A memory returns...

Solace found themselves flinching when they heard the sound of thunder, followed by a clap of lightning that lit up their room. They squeaked, and they pulled their blanket up and over their skull, trying to hide themselves from the outside world.

They didn't know why they were so scared, it was just thunder and lightning, why was it scaring them now?

They could also hear several high pitched noises, coming from somewhere...

---

Solace had no idea that it was them making the high pitched noises, as air struggled to make it's way through their bones...

But the noise did trigger something... Their eyelights got fuzzy as something emerged from the syrup that was their memories..

There were weird noises coming from his room, and he just freaked out, diving for the safe dark spot under his bed.

But the squeaks followed him there, and he started to shake. He just wanted the noises to stop!

"Hey! You okay?"

The squeaks got louder as the blanket that was in front of him was removed, and he stared at the red scarf wearer, who just blinked at him.

"Are you okay? You're making a lot of noise, and we can hear it downstairs."

They could hear the noises downstairs?! Did this meant that there was an intruder here?! And why were those noises getting louder?!

"I'm too tired to deal with this shit." Red scarf said, before he yelled. "Killer! He's under his bed!"

There was the sound of footsteps, and another Skeleton appeared, this one had faded black markings on his cheeks, and he quickly knelt down to look at him. "Hello Little Squeaker, what's wrong?"

Little Squeaker? Who was that?

"Solace? Solace!"

They gasped as they came back to themselves, and they opened their eyesockets, (When had they closed them?) to see that Break was holding them close to him, under their bed. They blinked, and they cuddled closer to Break, squeaking.

"Heh, you're a Little Squeaker, aren't you?" Break told them, chuckling.

"They called me that." Solace mumbled.

"They?" Break frowned. "Who's they?"

"I don't know..." Solace whispered. "But I think that I remembered something, or rather, a memory of someone... I don't know who they are, but they did what you are doing now. They cared."

"They must love you very much if you can remember how they cared for you."

"They did... Is that why my Soul hurts?"

"Yes. It hurts because you miss them, it hurts because you love them."

"Love... What is love?"

"I don't know what that is, I can barely understand the love that I have for my boys, the ones that I told you about... I can barely understand positive emotions, they don't come under my domain as the Negativity Guardian, and some of the more neutral emotions still confuse me..." Break sighed, and he smiled. "But that's all part of growing up. It's okay to not understand what love is, figuring out what it means to you, is a part of Life's journey."

"If you say so..."

"Hey, why don't you tell me about the one that cared for you. I might be able to find them if I get a good enough description, and they might be able to fill in the gaps of your memories, or give us some hints to where you come from."

"Well, there was two of them, I think... I didn't see much of the first one, but they were wearing a red scarf..."

'Dust?' Break thought to himself. 'But that doesn't make any sense... I would have known Solace, if they had lived in the mansion, before this mess began, and I don't have any memories of them...'

"And the other one had faded black tear markings... They were the one that huddled under my bed with me... Said that I was suppressed, or something like that, and that they would have to skip the mission..."

'They know Killer too? But that's impossible too, I would have known Solace living in my mansion, if Killer had known them too. It would have been impossible for my boys to hide them from me... Unless they met him after we got separated... But they couldn't have, Solace mentioned Killer skipping a mission... None of this makes any sense...' Break frowned.

Solace yawned, knocking Break out of his thoughts. "Sleepy..." They squeaked.

Break smiled. "Okay, let's get you back into bed, I'll tell you about Skeleton noises in the morning."

"What are they?"

Break chuckled, and he couldn't help but to answer Solace's question now, while he was tucking the teenager back into their bed.

"Well, Skeleton noises are often noises that Skeletons used to use as a form of communication, back when tribes of Skeletons lived in more dangerous environments. They were often used during hunts, but child Skeletons often used them as a way to alert their parents, or their caretakers, that something was wrong, or that they needed help, but most of the time, nowadays, they're often some form of baby talk.

Skeletons can use a wide variety of noises, and squeaks are actually the first ones that they use. They learn other noises, and they eventually wean themselves off of squeaks, normally about the time that they become teenagers.

In modern times, the noises are often used as a non verbal form of communication, to self soothe yourself, or as a way to comfort a child, or one younger than yourself.

As for suppression, that happens when an Adult forces a Child to be silent..."

Solace slowly fell asleep to the sound of Break explaining Skeleton physiology to them.

----

Break slowly sipped on his coffee, as he mulled over what he had just learned.

Solace had memories of Dust and Killer, memories that didn't match up with his. He would have known the child if they had lived in his castle, before this mess began.

"None of this makes any sense." Break muttered to himself, as he watched the little foam bubbles in his coffee move around. The bubbles made him think of something that Error had said, during the talks, and before he had to go into hiding, from the Council, only emerging from his hiding place to destroy random AUs, once in a while, when he wasn't keeping the Council's Hit Squads busy...

He had not seen his friend for several years now. It was just too dangerous for them to be seen together, in the same place.

"Was Error right? If multiple AUs can exist, can multiple Multiverses exist too?" He asked himself. It would explain why Solace had memories of Dust and Killer that didn't match up with the memories that he had of them.

"Solace... Are you from another Multiverse? And what happened to you, that resulted in you being brought to our Multiverse?"
