How problems in Decaorb began:

As astronaut, Garreth Lewis, left the SPANA locker room, he didn't realize a small packet of bizarre seeds were hidden deep down inside his jeans. It was illegal to bring anything foreign up into space for it was perceived that the outcome would be a risk factor. Anyone who did not follow these guidelines would be fined.

Earlier, he mistakenly left his locker wide open, before hitting the showers. Thus, anyone could have simply slipped any object inside his space suit when he left. Facepalming himself, Garreth knew his forgetfulness was an omen. Instincts told him to be wary, once he discovered his mistake of not locking the compartment up. But even if Garreth checked his pockets to make sure there weren't any loose articles in them, the damage was done.

And it was too late to do anything even if he had searched his back pocket, for Garreth had his spacesuit on. He knew it wouldn't be easy to take it off now, especially since the rocket he was scheduled was ready for take off. Interrupting it would disrupt the itinerary and that made him feel downhearted.

In the back of his mind, he knew it was a sin that had come back to haunt him as he committed adultery. And today he had a funny feeling that the mission wouldn't exactly go as expected.

Waving and smiling toward the crowd, Garreth gulped. He trained to be a space cadet five years ago, but every time he was scheduled to leave, his adrenaline would act up. Yet, when Garreth was younger he knew that exploring space was what he wanted to do when he grew up. But, experiencing the tremors first hand wasn't what he expected.

He previously went on The Odyssey a few years ago for Mars research. The visit to the red planet was quite treacherous in the beginning as a dust storm caused their trip to be shortened. Turbulence and other chaos was what Garreth remembered that day. In fact, during the mission, The Odyssey lost one of its parts, causing him to believe that he wouldn't be able to see his family again. But miraculously, The Odyssey landed safely down on Earth and allowed the space pilot to breathe a sigh of relief.

Earlier that morning, he was awakened by a mysterious phone call, where the man on the other line had a deep voice and mumbled the words, "Good Luck Mr. Astronaut. There is Nothing more Bitter than Sweet Revenge itself." It ended with a haunting laugh, which irked Garreth. He tried to ask who the mysterious caller was, but the line went dead before he could reply.

Thus, that flight made him uneasy and realized that life as an astronaut wasn't as simple as many have perceived.

Garreth had his suspicions on who the caller might be for earlier in the week he had a run-in with a man who he only knew as Adam. At first, he didn't know why this mysterious man approached him, but soon Garreth was warned that the husband of the woman he recently had an affair with was out to stalk him. And even if Garreth tried to end the relationship, the flirtatious woman refused to leave him.

Ahead of Lewis's departure, a gardener named Adam Williams, was able to enter SPANA headquarters as he secretly swiped Garreth's Identification card to get in. Adam knew it was risky to pretend to be someone else, but he hardly had time to think about the consequences as he was adamant to do the crime.

After smelling traces of another man's scent in his bedroom, and finding some clothes that didn't belong to him, Adam grew suspicious. At first, he ignored the problem, but smelling the strong aroma of cologne weekly bothered him. It wasn't his brand, as he only wore cologne on certain occasions, so he decided to spy on what his wife was doing while he was at work. He hid a miniature camera behind some clothes so it wouldn't be seen and that was when he caught the two fondling each other.

As soon as he came home and saw the evidence, he confronted his wife, who eventually admitted having an affair with the handsome astronaut. Adam's heart was damaged once he found out about the affair. It shocked him for he remained faithful to his wife for five years, and he couldn't believe that this was how she would repay him. He couldn't forgive his wife for her wrongdoing, and in the heat of the moment,he slapped her. Thus, it was Adam's intention to get even with Garreth.

Thus, when the astronaut mistakenly left his badge on William's night stand, the gardener took it. Without confronting his spouse about it, he brought the badge to a print shop and created a facsimile of the placard before placing it back on his nightstand.

Adam followed his nemesis to the store as he tracked Garreth through GPS, and punched him in the face when the victim was alone in the parking lot. Since security cameras captured the attack, Adam was arrested for losing his control. However, as Garreth was a compassionate man, he refused to file charges against his perpetrator and the police soon let both men part ways.

But in the back of his mind, Adam's encounter with Garreth wasn't over, and wanted to ruin the astronaut's reputation without getting the authorities involved. And that was when he found carnivorous plants growing near the fields of one of his clients. He learned about Garreth's space schedule and hurried up with his plan. As a gardener, Adam was able to easily bribe his clients for extra seeds, as he would do extra work for them. He wanted Garreth to bring these plants up in space and if the packets were found by his supervisor or colleague, he wanted Lewis to be reprimanded.

The next day Adam drove up to SPANA headquarters as his heart raced. Adam wore a blue shirt under his overalls and a SPANA cap he found lying near a trash bin. He figured since the hat was still in good condition, he could put it in good use after he shook the dust out of it. He did not know if his plan would work, but believed it was worth the risk, no matter what would happen in the end.

At the gates, he told the guards that he was asked to tend to the garden behind the building. As the guards were deceived by his ruse, they raised the barriers and allowed his vehicle to enter. Adam smirked; he couldn't believe that his strategy worked.

Once he entered the building with Garreth's badge, Adam cunningly evaded the other guards by making quick movements like a spy, and stole a janitor's uniform he found hanging in a closet. After putting it on, he went out to study the map of the SPANA building. He looked for the locker rooms because Adam knew Garreth would soon be preparing for his flight inside. He made sure the seeds that he was going to place in his rival's pocket would be his ultimate revenge, as when they would be discovered, Garreth would be penalized or even lose his job. In Adam's mind, that would teach the astronaut not to mess with his wife again.

Although, that's not what evolved. Since gravity does not exist in space, and the seeds fell once Garreth went out to walk on the moon, the seeds were never discovered by SPANA officials.

After numerous years ensued, the seeds found it's new home on an unknown spherical planet until the 'cry for help' was engaged, The plants grew taller as the wind blew on the mysterious planet and each year the rich soil full of microorganisms that were left as residue in the air caused the buds to expand.

Present Day

Back on Earth, two scientists gazed upon the midnight sky with their hands behind their back, pondering on what happened to those who were sent to seek the new planet. It had been months since they heard any feedback from the space agency and were worried if SPANA now wanted to take the credit for the major breakthrough all for themselves, rather than share it with them.

Three months ago, their colleague, Dr. Silas Cider, discovered a new celestial object hidden in view among the stars. He had never seen a more optical view of the heavenly body through the many telescopes he had employed and was baffled on why this fleck of an atom has never been located till now.

He was thrilled with this finding, and Dr. Cider discussed his new findings with his two colleagues, Dr. Margaret Jones, and Dr. Nelson Fields. Both were also in awe after they saw the speck of light through the telescope.

They named the planet Decaorb for it was the 10th planet in the galaxy following the celestial bodies: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto. And now the new planet, Decaorb would follow.

And they hoped it was inhabitable; as they envisioned that humans would be able to build another space station there to learn more about the galaxy. This would make it possible to send human beings farther into the universe than ever before. To dream, the impossible was what flared in their eyes. To be noted in history books as the first scientists to discover Decaorb would thrill them. But they knew there would be high stakes involved.

Of what one might ask? Aliens ... ones that might bite. They needed to find a group of people dumb enough to take the bait. It wouldn't be an effortless task if they just asked a  space agency  to send some astronauts to Decaorb and do an observation of the land, but they were frightened on what the outcome would be. But it was worth the try to see if the space lab had a better idea to make this milestone of theirs come true.
