Okamoto's PoV

So, today I was at work at the post office. It was boring as usual and my co-worker keeps bugging me about some blind date. It's been going on for about a month now.

"Come on, Okamoto-kun! I'm very sure that you're interested in meeting other people~" my co-worker was trying to convince me for the hundredth time today.

I sighed.

"How many times do I have to decline your offer? I already told you, I'm not going on a blind date!" I said.

"But come on! You're 18! At the perfect age for love! And yet you're still stuck here seeing love letters and letting your heart break because you don't have any!" He said.

"I just want to finish my studies and become a successful person, okay? I'm very happy and contented with that life, thank you very much." I said as I continued filing some letters then tying them up.

"But Okamoto-kun! I'm sure this girl would just love to see you! And I promise you this! Once you get to know her, you won't be able to stop wanting to get closer to her! She's the person just for you!" He said.

I sighed and didn't respond. I just continued doing my work as he bugged and bugged, but then.. at some point, I really could not handle him so.. I gave in.

"Alright, alright! I'll go on the stupid date already! Just stop bugging me!" I said.

"Yes, yes! I promise you, Okamoto-kun! This girl's a keeper!" He said with a large grin.

And so after my part-time job at the post office. I went to have dinner and meet up with this girl that my co-worker says is perfect for me. My co-worker said that she'll be a little late since she has overtime at her work today. I patiently waited for her to arrive.

A few minutes later, a lady approached me.

"Uhm, excuse me, are you perhaps Okamoto Nobuhiko-kun?" She asked.

"Ah, yes. Are you (L/N) (F/N)-san?" I asked.

"Yes, it's nice to meet you, Okamoto-kun." She said with a bow.

"Uh, please, take a seat." I said with a semi-bow.

She then sat down. It was really awkward we didn't know what to do or talk about.

"So, uh, I hear you have a thing for sweets." She suddenly said.

"Oh?- yeah. I really like sweets, especially black thunder." I said.

"And so I've heard. I work at a candy store. I could get a few bars for you."

"Really? Yes, please!" I said excitedly.

"Haha! My friend did say that you'd be really enthusiastic about sweets!" She said.

I then suddenly felt embarrassed and piped down.

"Sorry. I got a little too excited." I said as I scratched the back of my neck.

"It's alright. So I've heard you work at a post office?" She asked.

"Mhm. It's one of my part-time jobs." I said.

"Really? You take more than one part-time job?" She asked.

"Yeah, I work as a security guard during weekends, and I take weekly shifts between working at the post office and a cashier at Mcdonalds." I replied.

"Really? That's so cool! So I hear you're studying something, what is it?" She asked.

"Well, I'm studying to be a voice actor and I'm earning tuition by taking those jobs." I replied.

"Oh, I don't think I could pull off having three jobs at once. I'm very happy with my job at the candy store even if I don't really earn much. I love it when kids visit. They take their time in choosing lots of candy and go home with large grins on their faces." She said.

"Really? I wish I could see that. I love kids too! I'm really happy when I see my cousins. They're so cute and cheerful." I said.

"Yeah... so you're studying to be a voice actor, right? Do you like.. love watching anime and reading manga?" She asked.

"Mhm. That's the basics of voice acting. We study animes and mangas and try to voice out the lines in our own unique way." I said.

"Oh, I see."

".. well, I really admire the veterans who have been doing this for a living. They're really amazing. They look so professional." I said.

"You could be like that too." She said.

"No, no. I'm still studying and failing at it." I said.

"But I'm sure anyone can be one. They just have to believe in themselves." She said.

I couldn't help, but laugh at her response.

"Hey, (L/N)-san, how old are you?" I asked.

"Probably younger than you." She said.

"I'm just 18." I said.

"Aha! I'm older!.. by one year, that is." She said.

But she doesn't seem so to me haha.

"Ohh. Do you like watching anime and reading manga too?" I asked.

"Yeah. I like a couple of series, but I'm not really an ultimate otaku type of person." She said.

"I see.. So, did you get forced into this too?" I asked.

"What? You mean the blind date? Yeah. I was forced. My friend said that you'd totally be my type. Hahaha." She said.

"Haha. My co-worker forced me too. He said that I'd also like you a lot, but I don't know yet." I said.

"Haha, no worries. It's our first time meeting. Let's just pretend this is a friendly date instead of a real blind date, yeah?" She said.

"Sure." I answered with a smile.

After talking to (L/N)-san, I walked her to the bus stop.

"Okamoto-kun, thank you, but you really didn't have to walk me to the bus stop." She said.

"I insist, (L/N)-san. Thank you for tonight. I'm glad that I did not reject the blind date." I said.

"No, thank you, Okamoto-kun. Me too." She said.

"Uhm, I was wondering if we could go on another one." I said.

"Oh, uh, sure. I'm alright with anytime you're free." She said with a smile.

"Okay. Have a safe trip back, (L/N)-san." I said as she lined up to enter the bus.

"You too! Good night!" I bid with a wave as she got on the bus and took a seat then waved back.

When I was walking back to my apartment, I couldn't help but sigh then laugh.

"Ahh, I told myself that I'd only meet and her and that would be it, but apparently I'm drawn to her somehow." I said to myself as I walked along the sidewalk.

I felt something different when I was with her. Most girls that I knew, showed their obvious interest in me. They'd say nice things and some of them even wouldn't make sense, but (L/N)-san.. she hasn't said anything to compliment me, but she probably is the nicest girl I ever met. I had that kind of feeling once I first got to know her, but I know that's not the right one so I wanted to go on more dates to get to know this blind feeling.
