Stuck In An Elevator
(Y/N)'s POV:
"Jayden, will you pass me the salt?" I asked Jayden as we both ate our daily Saturday breakfast.
Every Saturday, we would eat the same thing.
Egg, yogurt, bacon, and a glass of milk.
It just happens to be that I somehow like egg with salt.
"I would but it's closer to you," Jayden said as he stared at the salt shaker next to his plate.
Instead of complaining, I reached for the salt from across the table.
"I'm going to go to the hospital to check on a relative. You want to come?" Jayden explained.
"Sure," I responded,"I'll go get my stuff."
"You mean the stuff you left back at your house?" Jayden corrected.
"Never mind, let's just go."
We both went outside and started walking through the forest.
We were walking toward until Jayden took a right and went over to a bush.
He brushed some of the leaves away, reaviling a grey Mercedes.
Since I had this huge passion for cars, I went over to the beautiful grey car and examined it like there's no tomorrow.
"No it's not mine. No I can't drive. Yes we're going to borrow it," Jayden blurted out before I asked any thing else. I was so happy that I didn't even pay attention to Jayden not knowing how to drive.
Let's just say, we crashed the car.
Jayden didn't seem to care.
We ran to the hospital and I sat down on a red wool couch while Jayden spoke to a nurse.
I looked around the brightly lit room.
It was covered with posters that had inspiring quotes about believing in yourself and stuff.
There were two couches.
One was red -the one I was sitting on- and a blue one.
Jayden came running towards me.
He fixed his messy golden brown hair and cleared his throat, "Meet me at room 362 on the 11th floor. You can take the elevator if you want, I'd rather walk."
I was about to tell him something but he was already making his way up the stairs.
Grunting, I trudged towards the elevator and pressed on a random button that I hoped would send me to the 11th floor.
I watched as the doors slid shut before my eyes. I felt dizzy when the elevator shook to a start.
It was then that I realized that Jeff was also in the elevator with me.
A chill ran down my spine when I thought of various horrible thoughts on why he was here.
"Jeff?" I asked.
He turned his head to me, "Yeah it's me."
He had his hood over his head, probably so no one would recognize him.
"Why are you here?" I asked while avoiding eye contact with him.
"I'm on a break. My friend asked me if I could bring him some kidneys."
"Why on Earth would your friend want kidne-"
I was interrupted by the elevator shaking.
Jeff and I expected the doors to open, but they didn't.
Jeff tried to open the doors, when he did, all he saw was metal.
"Yup, we're stuck," Jeff said with perfect calmness.
Stuck! Just great! I thought to myself.
I sat down on the floor and took deep breaths.
In and out.
Breath.
Breath.
Jeff however, was perfectly calm, texting on his phone.
"I can't take it anymore!" I started banging the doors and walls.
"You do realize we've only been here for 20 seconds, right?" Jeff noted without looking up from his phone.
I continued banging and yelling for help.
Jeff took out cotton balls from his pockets and stuffed one of them in each of his ears.
"We're going to die of either starvation or suffocation!!!!" I wailed loudly.
Jeff took out the cotton balls from his ears.
"You hear that?"
I listened...surely, I heard my phone ringing.
It was Jayden.
"Please don't make any noise while I'm on this call!" I warned Jeff.
The following is the phone call:
Jayden: Where are you? I'm already at the 11th floor!
Me: Oh hi, Jayden. Well you see... It's hard to explain... *Jeff sneezes in the background* Shut up!
Jayden: You're telling me to shut up even though I did nothing?
Me: Sorry! That wasn't meant for you! *Jeff's phone rings, he answer it, then he is heard talking*
Jayden: Is there someone with you?
Me: No... There's no one here *Jeff: /talks faintly but is still heard/ so I'm invisible to you?* Sorry Jayden, I can't talk now! Got to go, bye.
End of phone call
"What part of don't make any noise during the phone call do you not understand?!"
I shrieked at Jeff.
Jeff pondered the question, "Hmm... I guess the part when you say 'don't' because this is known as a free country and you can't tell me what to do!"
I facepalmed myself and hold back the urge to start arguing with him.
"You know," Jeff started, "my boss would love to meet someone like you."
I was confused. "What do you mean?"
"What I mean is that my boss would be interested in meeting someone like you. You have a lot of emotions. One time, you're scared, the next, you're happy. You can't settle on one emotion...I like that."
Questions flooded through my head.
Questions that neeeded answers!
"Why haven't you killed me yet? I annoy you don't I? I'm whinning about everything, you say you hate those girls. Why haven't you killed me yet?"
Jeff stayed speechless for a while.
"I won't hesitate to kill you if you continue talking about that topic." He said in a deep voice.
"It's hot here!!" I whined while fanning myself.
"If we weren't stuck in an elevator I would definitely get out." Jeff replied.
I rolled my eyes.
Jeff took out his pocket knife and tried to open the doors with it.
He succeeded, but still, he saw nothing but metal.
He started climbing, I don't know where, why, or how, but he was.
I felt safer inside the elevator, even though I felt like I were dying.
"Hey you! I found an escape tunnel!"
I slowly got out of the elevator and saw Jeff inside an air vent.
"That's an air vent, for your information..." I whispered as I slide myself into the vent.
We crawled our way out, Jeff lead the way.
"So, do you want to come with me. I'll show you my boss and friends." Jeff's voice echoed in the tight vents.
"No thanks," I murmured.
I felt like I were going to be kidnapped like in the movies.
"I can tell you your friend's dirty little secret if you come with me."
"If it's 'Jayden likes you' I'm not even suprised."
"No! It has nothing to do with love!"
That last sentence got me thinking, what is Jayden hiding from me and how does Jeff know?
We crawled and crawled, until we saw a path of stairs.
"Well, I believe we have to go separate directions," Jeff told me as he started walking down the stairs.
As he walked down the stairs, I climbed up, until I was at the 11th floor.
I looked around the hallway, no Jayden.
He might have got bored of waiting for me and decided to go see his relative without me.
It's alright, I understand.
Jayden's POV:
I didn't mean to hurt him.
I went up closer to the patient, he was still breathing.
I felt so guilty.
If anyone finds out, I'd probably be sent to jail.
It wasn't my fault he was in the middle of the street durring midnight.
I've killed people before, but innocent people...no!
I didn't mean to run him over, I was just in a hurry, I hope he can forgive me once he wakes up.
Jayden's Flashback:
"Where are you going?" (Y/N) had asked me while gripping firmly on my wrist.
"Somewhere!"
"Where?"
"I have to go! Please?"
(Y/N) let go of my wrist. Once she did, I left the house, running.
I went to the bush where I hid a stolen grey car.
I started the car, I was in a hurry.
I belive it was 11:59 p.m.
I was driving -quite fast though- when I saw a guy, I think he was from our school. He was walking in the middle of the street while listening to music on his headphones.
I honked but it was no use, he wouldn't take notice of the car.
The brakes screeched as I attmeped to stop the car.
The guy must have heard this, because he started to run.
But it was too late, the car had already ran him over.
I got out of the car and called a ambulance a.s.a.p.
I told them that he was my grandma's son, and that he is new in town.
This of course was a lie.
They asked what I was doing outside during the middle of the night, I told them I had too.
They just laughed.
I lied about the car too.
I told them it belonged to a man dressed in all black, and that he escaped as soon as he saw me contacting the police and ambulance.
End of Flashback
"Please be okay." I whisper.
"Please be okay, (Your crush's name)"
