10 || First Audition 「Aoi Shouta」

十。最初のオーディション「蒼井翔太」

(F/N)'s PoV

My name is (L/N) (F/N).

I love manga and anime. I'm an utaite by the way. Well, sort of.

I cover a couple of songs and post dance videos as well. I'm in my mid-twenties.

Today, I am being dragged to [famous studio] by one of my close utaite friends, [close friend's name].

"Why don't you audition for it?" I groaned as she pulled me inside the building.

"Because I want people to see your talent. You're a really awesome dancer!" She said as she kept tugging on my arm.

"Is this an impromptu audition?" I asked as she put my hand on the doorknob of the studio.

"Mhm. You'll do great! Break a leg! Well- not literally."

15 minutes later...

"So..??" She asked as I came out of the room.

"I'm.. I'm in." I said as I showed her the paper that the people inside gave me.

"What is this?" She asked as she checked its contents.

"No idea." I said with a shrug.

"Oh, the names of the other dancers are here. The song lyrics are here too. There's also the link to the dance that you have to copy." She said as she pointed those one by one.

The name of the artist that I'd be dancing backup for caught my attention.

蒼井翔太
Aoi Shōta

(L/N) (F/N) (L/N) (F/N)
小村滝彦 Komura Takihiko
山西界 Yamanishi Kai
田中まい Tanaka Mai
三井美原 Mitsui Mihara
英紙ヤノ Eishi Yano

"Aoi Shouta..?" I questioned.

"Yeah. He's a famous voice actor and singer." She said.

"Really? Did he voice in any of the animes I watch?" I asked.

"Mhm. Utapri." She replied.

Aoi Shouta doesn't seem like a normal Japanese name. Perhaps it's an alias. He sounds like an interesting person.

I shrugged that thought off.

I spent the rest of the week practicing and polishing some steps that I couldn't get at first.

☆☆☆

The next week, official practice started.

I nervously entered the building and headed for the studio. I bowed as I entered.

"Nice to meet you. I'm (L/N) (F/N)." I said with a bow as I greeted everyone.

A cute and charming guy then walked to where I was and smiled then reached his hand out.

"Nice to meet you, (L/N)-san. I'm Aoi Shouta. I look forward to working with you." He said.

I gladly accepted his handshake then replied, "I look forward to working with you as well."

The director of the video assigned things for us. Me and Komura-san are under the pro dancer category,

We tried a dry run of what would happen in the music video. I think we did a really good job, but the leader of the backup dancers believed otherwise.

"You're too stiff!" He told one of the girls who were crying in the corner.

"You're too soft!" He yelled at one of the freelancers.

"And you're too show-off-y!" He yelled at me.

"Excuse me, but—"

"She's just doing her job." Aoi-san cut me off before I could fire back the same thing.

The guy then walked out and of the room.

I walked over to comfort the belittled two young men freelance dancers and crying girls.

I then heard Aoi-san tell the director, "Please remove that dancer from my video. (L/N)-san will be the new lead of the backup dancers."

I felt both shocked and amazed. Most people who I work for barely remember my name. Well, that's mostly because I only take sideline jobs and I don't grab much attention.

Days passed and the staff found a new replacement for Komura-san and we were ready to film the music video.

I didn't realize how amazing Aoi-san was. He was great at singing, dancing, and voice acting. He's really friendly and he has a good command of leadership. He's not too strict and not too playful. He knows when he can joke around and when he needs to be serious.

Today, I came early. Probably because I was excited when I heard we were finally going to start filming. I decided to listen to a few tunes on my smartphone. I sat on one of the chairs that the staff left out and placed my bag on another. I put my playlist on shuffle so I was surprised when 'Winter Blossom' was on.

I started singing since it played over and over.

Zettai ni kyou wo wasurenai kara
'Boku wa kimi no naka' ikitsudzukete yuku
Ai wo Uh.. arigatou
Bye bye my dear

"Wow. You have a really nice voice."

I jumped as I heard his voice. I was blushing so hard. I've never let anyone hear my singing voice in person so this is really a shock.

"G-Good morning!...T-Thank you, Aoi-san.." I replied as I took off my earphones then kept my phone in my bag.

"You're an utaite, right?" He asked as he took a seat next to me.

"Uhm, not really.. I don't really pass the qualifications to be one.." I admitted as I sat back down from my sudden jump a moment ago.

"Well, anyhow. I think you're a great singer and dancer. You should try getting signed to a label. You have an amazing talent." Aoi-san said with a smile.

"Thank you.. I actually haven't thought about that. I was very contented on being an internet sensation, but perhaps that kind of experience would be something I'd like to try." I replied.

"Well, being an artist certainly has its advantages and disadvantages, but I think it's one of the things that I haven't regretted ever since I started working." He said.

"I'll consider your suggestion." I said with a bow.

Aoi-san is a really nice guy. I'm sure he has many fans.

"(L/N)-san, what social media accounts do you have?" Aoi-san asked as he opened his phone and started typing.

"Uh, I have Instagram, Twitter, soundcloud, and YouTube." I replied.

"Okay. What's your username?" He asked.

"It's [your preferred username] for all accounts." I answered.

"Alright. I'm done following you and subscribing your channel." He said with a large grin as he kept his phone.

"W-What? Y-You didn't have to do that!" I said as I waved both of my hand in front of him (sort of like a 'no' gesture).

"I wanted to. I think you're an amazing person." He said.

"Good morning!" Mitsui-san greeted.

Soon, the rest of the dancers and staff arrived and we started to film.

In one film, we were able to finish the entire video without a hitch.

"Great job, guys! You're amazing!" The director praised everyone.

"Well done!" We all said to each other.

After filming for Aoi-san's music video, I was never in contact with him again.

I did go through with his suggestion though, but little did I know that I'd get to work with him again.

Today, I got accepted to King Records and I was going to be signed as an official artist of this agency. At the entrance, the first person I saw, was him.

"Aoi-san?" I asked as I walked over to him.

"Oh, hi, (L/N)-san! It's been a while!" He greeted.

"Yes it has. May I ask what you're doing here?" I questioned.

"Me? I work here. I've been signed here for years now. I used to be signed at B-Green, but now I'm back here again." He replied.

"Really? That's great! I look forward to working with you!" I exclaimed with a grin.

"So you took me up on my offer! I'm glad!" He exclaimed back with a smile.

I was really happy to see Aoi-san. I'm really glad that I'll be able to work with him more or at least see him at work.
