"I think even if I memorized this book, it still wouldn't stick in my brain." I whined, dropping my head down to the table in defeat. "I'm going to fail this test."

We were sitting at a long table in the middle of the library. It was an older looking room with stained glass ceilings, gray marble floors, and dark wood shelves piled with books. Eight identical tables ran through the middle of the room with sixteen smaller tables on either end of each longer table. The old dusty bookshelves ran parallel to the tables, creating rows and rows of books both old and new.

"Aw, be more positive, Lu!" Bora said trying to cheer me on. The happy look on her face only upset me more.

"Oh whatever. You aced your test today. You try taking this class. You'd fail too." I said as I sat up straight and then slumped down in my chair. "There he is!" I whispered to Bora as she laughed at me.

"Where?!" She yelled, probably louder then she meant to. "Where?" She repeated more quietly.

"He just came in the library. He's talking to that girl up front." I slumped down further in my chair as he started walking down the aisle. I couldn't take my eyes off of him. All the red in the room was screaming at my eyes as he got closer. I ripped my eyes away and looked down quickly hoping he wouldn't see me. As he walked by he pretended to not notice me, but I saw his eyes flick towards me and back down at the floor.

"You need to go talk to him." Bora urged. "Are you seeing red again?"

"All different shades of red, and way brighter then before." I whispered back. "What the heck do I even say? Nice to meet you, why do I only see one color when I look at you?" I scoffed.

"Maybe start with 'Hi', much easier" she joked.

Taking a deep breath I got up out of my chair and walked to the aisle he was in. He was sitting on the floor with a book in his lap, reading it like he was looking for something. "Hi..." I said nervously, awkwardly waving.

"Do I know you?" He asked glancing up and back down again.

"Kind of. You ran me over in the hall a couple weeks ago....?" I said knowing that he remembered, he was being difficult.

"Oh...yeah. Soooo, what...you want compensation?" He replied not looking up from the book.

"Ha! No" I scoffed. "I have a question." Now I was getting more nervous. I had to ask him, and I had a gut feeling that he did see some sort of color when he sees me, but I also had a gut feeling that he was going to lie about it.

"Then what? I did apologize already." He waved me off with a hand as he went back to his book.

"Do you....see.....any, um....any--"

He cut me off and looked at me like I was crazy "Spit it out"

I took a deep breath and blurted it out "Do you see any color when you look at me, because I see red when I'm around you, and it's weird cause I've never seen any color before and..."

"No." He looked up at me with zero emotion on his face.

"No?" I repeated, instantly feeling disappointed.

"No." He said again standing up and slamming the book shut and started walking away.

"Oh...Sorry to bother you." I turned around and walked out the aisle back to the table where Bora was waiting for me. I threw myself down in the chair and put my head down on my arms. "I'm never talking again, not to him, not to anyone. That was so embarrassing"

"What did he say!" She asked excited.

"No. He said no, and not just once, but twice. He's repulsed by me. I can tell." I felt tears sting my eyes, probably from the embarrassment and frustration. I swallowed hard and pushed them down. He was still a few tables away, I didn't want him to see me so frustrated.

"Oh." Bora said as she processed the information.

"I don't know, maybe it's just a fluke. Maybe my brain is just stupid." I said as disappoint continued to upset my stomach.

"Your brain is not stupid, stop that Luna. Maybe he's the one that is stupid. With his stupid red hair and all. What's the point if he can't even see what color his hair is?"

"Did I just hear you call me stupid?" Suddenly I looked up and groaned to my self, once again embarrassed. Bora's eyes were wide, she didn't mean to say that loud enough that he could hear her.

"No" I interjected, give him a taste of his own stupid medicine.

"Cause I could have sworn I just heard you say that." He said staring at Bora.

"No" I said again. Staring him down when he looked over at me. His bright red hair was screaming at my eye sockets, but god did he look good.

"Uh huh, fine." He said finaly walking away from the table.

"Why me? Why" I begged Bora after he left, "WHY"

Bora just looked at me and giggled as I rolled my eyes and tried to go back to studying. He wasn't doing anything except making me more interested. If he wants to play that game, so could I.

The following two weeks went by without excitement. Chan had kept his distance in the common areas where we usually passed by each other. Either I made him uncomfortable, or he knew I was on to him...or both. Maybe it was both. Maybe he was uncomfortable because he knew I was on to him.

"Luna!" I whipped my head around and saw Seungmin bounding my way, no wonder Bora called him a puppy.

"Hey Minnie" I said as he got closer. "What did Bora do to your hair?" I said laughing as he got closer.

"She got me with the bleach. I didn't have the heart to tell her no." He said pushing his hair out of his face.

"I see that. I mean, it doesn't look bad. Could be worse." I winced at the pink bangs that now were hanging in his face.

"It's PINK, Luna. It can't be worse. I hate pink." He grimaced as he put a hand over the front of his head trying to hide it.

"I mean, I don't know what pink looks like, so you're good." I laughed as I pulled his hand away. "Let her do her thing, you know she messes with everyone's hair when she's stressed. Her classes have been kicking her ass. Remember that time she died my hair and didn't bother to tell me what color?"

"HA! And everyone gave you weird looks until you convinced her to change it? Neon green was not your color, trust me."

The color red suddenly flooded my sight letting me know he was nearby, that was when Chan stopped in his tracks about ten feet away and stared at me before turning around and walking back to where he came from. I rolled my eyes and turned back to Seungmin.

"Who are you staring at?" Seungmin asked confused.

"No one. It's not important." I mumbled, "I have to get to class." I smiled one last smile at him and walked away.

As I got closer to the end of the hallway I saw a classroom door open and Chan was sitting at a desk alone.

"Wow, didn't peg you as the type to be early for anything." I said leaning against the doorframe.

"Yep, that's me. On time. All the time." He replied looking uncomfortable.

"You're avoiding me, aren't you?" I asked matter-of-factly.

"No."

"Oh here we go again. No" I said mocking him.

"Why won't you leave me alone? I don't see colors ok? I see plain ol' black and white." He turned around in the desk to face the front of the room. With his back to me he took a deep breath in annoyance.

"I never doubted you when you said that, but now you're avoiding me."

"I like alone time, ok? You're interrupting it." He turned the top half of his body to glare at me.

"Fine, Mr. Grumpy Pants. Have your alone time for now, but I'll get to the bottom of this." I replied scoffing at his attitude.

"Fine. Do whatever you want. Miss I see red for no reason." His tone was very telling, it basically screamed, I see color around you too, but I'm a jerk that doesn't want to admit I might like you.
