess. It's just that you're very interesting." She wasn't expecting that, it would seem.
"E-Eh?! Interesting? What makes you say that?"
"You're very mature, you understand this country well, you actually care about the people, you're smart, and you're kind... yet you don't seem to be excited to be king. I don't understand." She then sat down on my bed with a faint smile.
"You saw through me just like that."
"So I was right, then?"
"I... have my reasons...." She simply said.
Hell nah, I won't take that. She's probably the best chance that this country has.
"Well then, whatever that is, I won't ask you to share if it's personal."
"Thank yo-" She said, but I immediately cut her off.
"But still, I will try my best to convince you otherwise! You're the best candidate to me, so I won't let you go without a fight!" She was surprised, to say the least, that I suddenly yelled like that. I hope nobody heard that too.
Aoi, though, just laughed so suddenly. "If that's the case, then you won't mind if I study here with you from now on. Maybe we can help each other that way."
Hmm... why not? This is a good chance.
"I guess that's fine, princess. I'll make sure to change your mind before the election ends." She just chuckled at that.
"But more importantly, why are you still calling me princess?" She asked with a pout.
"Force of habit, I guess." She just sighed at that.
"Try calling me Aoi next time."
"Of course, I'll definitely do that."
"Okay then, goodnight, (Y/N). It's getting late." She then stood up and walked to the door.
"Goodnight, Aoi." She then smiled before closing the door.
Well, that was a good start, I guess. With this, I hope the others will be like her. But still...
Like I said earlier, this is going to be one hell of a year....
END of Chapter 2
Look at that, it seems like we got some progress with Aoi, eh? That's something...
Anyways, I do not own Joukamachi no Dandelion and any of the pictures I used.
Thank you and see you later!!!
