Saved?
(Y/N)'s POV~
I felt warm hands grasp my cold ones. Small drops of water splashed on my hand, but I was too weak to worry about it. My vision was blurry, everything looked bright and somewhat foggy. I gently turned my head toward the direction of the person holding my hands. I saw my mom sitting on the side of the bed, nearly empty tissue box resting on her lap. Her nose was red from blowing her nose too much and her eyes made her looked tired due to excessive crying.
"Mom?" I choked out. My voice was breaking and I had barely said one word.
My mom looked from my hands to my face. The second her eyes met my face, tears poured out her eyes like waterfalls. She scooted closer to me. She gently caressed my cheek in a way of showing me that she cares for me. Confused, I opened my mouth to ask her what was going on. However, before I did so, my mom placed a finger against my lips to shush me. By now, she seemed to be out of tears yet still let out loud sobs.
"It's okay, (Y/N)," she told me.
Jayden sat next to her, I had noticed once my vision wasn't a blurry mess. A bouquet of roses sat on his lap, eyes gazing at the flowers rather than at me. His copper colored hair framed his head shape perfectly. Tears had stiffened his face into a hard frown. My weak hands twitched at his direction.
"Jayden," I whispered. My mom cried even more when she heard my voice. "Why are...you here?"
His head jerked up quicker than I expected. He stood up from the bed, rushing to my side, and placing the flowers behind my head. Seeing him up close, I noticed his dark eyes looked gloomier than most days. Skin as pale as his looked yellow under hospital lights.
Jayden put a hand on my mom's shoulder. "I want to speak to her alone, if I may."
She nodded, and Jayden closed the door once her body slipped through. His fingers worked on the knob, turning the lock. He returned to my side, his weight dipping the bed as he sat.
A hand stroked my hair. "You should be more careful, (Y/N)."
"Huh?"
"You were at the park." Hands braided my hair. "You were screaming. Supposedly you fell off the monkey bars at night."
My voice cracked. I couldn't speak right. "I wasn't at the park, Jayden. Remember when I told you I was going to a mansion? That's where I was. I called you, too! L-Last night I told you I needed you to pick me up."
Jayden stood up. Though no sun shined through the windows, he slammed them shut either way, along with the blinds. A gust of wind slapped me when he harshly yanked at the curtains. "You did call me."
"So you believe me then? You believe that I was at a mansion in the middle of a forest?"
"No."
I pulled the hospital blanket to my neck. "You always believe me, Jay. What's wrong?"
He wouldn't look away from the shell colored curtains. His body, straight and still, stood in front of me.
"When I went to look for you, I found you at the park, (Y/N). You were never in a mansion."
Fear, I think that's what I heard in his voice.
"But I was," I protested. I had unknowingly sat up straight on the bed. "It was a dark mansion. Many...creatures lived there. When I was running away, there was fire everywhere. That's all I remember before everything blacked out."
Jayden pressed his hands on the window sill, harshly. "You really are naive, huh?"
"What do you mean?" I asked, head cocked to try to see what he was doing.
"I started the fire, (Y/N)."
"You- but how? That's impossible! You're messing with me! I remember I dropped the candle!"
"I can assure you I'm not messing with you." Jayden said. He turned my way. "You know more than you should. I'm just trying to keep you safe. The humans think you're schizophrenic. I can't let them know what you really are."
I gripped the sheets of the bed. "Humans? Stop speaking nonsense..."
Jayden grabbed my chin. As he glared at me, I noticed all his eye turned all black. "How about you stop your curiousty? Get your nose out of places it doesn't belong. None of this, none of what you saw, ever happened. Understood?"
I shook my head. "It's all real, Jay-"
"I said understood?!"
I nodded quickly, holding back my tears.
He took a deep breath in. His eyes turned back to normal, then he rushed out the door.
