In my opinion, school still sucks. And a new week of a new school year isn't much better than last year when Maria was missing. No one at school (except for Kaylie and Daniel) know what really happened with my sister.
I walk to the launch room with Kaylie and Daniel by my side. We get our launch and sit at our usual table by the window.
"So do you wanna do more stuff with your powers after school or something?" Kaylie says, gesturing at me with her fork. "Can't be tonight, Mom's having people from her work over. And I don't think they would like it if I crack open a whole to another dimension over the dining table."
Kaylie laughs and Daniel smiles.
"Okay... maybe you could come and just hang out at our house," Kaylie suggests, eyeing her brother. He looks at her. He looks angry and maybe a bit afraid.
Daniel notices me staring at him and quickly glances down at his lunch. Kaylie rolls her eyes and goes back to eating.

It's the end of the school day and we start walk out to the school parking lot. We pile into their car, Kaylie in the driver's seat.
Turns out Kaylie and Daniel only live about the same distance I do from the school, just in the opposite direction of my house.
We walk up onto the small stone porch. Kaylie bends down and fishes a key out of a potted plant and proceeds to unlock the door.
"Welcome to the Rogers', where you can do whatever you want."
"Our mom works a lot so we kinda rule the place half the time," Daniel says as Kaylie leads us in. It is small and homey. The house also has a hard to explain smell, but a good smell, like fresh laundry and old books.
"Make your self at home," Kaylie says while digging through the kitchen cabinets.
I walk over to the small living area that excludes a small couch, rocking chair, and TV. The living area is part of one room that held the kitchen and a round dining table. The somewhat hall has doors leading to, what I assume, are the bathroom and Kaylie and Daniel's bedrooms.
Daniel sits in the rocking chair and turns on the TV. I sit on the side of the couch nearest him and Kaylie sits next to me, holding out a bag of Doritos.
Some show starts that I've never heard of. Kaylie and Daniel start singing the theme song. I laugh as I eat a handful of Doritos.
As we watch the show, I catch Kaylie looking at her brother weirdly. I try not to pay much attention to this. Kaylie giggles at something, an inside joke I guess.
Turns out, there is a marathon for the show going on, and I've gotten hooked in the last three hours we've been bingeing it.
I keep yelling at the TV, which makes Kaylie and Dan laugh. They've already seen this season, so they know what's happening.
Half way through the last episode, my mom texts me and tells me to come home. I talk her into giving me another half hour.
The marathon ends around 7:00 PM and I sit in shock.
"But I though Rick was a good guy. He was my favorite!"
"Same here," Kaylie says, "Danny knew he was a bad egg from the start. But he was just such a sassy guy! I loved him!" I laugh and look at Dan, who was giggle and his sister and I.
"I'm good at picking out the bad guys I guess."
I look at my phone and sigh. "I should probably get home."
"I can give ya a ride if ya want." Kaylie says, standing up from the couch. "Sure, thanks."
We get in the car, Kaylie driving again, Daniel in the passenger seat. We blast music all the way to my house.
We pull up into the drive way. I get out and say goodbye to my friends before walking up to the front door.
