One-Shot #2
Trigger Warning: Jewish slurs and antisemitism.
One shot of Jerry experiencing antisemitism.
One of Jerry's shows involved a commentary on Jewish stereotypes.
"This guy, he goes to the movies with his friends, but realizes that he left his money at home. So he tells his friends this and they say 'But you're Jewish, you're suppose to be good with money.' Well, let me tell you, speaking as one myself, even Jews forget their wallets." he said.
Things changed after that.
Random people on the street would push past Jerry saying things like 'Move, kike.'
One time he had a smart comment to guy on the sidewalk and he replied 'Are all kikes this funny?'
Jerry smiled sarcastically. "Well, I don't know many Jewish comedians, but we're pretty funny." he responded.
Jerry ignored it at first. He accepted long ago the fact that some people were gonna hate simply for his religion.
But it only got worse from there.
The insults were thrown even when Jerry was with his friends.
Kramer stood up for him. "No one should talk to you like that." he said. Elaine and George agreed.
"Thanks, guys." said Jerry, appreciating his friends.
But one incident got to Jerry.
He was leaving the store with George, who was ranting about his latest girlfriend, when he found a note on the windshield of his car.
It read:
"Your people deserved to die in the Holocaust."
"What? What's it say?" George asked.
Jerry couldn't answer, there were tears in his eyes.
Jerry has been in his bedroom crying for two hours now.
The buzzer rang, George got it.
"Hey." went Elaine's voice. "Come on up. It's an emergency." George replied. Kramer was there too, eating out of Jerry's fridge.
When Elaine arrived, George told her everything and showed her the note.
"Oh, my god." she reacted, shocked. She went to Jerry's room and comforted him.
"Who would write something like this?" George asked, confused.
"An anonymous coward, that's who." Kramer replied through a mouthful of peanut butter.
Elaine tells Jerry that he has every right to be upset and to let it all out.
"You know, I tried. I really, really tried to ignore all of this because I knew that it would happen. But dammit, sometimes it's all too much." he sniffled.
"Oh, Jerry. If there was anything I could do to take your pain away, I would." she said, hugging him.
When he had no tears left to cry, Jerry made himself feel better by watching Saturday Night Live with his friends.
From then on, whenever a jerk made an antisemitic comment towards Jerry, he just pretended he didn't hear it.
