The Foundation Kid

I updated! Yeah....so anyway if you forgot how she looked go back to the chapter 1/prologuee thingee to see her!

I walked around the village about five times before realizing that I have absolutely nothing to do at this moment. I stood still in the busy street, crossed my arms and tapped my foot in annoyance. Ibiki was busy evaluating the reports for the interrogation I did. Gai-sensei I searched for earlier but I found him with Lee training, meaning they couldn’t be bothered for they were in the ‘zone’. I sighed before making my way to the Hokage tower, but of course I’m to epic for the door so I jumped to the window, about to pop my head in before I heard an unknown voice.

“It would be an honour to work in Kakashi’s stead, Milady.”

“Now this isn’t an ANBU Blackops mission. You’re going on a regular assignment. So you can take off the mask. I’ll give you a codename. During the mission you will be known as Yamato.” There was a small hesitation before his reply came; my guess is he took off his mask.

“Yes, I understand.”

“One more thing. Team Kakashi will be getting a new face in its ranks from the Foundation, the Blackops Trailing Division.”

“Really? The Foundation?” Although his monotone voice made it sound like two curious statements.

“However…”

“Yes Milady?”

Keep a very close eye on him. Study his every move.” She finished and there was silence until the door opened and through the side of the window I could see him leaving through the door. Short brown hair, a katana on his back, the usual ANBU clothes, kinda tall (certainly taller than me), but I couldn’t see his face meaning that I wouldn’t be able to recognize him if I saw him. Seeing as he was talking to be Kakashi’s substitute (seeing as Kakashi is in the hospital after Gaara’s rescue) and Naruto asked me if I would replace Sasuke, I’m thinking that he might be the new captain of Team Kakashi and that this mission is important because they couldn’t just wait for Kakashi to get better.

“Would you care to join us, Kaiya?”  I mentally cursed myself. I was caught so easily! And I thought I hid my chakra well. I jumped through the window and landed in front of her in a kneel. I tilted my head up to look at her.

“Lady Tsunade, I was just-!” She held her up, signalling me to shut up.

“It is quite alright, because you have a mission.” I raised my eye and stood up.

“A mission? For Team Gai?” She shook her head.

“No, it will be a lone mission assigned to you by Ibiki and myself.” My eyes went wide in realization. That’s what Ibiki-sensei talked about…I mentally sighed. When he means soon, it really means now.

“Do you accept?” She asked and I immediately nodded. She smiled.

“Well then, you know by now that Team Kakashi has a mission. They’re mission is to recover information from a spy within Orochimaru’s ranks by turning into Sasori of the Sand, fooling the spy into believing that our fake Sasori is really the person he’s working for.” I nodded. “Now you have a play in all of this.” I raised my eyebrow.

“Yes Lady Tsunade?” I said slowly, unsure of what she wanted me to do.

“I need you to follow them in secret, not allowing anyone to see you so that if, and only if they need help, you’ll be there. And it is always good to have someone like you on an information gathering mission.” I nodded.

“Of course Lady Tsunade. You can never be too careful when it involves Orochimaru.” She nodded.

“That as well. You must, like I told Yamato, be cautious around that foundation boy. Now  they leave tomorrow at 10AM. Now be gone.” She said, waving her hand dismissively. I chuckled and nodded. “But one more thing.” She quickly said and I raised an eyebrow. “You’re going to need to keep the secret of Yamato being ANBU.” I nodded before jumping out of the window, ‘cause that’s what ninjas do. Except I didn’t exactly look where I was jumping, or who I was jumping on so…

“OH! What a youthful way to say hello to a fellow youthful comrade!” I sweat dropped. Oh no…

“Um, Gai-sensei, I kinda have somewhere to go…” Then he caught me in a hug, pressing my insides together like a child’s chew toy.

“Um…Gai…-sen…sei…can’t…breathe…” He just hugged me tighter.

“No! I will never let you go! This is a teacher-student bonding time! And I know how left out you felt because you were taken away from us for two years and how I keep training Lee and never give you any attention! I’m so sorry!! I’ll take you out for some ramen, and then some dango, and then we’ll run around the village 50 times to warm up before the real training begins!” He said, crying through the entire thing. I raised an eyebrow, but I quickly squeezed them closed when Gai-sensei squashed me even harder.  I was ready to use my gravity justu against him to just, get, him, off! And that’s exactly what I did. I placed my hands on his arms, closed my eyes and focused. Sure enough, after five seconds I actually felt oxygen moving their way into my lounges. I opened my eyes and looked up to see Gai-sensei struggling to get the ground. He was floating about 3 metres from the ground. I suppressed a giggle as I let him fall to the ground. Luckily there weren’t many people around except some ninja who knew about me.

“Ow…” Gai-sensei moaned as he rolled from his side to lie on his back. I took a few steps closer so that my shadow engulfed him.

“Look Gai-sensei, I appreciate your concern but I really have to be somewhere.” He blinked before jumping up and grabbing my by the shoulders.

“Then why didn’t you say so then!” And with that he skipped away happily, leaving me here confused but I wasn’t complaining. He was gone now. I didn’t have anywhere to be, I just didn’t want to have to deal with him.

“Hoi, Anko!” I called out as I saw her on the other side of the crowd. She smiled as I walked to her. “Dango?” I asked and she nodded.

“Dango.” We were kinda you could say dango buddies. We were both obsessed. So with that we made our way to the village’s famous dango shop and well, ordered dango. After our little get together where we chatted about recent events, I made my way back to my home, seeing as the sun was setting and I needed a good night’s rest for tomorrow.

I was up bright and early, a good four hours until I was supposed to start stalking Team Yamato. I dressed in my normal ninja attire which consisted of a black kimono top with floral patterns running down half of the sleeves which reached my hands. I also wore a bright purple sash around my waist. I wore a red shirt under my kimono top. I had a short black short that reached my mid-thigh. I had ninja shoos but they were red with four white gems on the front and the underside of the shoe was purple. I had black stockings which reached from my feet to just above the knee. My Chi-Ken was strapped to my back and my long red hair flowed down to my knees. My hair also covered my right eye, which was quite annoying to I use pins to get them out of the way. I also add a cute little purple bow to my hair. That would be my normal attire, but seeing as I’m going to do a little spying in secret, I added a black cloak over my entire attire and tied my hair in one massive pony tail, which I then let hang down my back into my cloak, hiding most of my hair. It felt weird but it made my long hair not so noticeable. And hear me now; I absolutely and incredibly suck at transformations. I never get the appearance right, I can’t hold them for long and I can’t properly block my chakra. When it was 9AM, I made my way to their meeting place and hid up in a tree, watching them from afar. Yamato was already there, leaning against a pillar at the big building in the middle of the forest. About 30 minutes later the guy from the foundation came and did the same. No words were exchanged between the two, only Yamato glaring at him with side eyes, as if examining him, the boy returning the same look before closing his eyes and smiling, much like Kakashi’s closed eye smile, except this one was completely and utterly fake. About 10 minutes later of silence, Sakura and Naruto came from the forest under me and walked up to them. Naruto stopped in his tracks upon seeing the foundation boy. Naruto immediately glared with his mouth agape and the boy in return just smiled with closed eyes. Sakura stood dumbfounded before turning to Naruto.

“Naruto, do you know him already?”

“Yeah. This jerk attacked me for no reason when I was with Choji, Ino and Shikamaru.” Naruto said, pointing the accused finger at the foundation kid. Sakura glared slightly, going into more of a fighting position and Yamato just stared curiously. Naruto got a kunai from inside his sleeve and got into a fighting stance. The foundation kid grabbed onto the hilt of the katana which was placed on his back, his closed eyed smile still there.

“That’s enough, Naruto.” Yamato said before lifting his head a little to look at Yamato.

“Huh? Oh yeah. Who are you anyway?”

“Oh wait, are you…” Sakura started.

“I’ll be filling in as team captain while Kakashi’s recovering in the hospital. Please, call me Yamato.”

“Captian Yamato?” Sakura question and said man nodded.

“You three are going to be comrades now, so you’d better learn to get along with each other.” Naruto and Sakura looked surprised at his news.

“You’re joking. Comrades with him?” Naruto asked bewildered, pointing a finger at the foundation kid who finally opened his eyes and plastered that smile off his face…just to close his eyes and smile again, standing straight up and leaving his katana.

“I’m sorry about earlier. But you see, I knew we were going to be teammates and I wanted to see how strong you were.” He answered.

“Uhh, well that was pretty stupid you didn’t have to go that far.” Naruto said sliding the kunai back into his sleeve.

“I was just curious to see how strong you’d be; now I know you’re not packing anything major.”

“What did you just say!” Naruto yelled, Sakura holding him back.

“We have to work together with this guy! You can’t start all fighting from the ghetto! And the same goes for you, that wasn’t very nice …” Sakura said, talking to Naruto and then the foundation kid, who just merely laughed weakly.

“Is that so?”

“You’re not winning any friends with talk like that.”

“Well don’t write me off yet. I like everyone. Even you ugly.” My hand went immediately to my mouth as watched Sakura attack the foundation kid, Yamato holding her back.

“What did you just say!”

“Whoah, easy Sakura! Follow your own advice!” I looked up to the sky in an attempt for help from, well, just anyone. I could already tell that this was going to be a long journey where they fought constantly until we reached the Tenchi Bridge.

“So…uh, now that the four,” five “of us are going to be deployed immediately, maybe we should…oh man…what kind of time to throw you all in a cage so you could get acquainted with each other. Uh, let’s go! Introduce yourselves!”

“Huh, Naruto Uzumaki…” He said annoyed.

“Sakura Haruno.” She said, glaring at the foundation kid whose name is….

“And you could call me Sai.” I face palmed. I expected a big ass name for this guy and his tough guy act but noooo, is name just has to be Sai which means talented and paint.

“Alright. Well, that takes care of that. Let me give you a breakdown of Team Kakashi’s new mission. The four of us will head to Tenchi Bridge, capture the Akatsuki spy who has infiltrated Orochimaru’s organization and bring him back. This is our best shot at gaining intelligence of Orochimaru and Uchiha.” Naruto looked surprised as Sakura’s eyes went wide. “Intelligence we can eventually use for orchestrating Orochimaru’s assassination and if we’re lucky Sasuke Uchiha’s retrieval. So… keep that in mind.”

“Ok.”

“Right.”

“As soon as you’re gear is packed and your all ready to go, rendezvous at the main gate in exactly one hour.” They nodded and scurried away. When they were all gone and I no longer could feel their chakra, I jumped down and stretched my body which decided to go numb while watching their argument. I looked at the sky, seeing only a few clouds and birds. One bird flew over me and I bended my head back to follow the bird’s direction, but learning the hard way that bending your head a little too far back, ends up in you getting dizzy and falling to the ground with a thud. I lazily blinked before closing my eyes, suddenly tired.

“Kill him, Kabuto.”

“Hai, Orochimaru-sama.”
